Detailed step-by-step instructions to make the matchbox miniature book are given below:
This tutorial uses things you will hopefully have at home or can get easily.
You will need: a small matchbox, scissors, craft knife, kitchen knife with a serrated edge, ruler, glue, binder clip or clothes' peg, plain paper for the inside pages, and coloured paper for the end-paper.
Cut the matchbox to make the cover of your mini book.
Carefully measure the size of the matchbox, and cut pages of exactly the same size.
Cut as many pages as needed to fill the spine of the matchbox cover.
Align the pages and hold them together tightly, using a tight binder clip or clothes peg.
Cut some grooves along the spine, using a serrated kitchen knife.
Do this carefully and thoroughly. Depth of grooves: roughly 0.5 mm.
Cut a piece of paper of the same height as the pages, and about 4 cm wide.
Apply glue thoroughly to the grooves in the spine.
Stick the paper to the spine and firmly press and remove extra glue.
Leave to dry for 30-60 minutes.
Place the bound pages into the matchbox cover, aligning the spine.
Choose end-paper to complement the cover, and cut 2 pieces, double the width of your book page. Fold in half. Apply glue to the cover and the outermost pages of the bound pages, and stick the end paper as shown.
Press the book to ensure it is tightly stuck, and keep it under something heavy to dry properly.
