  • In this video, Andy shows us how to size a home battery solution using the solar calculator from SolarReviews. There is no one-size-fits-all answer - finding the right solar battery. Calculating solar battery size depends on what you want out of the battery. Some homeowners want home battery backup in case the power goes out. Sizing a battery backup system will depend on what appliances you want to run and for how long. Others calculate battery size based on how much energy they use when power is most expensive. Then, they can charge the battery when electricity is cheap and drain it when rates are high to reduce their energy bills. The most economical option for home battery storage is finding the right battery size for your solar system. You can size your battery bank based on how much excess solar energy your solar panels will produce during the day. This way, you aren't buying solar batteries that your panels will never be able to charge. The SolarReviews home solar battery calculator lets you choose how you would like to use a battery, so you can easily find what size battery bank will meet your needs.

I live in Cape Town, South Africa. I am a pensioner so have very little spare cash. I built a 24v 50ah battery with BMS with 4 * 100w solar panels connected in series with Victron solar charger and a 3000w chinese inverter. This gets my 2 small fridges and freezer running while the sun shines. We have power outages all the time called "load shedding" between 2 and 4 hours at a time. I am going to upgrade the battery to 24v 200ah when I have saved the money, probaly in 4 months time, then save for a 48v system.

Don't bother watching. The website doesn't work anymore. Just sits there "retrieving results".

Corded power tools only list one number in AMP's, is it usually the starting or running AMPS???

Think there was a different reason for systems without a battery. A there weren't any and B if there was a battery available the ROI was 40 years iow too expensive. They have become a little cheaper but not at a pricepoint where they should be.

Simple, if you want to save money running off batteries, reduce your usage so you need fewer batteries!

How do you calculate 18kw solar needs 45kWh?

    • @niccatipay
      @niccatipay 8 месяцев назад

      Non profesional input here.
Do you want 18kwh (total energy storage)
If you want 18 kwh storage you may have to consider the ff.
      Battery type
      (Lead, Ni-Ca, Li-Po)
      System configuration
      (12v, 24v, 48v)
      Approximate loss
      (Powerloss in conversion)
      Prefered Backup
(If you need power for medical, security, fridge, and comunication)
      Avg power usage
(assume combined discharge for entire day)
      Peak power discharge
      (appliance more than 1 kw)
There might be more, but these are what I recomend looking out for.

What does the size of battery you need have to do with solar power? The battery size should be obvious from your power needs in the home.

    How much is one battery

    • @SolarReviews

Hi Peter. On average, a solar battery installation can cost between $9,000-$14,000. However, battery storage systems qualify for the 30% federal solar tax credit. The best way to compare prices for batteries is to look at the cost per kWh.
