Nope!!! My grandparents lived near Beardsley park in the 1970's. Their house got robbed once. The Only thing stolen, was their prescription drugs. They kept them on the kitchen window sill, to remind themselves to take them at certain times of day, at mealtimes I guess. Anyway. That was back in the 70's!

My whole family and me grew up entirely in the hollow and on the west on Norman and iranistan...my kids went to Columbus which is right behind the greens and my husbands fam is all from the east side...he has a huge family lol...family in the greens that just moved from there to PT about 2yrs ago...when you got to park Ave and took a right and got to park and beechwood I had friends passed on that corner but if you would have taken a left the old “sports page” bar and corner store was one of the many places to be when under age...both my parents and all their friends went to sports page when they were underage and then we all got to be teenagers me and some of my friends that were the kids of my parents friends all started going...got into a few fights over there lol then went next door to the corner store and got more 40’s to go chill after...a lot of fun and a lot of trouble lol once we got licenses we would all take turns driving around smokin and listening to music and drinking...2 of my best friends passed within 3 months of each other when we were 23...I taught her how to drive standard in her driveway going back and forth lmao getting whiplash and when it got dark enough we would go down to seaside and drive around at night so she could actually practice more than just 1st gear and reverse lmao we all had so much fun...so many things have changed in bpt but the memories will always be there... I could write a book just about all the fun, crazy ridiculous shit we did just driving around bpt...I’m sure so many others can say the same...I had a friend when I was in high school and she was from Ansonia and her mom loved me but told her that she was not allowed under any circumstances to come to bpt...she came down 1night and we all went down to this corner store on Park Ave going down to Seaside right before you go under the train tracks and right before we were about to get out of the car somebody started shooting at people on the other corner and she cam near had a panic attack...that was her FIRST and LAST time ever coming to visit lol

I've seen nearly a dozen tours of Bridgeport and to be frank, this was not a pleasure to watch - it was so repetitive, looking at almost nothing but numerous side streets of triple decker houses. I'm guessing the cinematographer stayed in this small area preferring a short visit not far from I-95. It would be nice if one of these tours would venture to Seaside Park, the gem of the city and the only public beach on the "Gold Coast" that has a 2.5 mile road along the sand & water which wasn't mostly bought up by the rich as in the other towns. As far as crime goes, New Haven and Hartford have higher violent crime rates than Bridgeport and CT has a lower crime rate than the national average at 3.9 versus 6.5 per 100K.

There are some really beautiful neighborhoods in Bridgeport that you should record instead of only showing the bad. We have black rock which is the majority white neighborhood that borders Fairfield and is pretty trendy and artsy, you have Brooklawn which is a mixed single family and multi residential neighborhood( where I was born and raised) which is pretty nice, and then the north end and north sides which are your typical middle class neighborhoods with modest single family homes( ranches, colonials, and capes) with the two cars parked in every home and minimal crime. You should try and highlight those neighborhoods more often. It frustrates me how people only highlight the bad in Bridgeport and then wonder why it doesn’t get any better. Honestly ask yourself who’s going to want to move here or invest here if all they hear is bad things.
