Very sad. I think the game is much better than Overwatch 2. And for me, this game has some sentimental value. My son was born in November, and while he was in the hospital, Gundam Evolution was the game I played while waiting until we could bring him home. Feels bad man 😢
The announcement was pretty sad, but bamco being bamco it wasn't terribly unexpected. I'll be sticking it out until the end too. Shame they just never seemed to learn any lessons or make the changes they needed to at any point in the game's lifecycle, but, again, bandai namco.
Yeah they had a chance to breath life back into the game by just giving a way to grind for capital, but unfortunately they were too stubborn to make that change.
Yeah, nothing really rewarding in the game makes it pretty much dead when people have to grind for the battle pass level each season only to unlock 1 suit at a time is pretty suck.
I mean you hit it right in the head, I agree, they often see things like this as a lack of interest in Gundam games in the west.. They should be paying attention to what FromSoftware is doing with Armored Core 6. Gundam can have a presence, they just have to execute it properly.. and not just give up.
As a content creator for gundam evo it was depressing to see this news, i was thinking that this game would last long for 3 or 4 years, but did not expect that it will end sooner. all i know is i hope someone can do a community server for this game because its the only game that i played very frequently, until then imma make the most fun it.
Gun Evo was one of the first shooters I've enjoyed in a while. Even though the monetization was awful, the gameplay was great and I'll miss it when it's gone. Good luck man.
I don't stream or make videos on the game that often recently, but I still play it every day and I don't wanna see it disappear without some fanfare. If y'all would have me I'd love to throw my hat into this RUclipsr custom match ring thing!
This really does depress me. It's been a while since I played, but I always thought the game had a lot of potential, and wanted it to thrive. Unfortunately, Bandai Namco is its worst enemy, and nothing they've done have been to the game's favor. I've got some memories to go with this, so it's a 'better to have loved and lost than never to have never have loved at all' situation, though far less drastic than that. Either way, it was a starting point for ya, FireSpyke. Looking forward to what else will be a mainstay for you.
Sad news indeed! I only recently got into this game as a console user and I've really been enjoying it. Really hope if Armoured Core VI does well they'll realise there is a huge want for new mech games, especially in the Gundam universe. Don't understand why they can't take the formula from other popular mech games like Titanfall and just set it in the Gundam world, I would throw my money at it in a heartbeat!
Actually there's not unfortunately. Mech games have historically not been financially lucrative as other grenes. Mecha fans are a proud and loud minority but we're still a minority
Lacking crossplay definitely stacked the odds against a game with this sort of niche appeal by default. Personally, the general lack of mics on ranked was enough to stop me from grinding a month or so ago. At its best, this game was so great. Sad it wasn't given as fair a chance as it deserved. RIP, Evolution Sazabi. You were a bro.
@@TsubasaYozoraCh oh stop it that shit is old news you can see these new generation fighting games like T8, SF6 and KOFXV have crossplays with PSN this is aint 2019 anymore blame BamCo for not implementing crossplay for this game and yall kept blaming other companies for others failure its a niche game and they decide yeah no crossplay lol its just sad what will happen to this game
It's rough man, and I'm sure the irony is not lost on you after just announcing going pro, but personally I still intend to watch your content regardless of where you go from here, gundam or not. You're commentary is great and I hope you figure out what you want to do next. Hang in there man :)
So worse part is like you said, they are letting you earn capitol in the game now + they also removed the unit requirements for dailies. Seems to me like they wanted to do this change for a while but the cooperate side wanted to make more money and told them no. Now that the game is going down they are like, "Do what you want now." It's dumb
i was super sad when i first heard this news g-evo was the first class shooter i enjoyed since tf2 and even if the balance was wack at times, it had a silly charm to it that i appreciated sazabi and barbatos will forever hold a special place in my heart.
I had the greatest fight of my life against a Barbatos as Exia. We ran into each other on the way to the objective, both our teams on the other side of the map already there. We were two legendary melee suits. We knew what we had to do. We went tit for tat, using our abilities to jump over walls chasing each other. Finally we were both down to 1 hit, he charges behind a wall and jumps over it for the final strike, I see him in the air, barely charge the GN Blade and let it rip. We clashed MID AIR, and to my surprise the GN Blade won the kill. I just stood there like an idiot by his disabled suit for a second because I couldn't believe that fight. I didn't even destroy his suit afterwards. And I have the video to prove it Moments like that are why I'll miss this game. It wasn't perfect or even close, but it could be really damn fun and leave you with some sweaty hands. It's been real, Gundam Evolution
Seeing Gundam Evo shut down actually gettin me sad, without this game i would have never started watching the series or getting gunpla. Spent Hundreds of hours playing with my buddies and now its gone just like that. You bet my ass youll see me in game before its shut down. SIEG ZEON!!!
o7 I will be fighting one for these last 4 months we have. I wish it could’ve gone for longer, however. When the time comes, and when the servers shut down. I will be back to pay my respects.
@@TYC7343 I heard there's a petition online in order to save the game it has 2k signatures so far so there's a sliver of hope that the game might be saved.
This was one of my favorite games I’ve ever played, man. Part of me doesn’t want to play it anymore because if I do it’s gonna make it hurt even more once it’s gone. But, despite that, I’m sticking it out till the bitter end. Thanks for the memories, Gundam Evolution. As Orga once said: “As long as we don't stop, the road will continue. I'm not stopping. As long as you all don't stop, I'll be at the end waiting for you.”
Definitely am sad to see this game go. Been playing and streaming it a lot myself (since Season 1!) after bailing on Overwatch, and always held that it was better than OW2 to boot. Part of me quietly hopes that all the attention from folks not wanting it to go will get them to rethink things but I am doubtful that will happen. So the best I can do is enjoy what's left of it. See what the last two suits are, see those last maps, and continue playing until it's shut down in November.
My genuine hope is that considering this is one of the few times this has *ever* happened with a Gundam game, fans can datamine the game and open up their own servers so there can at least be continued play of it after the fact as there has been with projects like toontown and club penguin. There's also high potential with mods in this scenario, due to the game being built off of the publically available Unreal Engine, which is used in a lot of games and has been documented greatly. Maybe asking for a lot, but with how few Gundam games there are on PC, I hope this can somehow gain traction as a fan project game where people can mod it to add new units and make new servers for it... but who is to say really?
A lot of cope here, sadly. The moment someone does this, Bandai will likely file a C&D. In the unlikely event they do not do so immediately, the moment this project finds any amount of success, Bandai will then come in with a C&D and/or sue. Best case scenario is someone goes the Pokemon Fusion route, where its basically the same game, just instead Gundam its Gudaman, Methuzzy, and GMC Shipper. And Susanowo can finally be....Susan.
To Quote a certain Underwater Mobile Suit Forum: >Start game off with a wild mixture of various MS from lead Gundams to villain suits to oddball picks like the Marasai and Mahiroo >After launch the only new suits added are all Gundams (Asides from the Mahiroo) >Release almost simultaneously with the most popular Gundam anime in years >Do no cross promotion asides from some sprays/icons made from reused assets >Have the ability for custom skins in a series where OC Donut Steel Zaku variants are rampant and could easily do some no-brainer skins like Zeta colors Marasai, TV Heavyarms colors, etc. >Just do generic "What if it was purple" skins for the most part, paywall iconic skins like Char's Zaku behind an exuberant price >Maps are all generic locations with zero connection to anything from Gundam >No backfill at launch and rooms shutting down as soon as someone lost a connection meant that finding games took forever even for a new FPS >End up with a FPS that plays to neither Japan or the US's sensibilities I'm kinda sad that it barely lasted a whole year but jesus christ.
I am a hardcore gundam fan and yeah honestly, I really expected this outcome. Because the game state overall doesn't really pull players. Retention comes to the fact that the units they are released comes with the ease of unlocking the units not being stuck grinding for events or battle pass that isn't even obtainable for free. I myself didn't really play too much after unlocking Exia way back before even Nu Gundam was added. It really is annoying that its so hard to unlock units, and is probably one of the big reasons a player may come back and play more. Quite sad really as a gundam fan because gundam games lately has been going on a downhill, GBO2 apparently has negative reviews on steam, Gundam breaker went away months or years ago, and now we're losing another gundam game. And all the other gundam games are console-based only and we can't have a good gundam game in PC which have a lot more audience.
Bamco repeatedly shooting itself in the knees and wondering why it cant run every year is the most frustrating thing I can think of. "Why didnt the game I barely advertised pre/post launch and didnt ever release in a decent amount of regions do well?"
Personally I blame how grindy it is. The inability for Free To Play to get Mobile Suits and have the same strategic options was a blow gameplay wise. And it's not the most beginner friendly game. Easy for new players to get dropped into a game of high level players, even in casual, and just get eaten alive.
this game actually got me into gundam as a whole. I’ve watched gundam since, and even bought myself a real grade nu gundam that I’ve had fun putting together. that being said it’s really sad seeing as this game was the catalyst for my introduction into the gundam world. I love this game, and play it a ton and it’s really disappointing to see this. you and degenerasian have provided such good content and entertainment, so all in all this really is a big let down and in my opinion, waste of potential
@@firespykegamesthey’re a ton of fun. also want to say I’m fs going to continue to follow your content no matter where it goes next, thank you for what you’ve done so far and keep it up!!!
It honestly killed me inside when I read the news. Loved this game and had so much fun with it, but now knowing it's all gonna be gone just left me teary eyed. I started playing Exo Primal if you wanna try that out, it's been a good time too plus there's mecha suits and dinosaurs so that's rad. Thanks for the videos, dude and helping give my GunEvo fix when I was on my breaks at worked. I always enjoyed your gameplay
Super depressing, first game I’ve actually consistently played for a long time. Fortunately Armored Core 6 is coming out… hopefully it has a robust pvp :/
It's honestly heartbreaking to see this game die, there where so many mobile suits I wanted to be added and do many different skins to unlock or buy but at the end of the day Bandai Namco were once again to greedy for there own good and it's this stubborn attitude that's going to kill them in the end .
Found you from a meme compilation of Gundam Evo content creators. Sad to see the game go because it always had a lot of potential but I'll definitely stick around to see where your channel goes. You're just an enjoyable dude to listen to and your narrations are top tier.
This is very sad. The absolute best part of this game was the comunity, your channel included. We tried our best with what we where given, so don't let them make you think that it was the fauld of the players. Man im gonna miss our Guntank chunky boy... you wont be able to fast ress us from this one. And you pilot will be remembered, hope to see you making content in another game, with the positive actitude that, for me, identifies your channel.
I played Overwatch 1 a ton pre release and for like 1 year after release and stopped when it got worse. This was the first FPS team game I’ve enjoyed since then. It’s sad there’s no other good options like this game. Even more sad that there’s no decent Gundam games to play that are recent. Hopefully something is in progress but Bandai doesn’t seem to care.
This news makes me sad to heal this game is literally been my favorite since it dropped I remember watching the trailer for it that back in the summer I forget the year but I've had so much fun playing this game with my friends and to hear that they're taking it away well I will stay with it to the end just as zeon fought to The Bitter End so shall I sieg Zeon glory to the principality of Zeon and Long Live Gundam evolution 😭
I just found your channel a few months ago and it changed the way I played the game. It is a sad time when I just started to learn the game and really enjoyed your content, especially now that you got into a team. I look forward to seeing what you bring us going forward
Hey bro, been watching your vids since the beginning of gundam evo, and very thankful for your work! Sad to see this headline and to know that things will be coming to a close. Will continue to play this game out till then, and i look forward to your future content!! Cheers!
Despite playing many FPS games, Gundam Evolution is my favorite FPS. I really enjoy it’s core gameplay and (although somewhat necessary in higher rank) mostly requires no team comp. The balance of the game has mostly been pretty solid. Also, I’ve always been a fan of Gundam and it’s mech designs, so the Gundam IP has always been a hook for me. I’m very upset it’s shutting down. Bandai didn’t really care about Gundam Evo and it shows. Despite it all, I’m going to enjoy Gundam Evolution as much as I can before it’s shut down. I just wished we got more time with Gundam Evo. Thanks for sticking with the game, FireSpyke, I’ve always enjoyed your videos.
I really am so sad this game will be going, I haven't had the time to play it the past month so I was in "I'll pick it up when things aren't so busy" but then this news hits
Gun-Evo was the first Gundam game I've truly enjoyed playing and returned to play, just because how much I liked it. I never got into the mobile games, I don't play those, I really dislike the SD titles and GBO2 is horrendous in it's match making and I really dislike how slow the controls are. There has been no other game for me that captured what I wanted out of a Gundam game, so the fact that it's being ripped away has been heartbreaking. I can't believe they have a new unit planned for the month before the game shuts down completely, why even bother?
i am devastated to hear the news that the game was shutting down. I'm gonna keep playing until it ends and try to get that newtype rank. Another issue you never mention was the reconnect function so if your net dropped suddenly or game crashed you are forced to wait until the game was finished.
As much as I enjoyed this game for the 50 or so hours I put into it, and as much as I think it deserves its unique niche among all the hero shooters, we can't really be surprised by this. Between the lack of new content besides paywalled suits, the general monetization scheme choking the life out of the F2P experience, and another Bandai-backed mech game coming out next month, G-Evo was never going to last much longer. But hey, it's been nice while it's lasted. I hope you can find another game to transfer your audience to in the coming months, I'll probably be there for whatever it is
I'm sad the servers are shutting down. Gundam Evo was one of those games I had fun playing in a long time. I would get off of work and play Gundam. One thing I wish they could do was different Game Modes. They only introduced one new Game Mode on one map only. They could of added Team Death Match (Where a kill will only be counted if a unit was destroyed, not down.) Another Game Mode which could of work was an Objective Style Match, or Capture the Flag. Oh well, I will miss this game. It's going to be hard finding a replacement. Enjoyment wise, not Gameplay style wise.
It really saddens me like I played the game since season 1 and though I skipped a few seasons because I dont have the space for it, it was on my mind. First hero shooter game I played and Im sad to see it go. Goodbye my beloved Z2R Lets enjoy the game while we still can.
Gotta love those game services. Definitely no downsides whatsoever. But seriously, this sucks. I jumped back to this game after the PvE fiasco for overwatch, and now this is going too. Just can't win. If only they would allow us to play the game without their servers, but that's just crazy talk. Unfortunately I don't think I will return to this game after hearing this news. I feel too betrayed to want to play this game anymore. I do hope you enjoy what time is left of this game though. Will keep watch you as your commentary is relaxing to hear.
Yeah it can be hard to get attached to these live service games when they can just disappear faster than they took to develop. I'll be sticking around but I can understand why you feel burned by it.
ironically from the 26th with the mtx removed we'll be able to experience this game in its purest, honest form. Don't stop queuing! We gotta make some memories!
Gundam Evo has been a fun time in my life. As a Gundam fan, it's only natural that I'd play it. And boy am I glad that I did! Many fun moments made. Although I only occasionally played for 1-2 weeks at a time around each new unit release. Honestly didn't regret spending a little bit of buck to skip the capital grind and get the Heavyarms, which I subsequently became the main of and was pretty good at. Hearing about the shutdown for the first time yesterday was... Very shocking, but should've been expected. I did feel a little desolate inside though. A game that I consider one of my favourites of all time shutting down? This can't be true! But alas, its time has come. I've considered playing Battle Operation 2 before but I don't think I'd get into it. Might take me until Armored Core 6 for a new mech-based game to fall in love with. Been great watching your videos and I hope you are able to find success in something other than Gundam Evo, I stick around to good creators when I find them and you are definitely a good creator.
I will miss the game. It was really fun. And I also enjoy your videos about the game where I even try the things you did like punching the Turn A butterfly. Thank you FireSpyke for the videos.
Huh this comment got marked as spam for some reason and got filtered out so I didn't see it until now. Sorry about that. Thanks for watching and I'm glad you enjoyed the videos!
This is the game that got me into Gundam in the first place and one of the only hero shooters I've ever really loved. Absolutely fell head over heels with Methuss and barbie!!! I'm so sad it's gonna be over. Played it ever since it came out on xbox
Well, where you wanna go depends on your goals with it. If you wanna compete then OW2 is the place to go (especially since it seems we go back to a more "grassroots" approach to their esports scene) but if you just wanna have fun and make content there's a lot to unpack in Paladins despite it having literally 0 competitive support aside from Ranked Queue. It's a shame, I liked Gundam Evo even if I had lots of gripes with it. Every movement felt clunky and abilities usually missed the mark in terms of sound and effects design but even despite that I was happy with having another Hero Shooter to delve into
Sad to hear the game is shutting down, 'cause i really enjoy playing this despite the issues like fill in and connection issues. And watching you and other gundam evo youtuber became my routine
At first I was sad to hear about the end of support, then I was pissed to see that they're outright shutting down the servers barely one year after release. Seems extremely cheap especially considering the new content that is still being released and evidently only playable for a couple months at most. Still interested to see what kind of content you put out, been a fan of your channel for a while.
I just started playing like a month ago and I was loving the game (with all its evident flaws and everything). Now I just feel sad, I don't even want to play anymore, but I will probably still do it from time to time. Thankfully I haven't wasted any real money to buy coins, but it still sucks that we will lose everything we unlocked and bought.
That's very sad specially for us that are gundam fans and xbox players. Gundam Evolution is the only gundam game (except battle alliance) that we have avaliable, the game is actually very good definitely surprised me, yeah it had some kinda big flaws (progression) but overall it had a lot of potential and a game that brought me a lot of joy and fun.
I have been playing since season 1 with low frequency, started maxing season pass in 2. I started watching your videos in season 3, it was a joyful ride from start to finish. I was never a FPS person but because of EVO I got good and started playing with mouse instead of controllers, made huge improvement not pro levels, I will stick around until the last season for goods and bass
This is so sad I don’t understand why would they shut the game down, its such an amazing game, like I’ve never enjoyed a heavy class in a hero shooter like Gundam Heavy Arms Custom EW
What I think really killed the game is its bad monetization, they tried fixing it mid-way but it was too late, the only thing that was really worth getting at the time was the season pass, but they made the season pass in a way that you can buy the next season pass without spending any more money, which was also a killshot for them. Really sad this game hat to go, my only copium is that they re-release this game again in the future with better monetization and match making with a new title.
Problems that caused the low player numbers: Almost no advertisements outside of Twitter. Playable MS roster is so few. GBO2 snatched majority of the PC players away. Old daily & weekly missions was so tedious, it didn't appeal to casual players. HQ Mode made people get fed up due to the unnecessary long match times. HQ Mode has a huge snowball effect, effectively demoralizing players on the losing side. Matchmaking is stupid to the point you get teamed up with lower ranks despite being way waaay higher than them. Not much incentive to make newcomers to play longer. Skins of MS and weapons are so generic and lackluster. (Just add stripes or only single/two color pallete) Too many regions/countries can't play the game. Few maps.
I got one season pass and its been funding my suits and future passes ever since, and thats amazing because it gave me a reason to come back, it felt good and I felt like I was progressing Now I got taken out back and shot
You pretty much said it all. The fixes were obvious. Everyone has been crying out for them. And now here we are getting one of the biggest content drops right before it dies. It's a tough pill to swallow. Really love this game and don't know what to replace it with.
The same feeling is the same with mine FireSpyke, I am with you in the end also buddy. Can I make suggestion to incorporating Battlebit Remastered since it would fit perfectly with your commentary as the game goes on. Hope to see more soon buddy.
It's a horrible shame It's an incredibly fun class-shooter at it's core, but it really did feel almost sabotaged with how predatory the monetization was and the non-existent marketing for the poor game. For the short time I've been playing it, I will miss it dearly.
Whyyyyyyyyyyyy is it shutting down :((((((( I started playing early 2023 and enjoyed it alot, I haven't unlocked any new characters and I'm saving for unicorn, I'm so close and there is going to be a chance I'll never get it 😢 I've really enjoyed the game and I'm so sad it's shutting down. Rest In Peace Gundam evolution 😭😭😭
it was a great game for s1 to s2 personally felt refreshing from sweaty grindloot and sweats play i will miss this Ps : from 1,000+ hour destiny 2 game
You know what would have helped? Opening the game for people from the world to play without needing vpn - they kind of killed the game before it started.
With the game ending, they should just unlock all the Suits and let everyone have fun. Although personnally, the only game mode I enjoyed was capture point challenge. Playing defence always felt boring for me.
This game is what introduced me to the anime, and honestly, I fell in love with the game and anime after playing this game for a while. It's a shame that such a good game is shutting down because honestly, I think it's great
the big things that killed this game imo are 1) Barbie - ruined the game for most casual players (especially on console), devs kept either not nerfing it or giving it the most inconsequential nerfs and other units that dont need nerfs just kept getting rekt 2) Nothing really to work towards especially when you finish the season pass 3) No real events 4) The daily weekly missions were not fun. As someone that only had time to play 3 games a day when i had the play 15 games weekly mission with X unit i was more or less stuck with that same unit for almost every game that week. It usually made me end up not liking the unit bc i would get burnt out. Also yes i know we could just swap out and it would count towards the mission but that's also not something i should have to deal with. 5) PC and console releases being months apart. Kinda hard to build hype when the big pc hype at launch and big console hype 2 months later did not overlap. 6) Unified balancing between pc and console as well as poor balancing. The should have balanced each separately especially for a game that wanted to be a competitive esports game. 7) Skins just sucked honestly. We started to get some cooler skins with sound effects but that was too little too late. Everyone i talked too found the palate swaps both lazy and uninteresting. 8) Updates that were too far apart. New suits really needed to be released every month 9) monetization for the reasons in the video 10) game needed some quality of life updates like spawning the defending team by first check point for the first spawn at the start of the game and reducing the setup timer
Yea, it's a real shame. This game honestly have plenty of potential. I guess it's just not making enough money, which is weirder since there's barely any advertising or marketing for this game to really catch attention.
I was thinking about you when i first heard this because of you just joining a team. Very sad news indeed, this game has put me in touch with some cool people, including yourself. Also, i thank you for putting my channel in your top comment. I am honored to be thought of.
I've kinda expected this to happen though not this soon. I really liked this game until I got burnt out in a couple weeks of playing almost non-stop and spending so long trying to find matches and just frustrated with possibly the most counter-intuitive leaver penalty I've ever seen in a game. I think G Evo ultimately met this fate from sort of being the embodiment "games as a service." Tiny amount of mobiles suits and a tiny amount of maps and modes at launch but a jam-packed cash shop. Honestly I think G Evo has a lot of reasons to die and I am kinda happy? Happy in that I think Bamco needed this to fail so they realize all of G Evo's shortcomings and don't have them in whatever future games they make. I do feel sad for people who have loomed past G Evo's shortcomings and genuinely enjoyed as I don't think there really is a game that plays and feels lile it, so good luck to wherever you peeps go. Uh.. have a good one Also a slight clarification about Overwatch but you actually can obtain new heroes for free if you are very patient. Whenever a new battlepass comes out and you don't have the hero from the previous one, the previous new hero becomes obtainable from doing challenges.
Im sad Gundam evo s ending but im not surprised its shutting down just that its happening so soon. It didn’t innovate itself enough between seasons Not enough new maps. No new game modes Horrible monetisation It had potential but was obviously not give the resources needed.
This sucks a lot, as I love Gundam, and it was the first game I've played of theirs. I came back to the game after a while just to come and see that it's going away.
These game is much batter then overwotch 2 It's so sad man i love these game since the first ever gameplay video back in 2019 I think It's so sad seeing these fantastic game end like these 😭
This is the first game I ever played in my life (33 years old atm) where I have actually been part of the ride playing a game that had a shutdown announcement. This game's potential was so high and so indescribably wasted that it actually drills home hard and hurts that it's gonna be over in a few months. I have plans to upload more GEVO content before it is over so that when it is all said over, my channel will have every last bit of information regarding how GEVO was and used to be that even after it is shut down, there will still be something for people to go back to and watch. It was not a bad game, but an unfortunate victim of Bandai Namco releasing 100 games and competing with itself wondering why GEVO isn't making any money.
So battle operations 2 which is only on 2 systems and is old does very well but this game bombs while being more recent and available on all systems blows my mind this is actually a great game smart that its a hero shooter especially since each mobile suit is special in its own right anyways its a bummer this is happening
Sad news. I have been playing this game from season 1 and hearing this makes me appreciate all those hours I put into it. Sure the matchmaking is a problem due to lack of people playing this on both steam and bandai launcher, suits are OP that they can solo the entire map in the right hand,... But then again when you hear the game is about to be shut down, all of those things, they do not matter anymore. This game and Monster Hunter is where me and my friends hang out the most so seeing it shut down is like seeing your childhood playground got grazed by the authority for some dumb reason.
This game got me and a few buds to reunite over Gundam we'd love to see in the game and talk about abilities and stuff This sucks Love your content by the way, keep up the great work mate
Bro I love the Mecha Games and it is so sad to see this game shutting down so soon. I hope you'd love AC6 even tho this is my first time watching your video, I'd love to see your AC6 or other mecha game vids. Gundam is one of my fav anime as well. IM SO SAD.
This game turned out to be a hero shooter I could really get into after I got burned out on OW. Don't know if I'll ever play another hero shooter that lets you dash and revive like this one, or lets me play like Heavyarms did. A heavy machine gunner that can flip and dash around? Never again...
Such a shame, I really enjoyed the game. Mad respect for the developers for still continuing with the updates. And goodluck to FireSpyke Games in the future.
Potential was there…. But if this was supposed to be a “Overwatch killer” then they flopped terribly…. If this was to just make a cool Gundam “Overwatch” game then cool good effort but they needed to fix so much and the time periods between patches and updates was so lack luster…. They should’ve given the game special events to give a reason for players to come back but still there’s a lot that could’ve been done RIP GunEvo
As a player who didnt play a lot and only ever got to pilot rank 40ish heres my thoughts. The monetization /way to earn currency and the balance patches killed the game for me. Earning capital points was almost non existent. Also most of the balances came out of left field and most didnt make sense.
I used to play this game the first two months it was out but then stopped afterwards. I don't hate the game but Bandai heavily dropped the ball when it came to this game. The issues at launch, no capital gain, The monetization was quite literally beginning the descent for the game. The game really had potential which is the upsetting part. But honestly, not surprised the game ended up having to shut down. But tbh I wasn't expecting it to be this early.
I started playing this game 20 days before the last season finished (since the game wasn't available on my region) this is the only pvp game that i enjoyed actually :( it sucks too see this game getting shutdown... Something i've been thinking is ¿why not make all suits free from now on? the game it's gonna shutdown in the end so what's the point on grinding for capital points (i love how they waited for the end to give us more ways on earning the currency) anyways i guess gonna try to play a lot for the final months Thanks for the videos man, just discovered your channel weeks ago thanks to this game and i've been watching all your videos to get some tips on how to play certain units 👍

I dont want them to shut down
Very sad. I think the game is much better than Overwatch 2.
And for me, this game has some sentimental value. My son was born in November, and while he was in the hospital, Gundam Evolution was the game I played while waiting until we could bring him home.
Feels bad man 😢
There is no Easter bunny, there is no tooth fairy, and there is no Overwatch 2.
If Gundam taught us anything, it's that everything dies eventually
@@zSTALKn I wish lmao
It is so much better than ow2😢
Hopefully you and your family are well :)
Is there any way to play this offline?
I mean you hit it right in the head, I agree, they often see things like this as a lack of interest in Gundam games in the west..
They should be paying attention to what FromSoftware is doing with Armored Core 6.
Gundam can have a presence, they just have to execute it properly.. and not just give up.
As a content creator for gundam evo it was depressing to see this news, i was thinking that this game would last long for 3 or 4 years, but did not expect that it will end sooner. all i know is i hope someone can do a community server for this game because its the only game that i played very frequently, until then imma make the most fun it.
Let's do it!
Agreed 100%
hope we meet some other place. tribes ascend 2 maybe?? well fuck live service games. not picking another one again
I've hear Armored Core 6 will have a pvp mode, could be a solid replacement for this
We need a community server
Gun Evo was one of the first shooters I've enjoyed in a while. Even though the monetization was awful, the gameplay was great and I'll miss it when it's gone. Good luck man.
Same here it’s the only one I’m decent at out sad but at least we have a little bit longer
Was also thinking that it would be super awesome to do a youtubers/twitch streamers to do a custom match, play for fun it would be dope
I'm in! (If I count haha)
Yeah that'd be fun. We should definitely get a group going sometime.
If you need someone im here for it lol
Thanks! Appreciate the support
Looking forward to Armored Core as well. It'll be my first in the series but it looks fun.
Actually there's not unfortunately. Mech games have historically not been financially lucrative as other grenes. Mecha fans are a proud and loud minority but we're still a minority
@@firespykegames im from the future, ac6 is a banger
@@SaintNick420 Agreed. I just started playing it earlier this week.
@@firespykegames im past ng++ been having fun just building acs and trying it out in multiplayer
You were a bro.
u can blame sony for that.
Thanks. Really appreciate the support!
So worse part is like you said, they are letting you earn capitol in the game now + they also removed the unit requirements for dailies. Seems to me like they wanted to do this change for a while but the cooperate side wanted to make more money and told them no. Now that the game is going down they are like, "Do what you want now." It's dumb
it is sad that what the players are asking for are only given when the game has its death in sight.
@@duncanchiu3659 Yep. The monkey's paw curls
i was super sad when i first heard this news
g-evo was the first class shooter i enjoyed since tf2 and even if the balance was wack at times, it had a silly charm to it that i appreciated
sazabi and barbatos will forever hold a special place in my heart.
As a nu gundam main yall barbatos player were the worst thing to exist but as a gundam fan i will miss this great game
And I have the video to prove it
Moments like that are why I'll miss this game.
I know some people think it was a bad "Gundam" game, but I think it did get a lot of people into the series for the first time.
for anyone else wishing to see the gundam evolution off proper, i'll be with you guys on the field as the final bombs fall

I will be fighting one for these last 4 months we have.

I will be playing until the very last second of service. For me its not over until the last Guntanks WOOOOOOOOO!
I really hope this happens, GunEvo had a lot of potential and not just thrown off like garbage after almost a year after it's release.
To Quote a certain Underwater Mobile Suit Forum:
>Start game off with a wild mixture of various MS from lead Gundams to villain suits to oddball picks like the Marasai and Mahiroo
>After launch the only new suits added are all Gundams (Asides from the Mahiroo)
>Release almost simultaneously with the most popular Gundam anime in years
>Do no cross promotion asides from some sprays/icons made from reused assets
>Have the ability for custom skins in a series where OC Donut Steel Zaku variants are rampant and could easily do some no-brainer skins like Zeta colors Marasai, TV Heavyarms colors, etc.
>Just do generic "What if it was purple" skins for the most part, paywall iconic skins like Char's Zaku behind an exuberant price
>Maps are all generic locations with zero connection to anything from Gundam
>No backfill at launch and rooms shutting down as soon as someone lost a connection meant that finding games took forever even for a new FPS
>End up with a FPS that plays to neither Japan or the US's sensibilities
I'm kinda sad that it barely lasted a whole year but jesus christ.
I felt like after hearing the announcement my performance of gameplay suck now I guess we have to have fun while we can
The only fps shooter I enjoyed for a while. :( I'm so sad
Always appreciated and will continue to appreciate your Gundam Evo videos up until the end!
Thanks!
Bamco repeatedly shooting itself in the knees and wondering why it cant run every year is the most frustrating thing I can think of. "Why didnt the game I barely advertised pre/post launch and didnt ever release in a decent amount of regions do well?"
This game is really good how is it possible that it has less player base than paladins
It got no advertising
It also doesn’t exist in some countries
Personally I blame how grindy it is. The inability for Free To Play to get Mobile Suits and have the same strategic options was a blow gameplay wise. And it's not the most beginner friendly game. Easy for new players to get dropped into a game of high level players, even in casual, and just get eaten alive.
@@AceOfVegas like overwatch 2 I guess only thing that's not like that is tf2
this game actually got me into gundam as a whole.

Happy I could help. Thanks for watching!
Thanks! Curious to hear I was in a meme compilation though lol. Any idea where it was from?
This is very sad. The absolute best part of this game was the comunity, your channel included. We tried our best with what we where given, so don't let them make you think that it was the fauld of the players. Man im gonna miss our Guntank chunky boy... you wont be able to fast ress us from this one. And you pilot will be remembered, hope to see you making content in another game, with the positive actitude that, for me, identifies your channel.
This community has been great to me and I'm very thankful for that. I'll also fondly remember our Guntank boy.
its quite sad that they are shutting it down. i play often and its quite fun.
I was happy to see Gundam evolution last week on the Playstation store in Australia and now to hear that they cutting service soon is disappointing
Thanks! Really appreciate the support.
Hey bro, been watching your vids since the beginning of gundam evo, and very thankful for your work! Sad to see this headline and to know that things will be coming to a close. Will continue to play this game out till then, and i look forward to your future content!! Cheers!
Thanks! Appreciate all the support.
This makes me so sad. I love this game. Ive gotten mad at it from time to time but I always end up back on it after a small day or two day break.
Thanks. Glad I was able to bring you some enjoyment!
I can't believe they have a new unit planned for the month before the game shuts down completely, why even bother?
there is gundam Vs but its a console only...for now
Man the kicker is that they were planning on releasing Zeta and Kampfer, and Kampfer releases the month before EOS
i am devastated to hear the news that the game was shutting down.
I hope you can find another game to transfer your audience to in the coming months, I'll probably be there for whatever it is
I can't believe just how fast it went downhill
Goodbye my beloved Z2R
Lets enjoy the game while we still can.
I’d keep an eye out for private servers on this one >_>
ironically from the 26th with the mtx removed we'll be able to experience this game in its purest, honest form.
Thanks! It really means a lot to hear that.
No worries sir FireSpyke. Have a good day.
Every movement felt clunky and abilities usually missed the mark in terms of sound and effects design but even despite that I was happy with having another Hero Shooter to delve into
I will remember it fondly (and sadly) as the game that introduced me to Gundam. I will miss it 🥲
Same 😢
Sad to hear the game is shutting down, 'cause i really enjoy playing this despite the issues like fill in and connection issues. And watching you and other gundam evo youtuber became my routine
Will stay playing until the end
Damn man and here I was thinking about getting into the game for the first time.
Thanks! Hope I can still put out enjoyable stuff even after Evo is gone.
Seems less like selling a game and more like selling an attraction. Play for one year and then the product is taken off your hands.
So, the game's closing just right after we reach the meat and broth ?!
BANDAI, WHY ?!
Happy to have you along for the ride
Nnnnooo!!! Why?! Why?! It hasn’t even been a year since we had this. And this is the best gundam game they’ve made for us fans.
I just cameback to play the game a week ago and was enjoying it a lotttt and now this announcement just came out of nowhere
Problems that caused the low player numbers:
Almost no advertisements outside of Twitter.
(Just add stripes or only single/two color pallete)
Too many regions/countries can't play the game.
Few maps.
I got one season pass and its been funding my suits and future passes ever since, and thats amazing because it gave me a reason to come back, it felt good and I felt like I was progressing
Now I got taken out back and shot
You pretty much said it all. The fixes were obvious. Everyone has been crying out for them. And now here we are getting one of the biggest content drops right before it dies. It's a tough pill to swallow. Really love this game and don't know what to replace it with.
The same feeling is the same with mine FireSpyke, I am with you in the end also buddy. Can I make suggestion to incorporating Battlebit Remastered since it would fit perfectly with your commentary as the game goes on. Hope to see more soon buddy.
I'd be down for trying some Battlebit videos. I've only played a little bit of it so far but it's pretty fun.
@@firespykegames Hope it comes. Stay safe.
It's a horrible shame
It's an incredibly fun class-shooter at it's core, but it really did feel almost sabotaged with how predatory the monetization was and the non-existent marketing for the poor game.
Rest In Peace Gundam evolution 😭😭😭
it was a great game for s1 to s2 personally
felt refreshing from sweaty grindloot and sweats play
i will miss this
Ps : from 1,000+ hour destiny 2 game
You know what would have helped? Opening the game for people from the world to play without needing vpn - they kind of killed the game before it started.
With the game ending, they should just unlock all the Suits and let everyone have fun. Although personnally, the only game mode I enjoyed was capture point challenge. Playing defence always felt boring for me.
I really enjoyed your gundam evo content, and you commentary. Hopefully you can find a new game that speaks to you the same way!
Thanks!
This game is what introduced me to the anime, and honestly, I fell in love with the game and anime after playing this game for a while. It's a shame that such a good game is shutting down because honestly, I think it's great
Same here. It's a real shame that this is happening
Damn i just got into this and was looking forward to all the suits coming. Really wanted to see tallgeese one day.
the big things that killed this game imo are
1) Barbie - ruined the game for most casual players (especially on console), devs kept either not nerfing it or giving it the most inconsequential nerfs and other units that dont need nerfs just kept getting rekt
2) Nothing really to work towards especially when you finish the season pass
3) No real events
4) The daily weekly missions were not fun.
New suits really needed to be released every month
9) monetization for the reasons in the video
10) game needed some quality of life updates like spawning the defending team by first check point for the first spawn at the start of the game and reducing the setup timer
No problem. Always appreciate the support, Link.
Im gonna miss this game. Didn't find out about service ceasing till today. Best play it while you can
I've kinda expected this to happen though not this soon. Uh.. have a good one
Also a slight clarification about Overwatch but you actually can obtain new heroes for free if you are very patient. Whenever a new battlepass comes out and you don't have the hero from the previous one, the previous new hero becomes obtainable from doing challenges.
Im sad Gundam evo s ending but im not surprised its shutting down just that its happening so soon.
It didn’t innovate itself enough between seasons
Not enough new maps.
No new game modes
Horrible monetisation
It had potential but was obviously not give the resources needed.
This sucks a lot, as I love Gundam, and it was the first game I've played of theirs. I came back to the game after a while just to come and see that it's going away.
These game is much batter then overwotch 2
It's so sad man i love these game since the first ever gameplay video back in 2019 I think
It's so sad seeing these fantastic game end like these 😭
This is the first game I ever played in my life (33 years old atm) where I have actually been part of the ride playing a game that had a shutdown announcement.
I ain't goin back to OW. This was that game done right (gameplay wise) and they blew it up
This game got me and a few buds to reunite over Gundam we'd love to see in the game and talk about abilities and stuff
This sucks
Love your content by the way, keep up the great work mate
Thanks! Yeah hopefully we can all find something to fill the void after it's gone.
@@firespykegames I'm sure we will, after all, it's a big world of games out there
Bro I love the Mecha Games and it is so sad to see this game shutting down so soon. I hope you'd love AC6 even tho this is my first time watching your video, I'd love to see your AC6 or other mecha game vids. Gundam is one of my fav anime as well. IM SO SAD.
Definitely planning on checking AC6 out at some point!
This game turned out to be a hero shooter I could really get into after I got burned out on OW. Don't know if I'll ever play another hero shooter that lets you dash and revive like this one, or lets me play like Heavyarms did. A heavy machine gunner that can flip and dash around? Never again...
It's sad it'll be coming to an end this November, but I hope to be able to hang on to the friendships and connections I've made for this game :)
I Hope Bandai would be making a sequel fingers crossed
Such a shame, I really enjoyed the game. Mad respect for the developers for still continuing with the updates. And goodluck to FireSpyke Games in the future.
Thanks!
The monetization
/way to earn currency and the balance patches killed the game for me.
Something i've been thinking is ¿why not make all suits free from now on? the game it's gonna shutdown in the end so what's the point on grinding for capital points (i love how they waited for the end to give us more ways on earning the currency) anyways i guess gonna try to play a lot for the final months
Thanks for the videos man, just discovered your channel weeks ago thanks to this game and i've been watching all your videos to get some tips on how to play certain units 👍
No problem. Glad I was able to help!
riding this ship till the end my friend
