  • What can be done if you need a spare part but the radio is end of service. No spare parts available any longer. Okay lets home-brew what we need. We show a way to wind a new coil and fit it into circuit.

    Sir, my respect for you just reached new heights. Your customer must be over the moon to find someone who will do more than just say, "I can't get the parts so your radio is worthless. Throw it in the trash and buy a new one." You really went the extra mile. Fantastic work and very creative and intelligent. Thank you.
    Oh, and I wish you and all who you love a very happy new year.

    Well done to save a radio from going into the trash, it is a joy to watch a master at work specially when you cannot get spare parts but rewind a new coil and fit and set up the settings :) you made the owner very happy to get it working again good job Peter. :)

    Now that was an amazing repair--very nice guess work on the value of the little transformer. But then you designed it to cover a nice range. Another radio lives. Cheers & 73 from W Rusty Lane K9POW in eastern Tennessee

    Great fun - if you don't have a day job! I tend to spend too much time worrying about the Q, ferrite mix, temperature coefficient and the winding capacitance to even begin such a repair. Surely a magnet would quickly tell you if the coil carrier was magnetic? One of my pet hates is that amateur equipment manuals generally give you the values of every component EXCEPT the inductors!

    Thanks so much for your videos. I enjoy these so much. Please keep up the great effort. It is so nice to learn. You are taking the time to really help others pick up some tech tips. Please a tour of your equipment and more detail where you attach the equipment. Again very impressed.

    • @TRXLab

      To replace bulbs is not so critical the only you need the the ability to use a solder iron probably in order not to damage the PCB..

    • @TRXLab
      @TRXLab  8 лет назад

      +Brad Szuber Hi Brad, there is a lamp fuse on the rf board looks like a small bulb, that could be blown. Beside that it can be anything.. 73

    • @bradszuber193
      @bradszuber193 8 лет назад

      thank you for the quick reply! i will have to check that. its an old rig. it has great transmit but i just dont get receive. so you are saying that there is a separate fuse for the receive?

    • @TRXLab

      +Brad Szuber correct

    • @BeEasyTreeFarmer
      @BeEasyTreeFarmer 8 лет назад

      +TRXBench ok last question, do those lamp fuses light up if they are working properly? If so mind is not lit. It's very small and hard to see but it looks like it's burnt out and there is a trace amount of brown on the tip of the bulb.

    • @TRXLab
      @TRXLab  8 лет назад

      +Be Easy tree farmer No it never light up it is just the connection which is needed. You have to check it with an ohm meter. good luck..73
