I apreciate you sharing your wisdom and experience. Thank you
Thank you
Your videos are excellent. Please keep them coming! - This is exactly the kind of video that the radio fraternity need in order to learn the correct troubleshooting procedures & techniques. Well done!
Chris Parnell Hi Chris, thanks for feed-back.
Wow! I didn't know you could tell so much about a radio that won't turn on and before you even crack it open! I just learned something major big!
For me,these have been your best 2 videos so far....Brilliant fault finding techniques I learnt a lot from you...thankyou
great! Thanks for your feed back!
In a case like this, there are two other techniques which are quicker and/or can (at least) greatly reduce the number of leads you need to disconnect.
1) Use the current-limited supply (as you did) and scan the board with an I/R camera. These are cheap now and are readily available at the local hardware store. The hot spot will tell you where all the current is passing through.
2) Go back to the old methods. Use a current wand like the HP 547A to "sniff" out where the current is congregating. The 547 will detect DC current. It has a Hall Effect sensor. Of course, for tracing AC currents, a common current loop can be attached to a scope.
Either of these techniques can get you zeroed-in on a single square inch of circuit board which is almost always sufficient to reveal the shorted component.
Do you have a video up of the HP 547A? I have not heard of that method?
Nice video again, I am learning a lot from your methods of troubleshooting...
Thank you, that exactly is my aim....
.....then the transistor shouted,"STOP PUSHING ME AROUND!". Another great video.
LOL yeah sounds like that. Thanks for watching Dan 73
Peter very enjoyable going through fault finding I was looking for part 2 peter :)
Thank you John
I got one my self, and two Albrecht 7500 :) (124 CB in collection + 61 ham) ham operator as well.
Enjoy this vids, tnx for make them.
wow nice collection
Thank you for sharing the knowledge, excellent videos.
Chrysiotis Thanks for your feed back!
process of elimination at work . great video.
That is it. Most of the time it is the finals that blow, usually due to the antenna not being tuned properly or the voltage supplying the finals is too high. That was a common problem on the Cobra 200GTLDX, which was a nice 10 meter radio other than they tend to blow the finals do to too much voltage. Once fixed they are good.
Yeah you are right it often turn out that the finals are dead... 73
Yes the Ultra Force more name than being! Actually a nice box but processing under everything cannon! The same with AE 487 circuit board covered with solder curtain short circuit preprogrammed sad to sell such devices I would have a stomachache!
Interresting ;-)
hi, what's probe you use for your multimeter ?
thanks for your work ;)
AMAZON HAS RADIOS CHECKED FOR DEAD SHORTS AS A LOT OF PEOPLE HOOK THEM UP BACKWARDS AND THE FINALS BLOW BECAUSE THEY RUN THE RADIO TO AN ANTENNA WITH A DEAD SHORT OR VERY HIGH MATCH( SWR )
+wildcat2488 Hi, yes that is true. Thanks for feed back! 73
NO PROBLEM LOVE YOUR VIDEOS GREAT JOB FELLO TECH HERE IN THE USA
The Protection Idiot(Diod) lol
Yeah the protection Idiot haha
next time buy it from Amazon and send it back for a new unit.
+Frank Furter LOL HI Frank, yes I see your point but then I don't have the lab fun :^)
Lol = Tranni!
