Thank you for sharing this valuable information. It is the best video I have seen on the cost of the trail especially the budgeting breakdown. There is no doubt you had a financial background! Have fun and good Luck!

Loved this video. It's so good to see hikers more my age out there hiking. It gives me hope. I'm really hoping to do my AT Thru-Hike next year, at least that's my goal. Thank you very much for the budget breakdown. I've been doing research on that as well, but didn't fully think about current inflation costs. Thank you for that excellent tip and info. I'm really excited to follow you. - Shybee

Deals can be had at Air B&B’s. Especially if you are hiking with a small group. Full kitchens are great for cooking real meals.
Best of luck and watch out for that ice…

Take advantage of river rafting or tubing diversions. Don't just force march everyday. Enjoy side trips & other activities. It is all about having fun.

Not sure what the current exchange rate is, but that's another thing to keep in mind. A budget of $10,000 Cdn could turn out to be significantly less in US funds. Looking forward to following you on your journey!

Thanks for the comment, I guess I should have clarified these are American dollar amounts, cause yeah the exchange rate sucks.

It's cheap if you don't stay at hotels, only shop at stores, don't go to bars, stay outta town, and hike 20 miles a day. Older? Grandma Gatewood didn't party in town or take shuttles.

I think that approach would grow old very quickly, especially when it’s raining for weeks on end.

Maybe she was conceived in a hostel. Just kidding. But yeah, I mostly just listen to videos and when she said she was an old hiker I hurt my neck when I did a double take. 😂
