    How refreshing! So many Scooter and Motorcycle reviews are a guy or guys just talking about the model at hand with excessively long segments of Go Pro captured riding. The viewer learns little. Good video production matters! As well as writing! This video is well produced with clean tasteful set-up locations, excellent audio and substantive graphic elements supporting the narrative. With actual lighting! Oh and did I mention the writing? On topic, focused and thoughtful prose give the viewer tons more information than the vast majority of ad-libbed “reviews”.
    Thanks Moshe K Levy. For the smartest information video I’ve seen lately. The BMW C evolution is way more than just a “scooter”! And you successfully explained it!
    Cheers from Virginia!

    Very good review, thank you. One of the best on this C Evo Plus. You obviously brushed up on your knowledge before making the video. A lot of people don’t have a clue and seem to like sharing their ignorance about the bike.

    This is the electric vehicle I would love to own; too bad it isn't coming to Canada. Thanks for the great review. I'm subscribed now.

    The battery in the UK is guaranteed for 5 years to perform at 70% through that period. After that what happens. Junk the bike? I can’t find out from BMW what can be done to replace the battery. You have to factor that into the costs. A petrol bike will still perform with similar range and power to when you bought it.

      Also sadly the actual depreciation in say three years or even worse five years would be huge and make selling it harder especially if you kept it for the full five years, this is a big point never dealt with in these kinds of reviews.

      @@kevindarkstar Yes. My NC750X has done just under 20K miles since May 2018, has a range of around 200-250 miles and I can fill it up again. Average 83mpg (UK), total fuel cost under £1400. Purchase cost £7500. Depreciation around 4K. But it’s worth more than that to me and rides great. Total costs for purchase, servicing and accessories bought are under 10K. C-evolution price today is £14.3 k - I don’t know what it was in 2018. Still plenty of miles to do on the Honda before I spend the c-eco purchase price! If I push the NC750X hard it will still achieve 180 miles on a tank. It’s DCT so I don’t have to change gear myself and it has a trunk in the tank area for helmet, gloves etc. Don’t get me wrong I loved riding the C-eco apart from range anxiety but the NC is far superior.

    I noticed that you mentioned you got as high as 11khw. What was your range at that rate. IIRC, the battery is 12.5kW, but I can't find a published usable kW. Thx. Great review.

      GODISMYJUDGE it was a few years ago and I don’t have my notes with me, but I do remember that if you baby it around town and the weather is mild, you can exceed the advertised max range.

    Excellent Video !! I have my name in for the first one to show at my Florida dealer .I saw on another video that there is a power point in the right glovebox around to the left front corner and very hard to see or notice as the frame for the door hides it .

      Thanks for the kind words. Wow - could it be that I just didn't find the power port? I asked the BMW rep and he said there wasn't one, but that doesn't mean there isn't one! If you ever find out the truth, let us know!

    In my 2014 C Evo there is a 12V outlet in the compartment on the front right where you put your glasses in this video. But it may be overseen quickly.

    I rather be heard so that others can be more aware of a biker near by. Also I love the souls of the exhaust. Bad thing about electric bikes is that they do not gradually slow down, and that can be dangerous. And they are too heavy regardless of breaking power, you can’t change physics. The miles on a full charge is very poor.

    Thank you so much. Most of the videos on this scooter are horrible and this is by far the most informative video I have seen..and it's in English. I am still trying to justify this, but with it's limited range and high cost it's hard. I live in Cali so there are some at local dealers, I may go try to take a spin on one. Just a quick question, if you are riding purely freeway (say 65mph+ is the range significantly reduced?

    • @MotoMouthMoshe
      @MotoMouthMoshe  6 лет назад

      Thanks for the kind words. If you keep it at 65, and you're not in cold weather, range is not significantly reduced. It starts to drop sharply if you hold it above 75mph and / or if it's in the cold. I had a chance to test in high 30s / lower 40s.

    • @hegel2u
      @hegel2u 6 лет назад +2

      100 miles is not limited range for a motorcycle, it would be extremely rare that you would go more than 100 miles without stopping for a break. I live in Massachusetts, and there are public chargers everywhere, I'd imagine it's similar in California. I also have chargers at both of my homes, as well as at work, so with this developed network running into range problems is a non-issue for me. To your other question, speed does not significantly reduce range, you can easily cruise at 65+ without having an impact on range. Cold weather does make a difference, but not a lot. I get 130-140 miles with my BMW i3 in the summer months, and this gets reduced to about 110 miles in deep winter (temps in the teens and 20s).
      Yes, going electric will move you into a dramatically different world of mobility, one that you need to spend a bit of time adjusting to, but you will never look back.

    Hey Moshe - Great video! Are there provisions for hard bags? Touring on an E-Scooter?

    • @MotoMouthMoshe
      @MotoMouthMoshe  7 лет назад

      Hi - thanks. There is a provision for a large top case, but it was not ready in time for my test. You can surely tour on it. Ben Rich and other EV riders have proven it.

    Thanks for this Moshe, very interesting. Found this on the Airheads FB page, ignore the haters they still think overhead camshafts are the devil's work! First inevitable question; though; what's the projected battery life and likely replacement cost?

    • @MotoMouthMoshe
      @MotoMouthMoshe  7 лет назад +1

      Hello Kev - I deleted it in there. I've never been the type to love either / or motorcycles. I love Airheads, and modern bikes too. Seems like that group is very rigid. I didn't mean to cause a stir. Battery warranty per BMW is 5 years. I haven't seen any evidence that there are battery life issues on the i3, or any other EV for that matter. There are Volts out there now with 400,000 on the original batteries. I don't think it's a concern, at all.

    • @KevScriv
      @KevScriv 7 лет назад +1

      Thanks for that. I'm in the UK so I don't think we'll see this for a few years yet; but as you well know it's a common concern as is reduced range and performance as batteries age.Five years is refreshingly optimistic on the battery warranty, should allay a lot of fears. You're right about that page; you got away light you should see the hate that folk get when they dare to show a chop or bobber.Great for tech info though but no sense of humour. And I've owned old Harleys for 30 years so I've met a fair few purists in my time! Ride safe buddy.

    • @MotoMouthMoshe
      @MotoMouthMoshe  7 лет назад

      Thanks. In the States, the EVs for sale in our market generally have stellar battery reliability. In this case it's cells straight out of the i3 car, so no issues I know of. Re UK, this scooter has actually been for sale in Europe for some time. I think 2-3 years already. It's brand new in the US market, though.

    • @m1aws
      @m1aws 7 лет назад

      Five years g'tee is not optimistic for an automotive "Lithium" battery. If you must store the bike. Leave it at 50% charge so it will not degrade.

    • @KevScriv
      @KevScriv 7 лет назад

      Thank you. I have no working knowledge of EV's beyond what manufacturers put out, hence my interest in a genuine consumer review. Incidentally, a good friend of mine over here, a confirmed petrol-head who rides a V-Rod hard, was selected as one of H-D's Livewire test riders on a track day; she came back full of praise for it. It's progress; might not be entirely to our liking but it's still a helluva lot better than walking!

    Great review ! What Might be the standby time of power am I able to ride 5 miles to work leave the bike parked for 12 hours and return to my bike with no loss of battery power ? Thank you

    • @MotoMouthMoshe
      @MotoMouthMoshe  7 лет назад +1

      Hello, and thank you. If I understand your question correctly, you're asking if you lose charge while the bike just sits there as you work. The answer is no, not in any meaningful amount. The "shelf life" losses on a battery this size are measured in months, not hours. It's not an issue.

    Hello Moshe,.... I have the second generation c evolution BMW e Scooter,.... and in this case, I would eliminate "NIGGLE#2", since the eBike already has a power port inside the right hand locker (and I believe the model you were testing also had it).
