Guys, I think we all need to chill. Bro's just stating his own opinions on the Love Live franchise, and it's perfectly fine to disagree as he said in 2:45
I don't think he's a Aquors hater as he literally gave Sunshine a 4/10 (which isn't a horrible score, just below average). I see soke comments saying that he didn't compliment Sunshine at all which isn't true. He complimented You and Dia, and also said that the series is better once he ignores its association with School Idol Project. He respected Sunshine and was glad that it existed, just didn't understand the appeal as said in 1:05:21
He also isn't bias towards Muse since he enjoyed Superstar at first and thought that some aspects of it was better than SIP. I personally feel that he’s judging the shows by their content and not by their idol group. After all, H has confirmed that he only started watching SIP in 2021, years after Muse disbanded. Additionally, also mentioned that he actually watched Sunshine first before watched SIP 1:02:29
I'm honestly shocked I've yet to see a comment defending Yohane the Parhelion since he was clearly more negative towards that than Sunshine
I disagree with some of his points on the shows, but I still respect his opinion
Also ur voice is a sexy/10

Its so interesting to say that Chika's breakdown made you feel nothing, as for me its exactly what grounds her as a realistic person for me
As someone who hides their worries and pains in order to appear always happy to others, seeing her finally break and admit that she conceals her feelings really adds the depth to relate to her.
Generally I feel like the issues you have with sunshine boil down to liking SIP too much?? Chika is not a facsimile of Honoka beyond having orange hair and being a leader - her personality, though upbeat, is driven by something completely different to Honoka. Happy isn't a singular trait, there are mant different forms of genki upbeat characters and they differ greatly in this aspect imo
I know I have a Chika picture but I'm not saying Sunshine is better or worse than SIP, but I feel that your view of sunshine as a supposed "upgrade" is the real problem. Is different, not an upgrade or competitor, pitting them against each other is exactly what causes distaste for one
Similarly Mari is not an upgrade or Downgrade of Nozomi, to be impartial you need to detatch your connections between the characters and feeling like one is intended to compete with another, they coexist

As a Mari enjoyer, I think her immaturity is part of the reason I like her. If you think about it, Mari's only friends as a child were Dia and Kanan. So of course when Mari was the reason their idol group, and then had to leave for two years, she of course would have reflected and felt terrible about the whole thing. It's like she's stuck in the past as a first year, trying to make things as they were, like an antithesis of Nozomi.
On Mari in Parhelion, this is sort of a headcanon but I personally believe it shows how she felt without Kanan and Dia during those years of seperation. She is shown to be clearly isolated on her Island, which could be a neat metaphor on how she feels as if she can't go back and reconnect with her old friends, and how because of her family she can no longer develop any new relationships (since her family never really wanted her to have friends). Though that could be me trying to salvage anything from that anime.
But for me I enjoy love live more for the character development in their respective episodes than the relationships between each other. Yoshiko's episode is one of my favorite in the series, since it's a nice story and theme that is relatable, and a little more simple than the overarching theme of the anime (I'm not that smart). Sunshine has more episodes like the Rin one, which is why I like Aqours (though School Idol Project had a better plot for sure). Too bad they barely did any meaningful development in Nijigasaki (except Shioriko OVA), Parhelion, or in Liella s2. But great video good job!!!

This whole "analysis" is so opinionated, it's difficult to even argue. I know you're trying to find deeper meaning in things, but you've drawn so many conclusions about things that aren't as deep as you think. Plenty of decisions about the characters, even in Muse, were made just to make the girls marketable, not because they have deeply complex personalities.
Nozomi is actually a good example of this because the whole "washi washi" thing has nothing to do with her backstory or her being socially awkward. Because this whole franchise started as a project for Dengeki Gs magazine, a magazine made for men, there were all sorts of awkward, uncomfortable scenarios sexualizing the girls and getting them to touch each other. It's ecchi, and ecchi sells. Not everything has a deeper meaning or even the base level of continuity. The manga and the anime have very different versions of the characters, because there were different writers who had different ideas for what would sell. Not to mention the LL anime writers frequently plagiarized from other shows. Heck, they lack creativity so much that when they made Aqours, they basically plagiarized Muse. 😂 (Edit: turns out it's the same writer for both, not surprising) Aqours wasn't meant to be "better" than Muse in any way; it's supposed to be as similar as possible with just enough differences to make it difficult to predict the entire plot, so the audience still stays interested enough to keep watching. It's supposed to be a balance of nostalgia and novelty. The writers also knew that not everyone who watched Sunshine had watched the original, so they opted to basically use the same formula because it worked the first time. In other words, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."
In any case, if you weren't so caught up in which characters you did or didn't like and stopped trying to find meaning in the plot where there isn't any, you might have at least noticed that the writers were playing you. I know this is a mean way to put it, but the truth is that the LL anime was never really that good, so whenever I finally find some LL fan vids like this claiming to "analyze" something, it's basically people just giving opinionated takes that are totally missing the point, and it makes me frustrated.

@@ThatPerson-g2f this double standard against aqours that has gone on for nearly a decade is so normalised that most of the fandom are so used to it that it became a subconscious behaviour... like subconsciously trying to brush it off while coming to the defence of this double standard
someone be like "she's not bias towards muse because she praised superstar"... yeah, let's call her "bias against aqours" then, since she just applying this double standard on aqours and only aqours
notice that only aqours is held at a much higher standard and expectations than all other groups? 1 little mistake (like 1 note off) and people going to crucify them while for the other groups, their giant glaring simple mistake like standing a whole foot wrong position gets ignored
and when they achieve something, it gets downplayed... like how aqours's live action MV reached 1 million views within 4 days of release while liella's live action MVs all struggling to reach 1 million even after years and somehow liella gets praised for their live action... aqours stood on tokyo dome twice and filled tonnes of domes and done it much earlier than all the other groups, yet when it is still "muse/liella are the greatest/most popular"... aqours had gone on and led the franchise far longer than muse did (the reason they could go that long is because 9 aqours are far more dedicated by being disciplined at keeping themselves continuously healthy and FIT for a whole decade... they do this so stringently that they are actually healthier and fitter than their younger juniors) when liella had failed to fill even half of belluna dome (aqours filled it 4 times)... the juniors trembled in fear when they had to go after guil-kiss (FOUR times tokyo dome performers if you count bamco fes 1 and ijigen fes), yet some people still think that kalei/catchu are in anyway comparable... like please, aikyan alone is enough to take them on

@@ThatPerson-g2f i don't think there's even a need for aikyan to deal with just 3 liella nowadays after watching 3 YYY perform better with a heavier setlist than 11 liella during last weekend's asia tour, kyan can take on 4 liella at least by herself and shuka and furi can share the other 7
shuka has grown so much as a performer that she could confidently seal her specialty (dance) and just bewitch the audience with just vocals on a cart
and then there's people that can say that nako (shuka's kouhai) is a match for shuka in dance lol

Hello, Idk if you will read this but... If you do, although we have very different opinions about Sunshine and Aqours, i overall agreed with a lot of the video. To give my own perspective, I joined the series in 2020, although I loved the chill and hopeful energy muse gave, it is aqours that kept me in it. Their story of fighting the impossible was what i really needed in the lord's year of 2020.
A lot of stuff happened, I learnt that LL was more than anime, learnt how many people were positively affected by LL. With a solid enough story and good effort by everyone to make the series a success, it felt like a great series to be in. That lasted a whole 1 month from the time I was introduced to LL until i ran into the controversy that i think killed the franchise, and i saw the ugly parts of LL (Lanzhu in SIFAS).
There I saw a trend that would be the negative feedback to plummet the quality of the series. As a fan of drama and intriguing story telling, sifas Lanzhu was basically an insult. It was one of the rare times i saw quite a few fans genuinely upset about the quality of the story.
However, as time passes, fans start gaslighting others in saying the story was a masterpiece of writing, making up wild speculations about the characters to fill in obvious holes. From all my training in analysis, the golden rule is to make sure what you are using in the analysis can be substantiated by the source material. There wasnt any happening.
In the end, fans just bought more, LL sees that its making them money, and realises they can get away with even less effort. Repeat for every controversy they get, and you get LL today, getting away with extorting Aqours fans with a finale live that is guarenteed to make anyone spend 10x they usually would, making songs that feel uninspired and boring, making animation thats now outdated etcetcetc.
It also does not help that, in the IRL side, LL loves to autotune over their idols in the bluray to make sure what is being broadcasted to the rest of the world is the perfect version instead of the authentic voices (for the record I prefer no autotune, but also with thta comes with the realisation that some seiyuus dont... Really improve their singing).
In a way its suffering from its own arrogance, and the fans fuel that arrogance. The amount of gaslighting that the fanbase has devolved into makes it impossible to say criticism about the series in a academic way, resorting to loud screams on both sides. It also blinds everyone from the other side where there are series that cares for fans, will give them amazing stories and animation, will not squeeze all your money out of your pockets uf you wanna go to a live.
This is why i left LL. I hated that i left LL like this, Aqours getting shafted on their finale live was the last straw. I wish others see the same.

Personally in my opinion, the second season of Superstar, didn’t underutilized Kanon, but did the exact opposite, by putting her into role of the problem solver of almost every ongoing issue the other characters were dealing with. Even when it makes no sense narratively.
It took away the agency and importance of other characters, like with Kinako who could’ve been the one to properly bond with Natsumi and recruit her into the group. The story would have gone full circle with it, since it was Natsumi who initially gave Kinako some good advice before the latter joined Liella. Just to name one example.
Fortunately, season three improved on these things. But it would have been great if season two had better writing as well.

Lovely Video! I was a big school idol fan in the Muse and Aquors era and I think the state of the games can help explain the drop in quality between the first franchise and the following ones. For one the games usually come first and have a few months to gain traction before bushiroad releases an anime to more succinctly summarize the main story that is available in the game. Muse definitely excelled and at the time had a very large share of the idol/rhythm game market in japan. However, the release of competitors like Bang Dream came and I think began to take more and more of a presence in the rhythm game market.
There, bushiroad was then motivated to create a new lineup of characters to reinvigorate the community. Usually the introduction of new characters is an indicator when a rhythm game begins to drop in revenue or market share. Then they played it safe with aquors and introduced characters similar to muse and also troupe characters in the genre like Yoshiko and Mari. Generally rhythm games 'charm point' is typically the individual relationships between the characters. Ensemble Stars and Project Sekai are a good example of that. I think BushiRoad tried to do the same thing by strengthening the emphasis of character to character relationships in the anime through the focus of the 2nd and 3rd years relationship to each other. But I think them as individuals and the 1st years presence were muddled due to that and the overall story regarding the school idol festival suffered due to that emphasis.
With nijigasaki, I'm pretty sure some of the characters were actually expanded versions of some of the side characters/NPC's present in the game in the Muse era. Perhaps there was a demand for more of these characters and that's why the franchise exists, and they maybe didn't intend to have a driven story like Aquors and Muse's story of participating in the school idol festival. This was around the time I stopped playing so I'm not very sure about the content of the material. Similarly, I wasn't particularly interested in Leilla and when I saw that there were like 12 characters I didn't want to invest time into learning about that many people.
In any case, that would be my speculation on the drop in quality. Muse's strengths as a media during that time was centering the story around being in a school and having a driven plot of saving their school through idol work. The characters did have relationships with one another but I believe the focus was more on Muse's growth as a group and whatever individual arcs the characters had. The decline in quality -- I think -- is the introduction of competitors who also excelled and a shift of attention to be focused more on character relationships. Love live then created new lineups to grapple with competition and focuses similarly on relationships but they couldn't juggle that well with the main plot and individual arcs.
Sorry for the long comment! I was very excited to hear thoughts on love live in a dedicated video like this, have a lovely day.

Great video, while i disgree with some points in the video im genuinely glad this exists cause youve pointed out a lot things in the franchise that ive been frustrated about but i felt nobody else was saying in the youtube sphere anyway. While i genuinely really love Sunshine and well as Superstar and (forgive my blasphemy) i think both have some qualities that are superior than the orginal ofc animation, music, individual character certain plot lines ect. and Superstar specifically getting rid of weird tropes and themes in sip that made me super uncomfortable even as a kids like Nozomi and Maris stupid washi-washi trope and the whole loosing weight episode. I think this franchises main problem since Sunshine its to afraid to do any thing diffrent and when they do they back pedal so much, Nijigaku has a really strong ensemble with strongs characters backstory and dynamics with each other but so much potential is lost because of time they need to fill worh classic love live story beats. The newest group while ive wanted to get into for a while, i blinked at all of a sudden they had 9 girls when their number was what made them interesting in the first place because we aslo lost that with Liella. And dont get me started on the games that are the biggest examples of the company behind Love Live being too afraid to take risks getting rid of one the foundations of the franchise to save money. Its just all disappointing to see a franchise i love so dearly that has so so much potential not have the balls to just do something different and just stick to it cause with Aqours stepping back next year i dont know how this franchise is going to find its footing again

nah, not going to waste my 2 hours on a video made by someone who is still stuck in 2015
long story short, i am a big aqours-tard (as some of the fans of the other groups like to call the no.10s) but back then i was an aqours doubter... because i had judged them based on the (unimpressive) performance of muse... that is my biggest regret regarding being a fan of the franchise... to judge prematurely
even after that i still judged and doubted agupon too quickly and if i would be able to meet her, i would happily dogeza and apologise
i am learning and trying my best to be better (i will be lying if i said i am not worried about how the juniors will carry the franchise going forward with the crappy management), unlike many in the fandom (never learning, double standards, rose-tinted glasses on muse era (let me just insert reminder that every record that muse had set, they've been broken, the juniors had achieved more popularity and higher quality contents than muse had ever managed))... i still doubt too quickly sometimes, but i'm trying my best to have more FAITH... if i can start changing in just 4 years, i think someone who has been in love and followed the franchise for far longer than i had should've been able to

If you wish to improve stuff for the future, I highly suggest getting your hands on some noise removal plugins such as Izotope RX, a good equalizer, and a de-esser. Noise removal will do wonders in improving the clarity of your speech, and the de-esser will reduce harsh frequencies that are made by saying s or sh sounds. Finally, the equalizer is there to generally round out your voice and make it sound more pleasant! Good luck on your audio journey!!!

I think you're the first person who truly gets my love for the Love Live! School Idol Project. To me these girls felt more like ordinary everyday girls that could shine on the stage regardless of that. Sunshine didn't feel like this to me anymore, even though Chika through and through was said to be an "ordinary monster". She was selfless, energetic, always showing her perfect side, not letting her troubles show. She was almost too perfect to be true. I still like Chika though, her love for muse was very relatable and making me feel less alone after the loss and disbandment of muse. And the lesson that we learn from this anime that we should just be ourselves and shine in our own way is really good.
There are fundamental differences betwen SIP and Sunshine. I recently saw someone say it, actually I think it was confirmed by staff (i'm not sure) that SIP anime was supposed to cheer you on and Sunshine was supposed to make you want to cheer Aqours on, and I honestly can feel that. SIP was an anime about friendship, insecure teenage girls finding happiness in spending time together with friends and reaching a common goal together. It becomes really obvious with Nozomi's story. I felt just like her, lonely, but muse made me feel less lonely. Their story showed me that there is hope in this world even for nobody like me. It's a really inspiring story.
Sunshine showed that real life isn't perfect. You may work hard and still lose, but in the end the journey itself was beautiful too. It is less inspiring for me but I think it is something important to remember too. You want those girls to save the school so bad, but they weren't able to. They even won the Love Live, but they couldn't do the most important thing to them.
Also about Yohane's episode - I think I fundamentally don't understand her character. I thought her chuunibyou thing was supposed to represent her as a weirdo and someone that doesn't fit in. The girls then accepted her into the group, but then proceed to not accept her the way she is, tell her to stop with her antics, not call her by her preferred name. The YohaRiko episode was the only time I felt like she was finally accepted as a person that she is(btw I was pretty sure Riko kept the dog longer than 1 days but tbh I don't remember). But well that all went out the window in the very next episode. I don't know if this is throwing out character growth and bad writing or like I said before misunderstanding Yohane completely as a character.
Anyways I think SIP and Sunshine were the best animes because they had greater messages they wanted to tell. Like I don't think it deserved all the bashing that you gave it, and I don't think looking at Aqours characters as copies of muse is the correct way to go about it. With other anime series... I don't really see the greater message in the story. But I didn't finish watching your video so maybe I will add more later.

  • @alpha-sama

I don't know, you make a decent point occasionally but most of this video is just 'I watched something I loved so when I heard there was more I got my hopes up but I ended up disappointed because the new stuff does not come with the same feelings of nostalgia the old stuff had, therefore it is irredeemably bad to me'. But here's some of my takes.
I do 100% agree that Sunshine season 1 copies School Idol Project (SIP for short) WAY too much, making it the weakest LL season for me. However, the characters really grow into their own people in season 2 and they do deliver. Sunshine season 2 is better than either SIP season imo.
Nijigasaki is of course a bit of a dark horse in the fandom but I don't think you give them enough credit for having by far the best individual episodes and singers in the franchise. (On that note, it has to be said that singing-wise, Muse is easily the worst LL group. 'I like that they sound like amateurs because they're supposed to' is really not a good excuse.)
For Superstar, yes, pretty much everyone agrees that season 1 is way better than season 2. But unlike some donkeys, I don't blame the introduction of new members, this was a simple writing problem. It's not some big structural issue that makes the whole series unwatchable, this season mostly just suffered from bad time management (and a huge Kanon bias for which I admittedly have no excuse). I have full faith that they've learned from these flaws and that season 3 will be much better. On a sidenote, it doesn't sound like you even watched this season properly. You don't have to remember every detail, but to say you can't remember anything Kanon, Chisato and Ren did is WILD.
I'm not surprised that you don't like Genjitsu no Yohane. Remember that people complained the Mario Movie can only be liked by Mario fans? Well duh, who do you think the target audience is? Same thing goes here. Given your very big and very obvious bias against Sunshine, you were never going to enjoy a spin-off that was targeted at Sunshine fans.

KekeSumire episode really ruined Kanon character when Sumire victimized herself. Its very selfish and hypocrite of Kanon .When she cant sing, Keke didnt even complaining and keep supporting her.I already hate Keke and Sumire argue gags along the series. Aqours? 80% of the story is about ChikaRiko and YoshikoRiko mostly Riko. Love live should be the story about everyone. hi, your video randomly pop up and i read the some of the comments, i feel like when it come to Muse you got it right because of bias , i would recommend watching WatTheWut's videos when it come to Aqours
I was also the victim of bias in the past and would automatically prefer Muse and keep comparing Muse to everything else because of the fanbase. But after years i feel like every gen have their own message , Aqours just happened to be bait new fans and releasing new message in my opinion.
Yes, Aqours are so similar to Muse, and that's exactly what fans would do : "copying their idol", but by the end of season 1 Aqours learn the real lesson they want to show us which is "don't copy another person , just be whoever you are", and i feel Aqours message really deep.
Nijigasaki isn't that bad, they're just not "official 3rd gen" and the game got cancelled to fast so they don't give the anime the real plot, they're just highschool students trying to be better and connected by the same passion when it come to music and idols
Liella.... despite being real "official 3rd gen" but they have quite weak writing, maybe cuz running 2 anime and 2 games at the same time and planning on vtuber and musicial entry, it's not that bad because it might be bland but still have right messages imo
i know you dislike Mari but about 51:35 , she's actually being neglected by her parents. Born rich but she always alone, in a flashback we can see when she was young there're guardians to keep her on her parent's mansion and they don't want Mari to hangout with poor girls. The thing is not only in Japan but in other countries this is not that uncommon , not to mention in the movie Mari's mom just stalk her and forces her to married a guy Mari doesn't even like and has to throw away her dream and her only friends.
Also this might be problematic in other countries but i live in Japan and highschool girls actually touch and talk about their b00bs, not all of them but it's not that weird , same as Onsen where strangers from ages take a hot bath together naked is perfectly normal in Japan but illegal in many countries
not having confident in our own voice is quite common so don't worry, you should keep making videos, being more brave . Jaiden animation also used to be like us but now she's overcoming her fear even after 10 years of making videos on youtube, so keep working hard !

Thank you for the feedback and support. It’s nice to hear how people in Japan feel about the Love Live franchise, really helps me get a better view of other people's perspectives. Though, I did want to mention that I did watch WatTheWut's Chika analysis while doing research for making this video 1:05:26

I find it funny that you claim to live in Japan and also try to spread misinformation about Niji and Liella. Everyone I talk to recognizes Niji as 三代目 and Liella as 四代目, Hasu is 五代目. This is not up for debate and staff has never said otherwise. Please stop speading lies.

I don't want to be harsh but you're just stuck in the past, µ's was a brand new thing for you back in the days and you don't feel the same for others groups.
I mean it's fine but some of your claims are just weird, at the same time you say that love live lacks changes and dislike nijigasaki for "no being like µ's and aqours", i mean the story of nijigasaki was bold af especially in the mobile game where you had a nasty Lanzhu not just a rival, and guess what the storyline of the anime did not follow the game story cause the fans were'nt happy with it.
Taking risk while appealing to the fanbase isn't easy. That's why i'm glad they tried yohane the parhelion, it was not great but definitely something fresh.
I'm a bit amazed that you make a 2h video without talking about hasunosora (or maybe i missed it), it's the future of the franchise, but if you don't follow the game you have only live et music to follow at the moment.
I'm pretty sure it will be impopular but i like the change from og love live to superstar, no more groping joke, less echi subtext, better char (i found 1/3 of love live og char annoying).
Anyways i totally agree that no mobile game avaible in english is cuting fan aways from love live and is not a great signal for the future.
At least we still have some concert for all majors group.

***need to split my post into 2 because it's too long sorry xdddd***
To be honest, I was quite surprised to see in a comment here that you watched the LL series in 2021, as this video reads as classic 2016 μ's fanboy-ism.
Firstly, I take no issue with the fact that you love SIP. I do too, and it's what introduced me to the series. I'm not deluded into thinking that it's a perfect series, however. Or that it even approaches an 8/10, let alone a 9. The reality is that μ's never realistically goes up against any real challenges in their rise to stardom, except for the ones they inflict upon themselves (Honoka overworking, Kotori studying abroad, the groups uncertainty post-graduation). Immediately after episode 3, they are set onto a constant upward trend in which they never experience any realistic competition. A-RISE is shown so rarely and given so little development that they're far more forgettable than any other LL rival group. μ's beating A-RISE feels more like an inevitability than a question. Many of the characters are also woefully uninteresting. I'd say this is primarily an issue with the third years.
As for your analysis of Sunshine, wow lmao. One common trend I see amongst μ's fanboys is a complete inability to understand the POINT of Aqours and their underlying context. To be fair, coming into the series late, I can understand why you may not understand some of the context surrounding Aqours.
μ's disbanded almost immediately before Sunshine was announced. Many people were bitter about this disbandment, thinking it was "too early". The actual decision to disband came down to some of the members no longer being able to properly perform, but some lunatics to this day still believe that LLstaff "forced" μ's to disband. As a result of this, Aqours recieved a lot of undue hate from the eve of their announcement. They were seen as a group that had a MASSIVE set of shoes to fill, and the stability of the franchise was never more in question.
The parallels from SIP to Sunshine are done on purpose, but you attribute a far more pessimistic reasoning for it (It was all for the money). The parallels to the original was not to COPY μ's, but to show how Sunshine would offer a new and fresh take on the genre. Aqours is NOT from the big city like μ's is. Aqours does NOT see immediate success like μ's does. Aqours doesn't have the resources, the fanbase, or the means to accomplish what μ's does. As a result, the conclusions of these series are vastly different. Aqours is not a story of the 9 girls saving their schools and becoming idol legends, it's a far more modest and down to earth story about 9 girls growing up in the middle of nowhere who accomplish things well beyond their means. It's a story of the girls finding themselves, and the unique spark they have, despite growing up in a town that is forgotten by society and brushed aside for larger cities and groups (Tokyo & μ's).
Claiming these characters are "copies" is such an embarassing way of self-reporting that you didn't pay attention to the series. Maru has little in common with Rin, apart from some insecurity. Ruby has little in common with Hanayo, apart from the fact that they're both shy and like idols. Chika is COMPLETELY different than Honoka. They're both airheads and are leaders, but that's essentially where the comparisons end. Chika is incredibly self-motivated, and starts Aqours out of a desire to find what's special about her. It is by pure coincidence that that goal ends up lining up with the ability to save her school (a goal that isn't sought for any selfish reasons, but instead to protect a pillar of her small and shrinking community). Honoka on the other hand, primarily excels at bringing people together. She's the spark for most things, but she needs other people to pull her along. Honoka wouldn't be half the leader she is without Umi, Kotori, Eli, and Nico helping her along. Honoka's goals are also fairly selfish, as she wants to save Otonokizaka in order to protect her fun highschool lifestyle. Later, some importance is added to this when she sees her Mother's photobooks, but Honoka mostly cares about protecting the place where she and her friends have fun. Honoka is my favorite μ's girl, and even I can admit that Sunshine adds incredible depth to the "leader" role in Chika. Sure, Honoka is the blueprint, but Chika perfects this in a way that I don't think has been done better in any LL media to date.
As a Yoshiko oshi, I should also comment that your annoyance with "mischievous"-type characters completely blinds you to their character developments. Comparing Nico to Yoshiko is like comparing Naruto to Luffy. Do they both hold the same role in their respective series? Sure, but the basis and conclusions of those characters are drastically different. Yoshiko's character arc is based in an identity crisis where she feels she needs to "perform" as a fallen angel in order for people to like her, despite that slowly pushing people away. Even when she tries to be normal, she feels so comfortable embracing her "demon" side that she's hesitant to abandon that. The reason she maintains those chuuni aspects is because Chika and the gang show that she's accepted the way she is, and that she doesn't need to become "normal" for anyone. I truly don't see any part of that that applies to Nico whatsoever.
    Ok quick Sunshine speedrun;
    - I see no ways in which Mari resembles Nozomi aside from a couple washi-washi scenes.
    - It's funny how the characters you "don't care about" also happen to be some of the characters you admit to be good, and even improvements on their μ's
    counterparts
    - Saint Snow is drastically better than A-RISE and the reason Leah is a "dick" to Aqours lies in her extreme protectionism of her older sister
    - "Yoshiko is the reason Aqours is almost late for their school festival" BRO IT WAS A GAME OF CHANCE, SHE PULLED A BALL OUT OF A HAT, HOW IS THAT HER FAULT LMAOOO
    - It's kinda funny you say you liked Girls Band Cry, you'd never guess what the director of GBC also directed...

      ***pt 2***
I won't really comment on your Niji criticisms. I also think it's kinda mid. It is funny you think they are a "forgettable" group though, considering they are currently the most popular LL group. Clearly there are people who appreciate it.
Okay, Superstar. I genuinely think Superstar Season 1 is far in a way better than SIP S1 & S2. If you personally prefer SIP, that's cool.
Ultimately, however, I think your bias for SIP greatly shapes how much you overlook S2 of Superstar. The fact that you think the main 5 are "sidetracked" is funny, considering the character development they get in S2 leaves little remaining time for an actual main story arc OR needed development for Mei and Kinako. The Ren analysis was especially strange. Ren was always a bit of a dummy thrust into a bigger role then she was ready for. In S1 she makes a bunch of foolish mistakes, like pushing the general education students out of the school festival, or the scenes where she struggled to ask Chisato about her withdrawal form. Ren has always been a big dummy with too much on her plate. The video game episode was a way to show how the girls had thrust so much work onto Ren, and how the prospect of a release (video games) could easily entrap her. That leads to Kinako being a school secretary, Chisato being club leader, and Mei being Ren's confidant and closer friend.
On top of the Ren episode, Chisato takes more responsibility and develops on her character arc from S1. Sumire becomes a more honest and open person. Keke accepts the respect and appreciation she has for Sumire. Kanon struggles with her overall goals and aspirations post-Liella. I'd argue the main cast get MORE development than the new girls. You seem to have been asleep during the Natsumi episode, missing WHY she's "money hungry". The basis of her character is that she was so incredibly mediocre at things that she decided the only way she'd be able to succeed in life was by working harder than everyone else, getting as much money as possible. The scenes in which she's not practicing with Liella is because she's NOT APART OF THE GROUP YET lmao.
I also think comparing Arisa not wanting to join μ's to the 1st years wanting to join Liella is a complete false equivalency. Liella had accomplished next to nothing, and was only a 1st year school idol group. Muse came and won LL in their very first year then disbanded. They saved Otonokizaka. Of course Arisa wouldnt want to stain the legacy of that group.
I also won't comment on your SITM criticisms. Mostly because I've only seen the series once. I think it's fairly average, but still better than most seasonal anime. I also think your misunderstandings about Sunshine would lead to some pretty strange conclusions about SITM, but I'll leave that to people who are more comfortable commenting on that show.
In closing, I appreciate your opinions and the fact that you had the courage to state them in such a long video. Having said that, this "LL is getting worse" doomer-ism is exactly why it's so insufferable to interact with the English Love Live community. There are ways to criticize LL series' without pretending like SIP is this masterpiece that will never be surpassed. Sometimes, you just don't like things. I'm sure your love for μ's is a big part of why you don't care for Sunshine. I'm sure my love for Aqours may be why I no longer love μ's as much as I once did. I'd never use that as an opportunity to hate on SIP though, since I see it as a very important and enjoyable part of the series. In the same way, even if I think Niji is the weakest show in the series, I appreciate how it takes risks and introduces new things to the series. I'd never suggest that the existence of this series is evidence LL is failing. Personally, I'd encourage you to change the title of this video. I think it's far too clickbait-y and betrays your actual thoughts on the series, since you yourself seemingly loved Superstar S1.
Sorry for the lengthy post, I'd encourage any critiques.

Wow, this is genuinely a really well-thought out analysis on all the Love Live shows. I like how you tried defending all of them (except of Yohane the Parhelion) instead of just Sunshine like most of the other comments. You also looked through the different comments which also shows your dedication to getting information before commenting. You clearly have a lot of passion towards the Love Live franchise which is something respectable. Although I disagree with some of your points, like what I said at the start of the video, it's just my silly opinion and its perfectly fine to like the other Love Live shows even though I don't. Thank you for sharing and have a great day

the part about the fanboys still blaming aqours for muse's final live really shows what sort of fake selfish fans they are
the muse seiyuu personally said multiple times in public that it was them who decided together that they are contented and would like to stop to pursue other things
yet these supposed "loyal fans" ignored everything they said and going against the seiyuu's wishes
that's the reality of when a fandom hate others more than they love their oshi

Don't Give up on Love Live pal
what started me on LL. Starting everything from i getting 4 Duplicates of Sangonomiya Kokomi(As you know who she is in Love Live) from Genshin(Don't asks how i got that lucky)
Wondered about Mims(Short of Mimorin). I traverse through Love live to see what's good in it. It's a Chef Kiss... Proceeding to get so many School Idols as possible in other Gacha games say one example "Momoi Saiba from Blue Archive" and "Fujinomiya Chitose from Yakuza 8" to keep know that there's Love Live everywhere.
About Discography i like LL songs. All Of them even one called "Nico-Puri" Which everyone thinks cringe.
Even though it doesn't count as LL Discography, If any Involved a School Idol VA feels like LL songs. Like this year on February, Sora Tokui sings Nitori song from Touhou Lost Word(Nito-nito Rii~)
Sure for ya LL Quality is Worsening but ya can't deny the love they put in the title which brings ya live. If you feel like Love live is lacking, Explore outside Love Live. I heard few of Uma Musume is also a School Idol.

i think this is an example of how most fans of the LL franchise are only really attached to one particular series, and thats typically the first one they encounter. it isnt that the quality is getting worse per se, but its just that the rest of the franchise will never give the same sentimentality to the fan as their first series.
I come from the "forgotten" series nijigaku, but I think your view of forgotten has been horribly misguided. it's not really forgotten but it's just you weren't in the circle where niji news are discussed. in fact you have forgotten, or haven't heard of another series, link live. it's not like we've forgotten about it either, it's just that alot of its content is exclusive to a japanese app and so you don't really hear overseas fans talk about it much other than it's music

i'm an aqours-tard, but it pains me that when after people are tired of their favourite hobby of double standard and unfairly criticising aqours, they'll start their 2nd favourite hobby of going at niji (both of these hobbies involved viewing muse through a rose tinted nostalgia glasses and being blindly lenient towards liella)
in fact, the franchise owes the most towards aqours and niji who were the 2 who held on the baton when the going was really tough and these 2 also the 2 groups that have earned the franchise the most amount of $$$ and popularity (aqours hooking in outsiders while niji targeting sei-ota (seiyuu fans) through the the seiyuu (miyutan, akarin, moeppi, tomoriru, coco))

as someone who also got into love live around 2015, i've had my fair share of heavily opinionated takes that didn't take that the narrative was actually getting at into perspective, but over the years i've realized were missing the point of things.
it's so weird to see a video like this that send me back to the past: jumping around between points without a more set structure, miscellaneous complaints being treated as objective reasons a series is bad, breezing over big details, it's uncanny...
i have my share of complaints of aspects of Love Live as a fellow long-time fan, but i like most of its installments, and can't really understand these sort of 'Muse is the only one that matters' takes here and there throughout the fandom.
the scattered and opinionated explanations throughout this video have made it tough to substantially say anything in return, since it's tough to get a sense that this is much besides random complaints without the structure to be expected of a video with such a big thesis.
