I know you don't like to plow your fields, but wouldn't running a disk over that new field, and breaking that grass up a little bit make it a bit easier to plant
We had a hog farm with finishing floors over a lagoon and that was the worst smell I have ever experienced. 15 years of hog excrement and water that flushed out farrowing and weaning house and it turned purple and at some parts of the summer it looked like a chemistry experiment. It would bubble in some spots. Not sure if chicken litter is any worse.
Ive spent alot of time around litter and chicken houses. The moisture in it has a few factors like how long its been out of the house, whether its the crust or the deep clean out, if there was a water line leak in the house, etc. If litter gets piled up at a certain moisture and sits for a while it can ignite itself. Ive dug into piles that were ash on the inside and have seen litter sheds burn down.
Hey Matt how’s the combine repair coming along, plus will we see preventative maintenance on the cotton picker as well? Have a good rest of your week and God bless
Matt have you considered trying out a rubber tire loader to load the chicken litter in the spreader it would have to save time loading. Maybe try to get a demo.
if you cant buy one you should consider leasing or renting a wheel loader with a 3 yard bucket. we did and noticed it to be a hell of a time saver even if you just get it for the week and get your bigger fields done. hell you could probably get a demo if you ask nicely and say you will do a review on your youtube. (make sure they think your in the market for one even if your not haha)
Or just get a 8R with a loader . Got a tractor for other things and can load cotton bales in the fall. Use it year round . And can load just as fast as a payloader
Hen grower here from Alabama. It dont stink It smells like money

A disc would never cut all that sod up. Would need a breaking plow

Around here we’ve always got either the week before or the week after Easter out of school for spring break. Most schools are like that.

Might try to look into a big front end loader to speed up loading and to use for your cotton bale moving
Why does it take two people to do that job. Can't one person walk from one tractor to the other?
Job could be done by one person but it would take quite a bit longer

Might be a good idea to look for a snow bucket for your loader to load the shit. Little bigger dimensions on them that will help u load faster
I bought a bigger bucket than what the standard one is

That would require a lot of money to just save a little time

Might have to look at renting one if there’s a place around
Heck yeah then sell the front end loader off the tractor.

Why not just gone break the land up and still put your fertilizer down on this farm
