My opinion is that they both got lucky. He is perfect for this role and show, while on other shows he isnt so well fitting.

Every interview I see with him he always gives a big shout out to the Irish and the Irish crew. He seems like a really genuine nice guy.

Crikey mate I wouldn't say that's the only thing. Obviously Australia is made up of a lot of people of Irish descent, and the people in certain places are likely similar in temperament, so he probably feels kinship in that regard as well.

Actually there are no helmets whats so ever the whole show on vikings.
actually there are a strange leader healment in some shoots, but besides that no, seems like the crator dont like the normal metal helments in their serie

Julius ceaser and a few greeks speak of it. Dumb interview by a dumb show. I'm glad Travis felt the need to point out the horned helm myth, but it's a shame he and many other people view beards as "hipster", lol. A beard's about as natural as it gets, even if some cringey hipsters decide to sport them.

I fell so in love with Ragnar so now he is a like part of me. Fimmel portrayed Ragnar so good that it was impossible to not adore him. Now that he is fading away i feel like a part of me is dying with him..

I know I am late to this boat but He claims he is lucky to get the job but they were lucky to have him, he played the role so well the show would simply not be the same without him and now his character, Ragnar was killed off it is almost unwatchable for me, someone who was so invested in his character and his story, he is a great actor and hope to see him in more shows and movies.

odd enough.. i never saw a viking using a helmet in the show and not talking about horned helms either... when possible a viking would use always a helmet, not using a helmet or a shield was considered tremendously stupid if you had one at hand
Vikings actuall rarely used helmets. They usually made lightning attacks and not really avioded death as individuals so no big deal.
Only some tremendously rich ones and chieftains started waering them in the later viking age.
fair enough.. we all know not every viking could use a sword or a chainmail and they were highly valuable items at the time... but examine every ancient tapestry of the time or ancient drawings, vikings are almost always using a helmet... so it is a bit strange that not even 1 viking in the show wears one, perhaps to show off the odd looking haircuts? (i'm not saying there weren't odd haircuts at the time either)
