    Though I am born and brought up in Andhra myself, I must admit that Telugu industry makes the best low IQ movies, physics defying stuff with socially problematic themes, particularly with respect to women, compared to all other industries in our country. One would argue that other industries (the likes of Bollywood, Bhojpuri, Tamil, Kannada, Bengali and a bit of Malayalam) are no better, but the amount of cringe in Telugu mainstream cinema tops it all. Worst part is even the so called educated, NRI Telugu audiences also loving and patronising such misogynistic concepts. The director of Pushpa movie was a Maths lecturer in the past and has still sold his soul to making logic defying content, with constant objectification of women drooling over men with no iota of self respect and the compulsory inclusion of an item song in each and every movie of his.

      You said it right and the sad fact is the you are in the minority. The majority of the guys in General who watch Telugu movies have no issues with showing females in a poor light or stalking them or physics defying action and logic less scripts ( Look at Rrr ) as long as it shows the actors in a positive light. Just look at the comment section here. The majority are defending the scenes with their life. I fear the next decade of Telugu movies will be more or less the same. Just massy illogical masala stuff because the audience just loves them.

In one of the important scene which you highlighted, Yash's character actually slaps and calls the heroine behaving like bitch as she just went through an accident. Back then this type of content was actually quite normal in movies ( not just Kannada, but every other neighbouring languages). I am not surprised about the acceptance of the movie. It actually went on the become sleeper hit celebrating 50, 100 days, cementing Yash's position as a star. Even now, memers make shorts of such videos using moj, tiktok etc.. to make status as if it's an achievement.

    How is telugu audience ok with all these harrassment scenes and insane physics defying stunts? Literally every single Telugu movie has problematic and illogical stuff. Even in movies like rrr and Bahubali, like these makers have such a huge budget, why can't they spend some time on basic physics.

    • @stillwithyouenthusiast8124
      @stillwithyouenthusiast8124 2 года назад +20

      The reason is :
      The mass popularity of these actors. If you try to criticize the scenes in any social media platform the die hard fans would give you a very hard time. And alot of people including me tend to ignore it . We're kinda habituated to it too , like if its mass /action / masala telugu movie which is shot on a big scale ,it is a given that there will be some sequences which are illogical . But the reason we tend to watch these movies is definitely 'guilty pleasure'.

      @Abhieram. The majority of Telugu audience is ok with it and the females are also to blame as they don’t speak up and then both sides are just blind fan followers of the male stars in the movie, so they don’t even question the logic less scripts. I don’t think this will change any time soon. Only thing Telugu has in its favor is it’s got scale and hence able to make movies like Bahubhali and Rrr with ok stories but not great . Might take another decade before the audience wakes up. Just look at the comment section where a huge majority is defending the scenes and even offended by Jammy for talking about them.

    Shaming people for their dark skin color is a commonplace in director shankar's films. In shivaji, apart from the the scenes where Rajini tries to be white, dark skinned neighbor girls (made to wear cartoonishly dark makeup) are subjected to mockery. In nanban, the tamil remake of 3 idiots, Farhan's character is shown to get married to Raju's sister and bawling his eyes out in a hypothetical scenario. Guess what, she's dark skinned and made out to be a caricature. This "creative decision" is exclusive to the remake which is kinda worrying.

    Talking about pushpa, i do agree that many may find romantic subplot problematic in the first half. Him following the girl and then offering money for a kiss was definitely problematic when you see them as inidividual scenes. But when you see the film in totality, pushpa himself is a flawed character. He is manipulative, ruthless and definitely not a righteous guy. There are many scenes to showcase this. If you look at the scene where srivalli actually comes to pushpa for help in the middle of the night. He initially refuses to do so cuz she doesn't love him and his ties with jaali reddy could be threatened. He only decides to help her only when she confesses her love to him. Showing him as a righteous guy and then making him do that all the stalking stuff is sure problematic cuz good guys don't that.

      I think the point of that was that Madhavan's character is a misanthropic person. It was never meant to show them or his behavior in a positive way or for him to be considered a hero. The show is not glamorizing that, it is trying to hold a mirror to these issues and why they are wrong
      It also shows how the rich and well to do pretend to be liberal and woke in public but in reality this is who they are
      Think of Madhavan as an Eric Cartman kind of character

    • @digi6643
      @digi6643 2 года назад +30

      I think that's the whole point. His behavior is one of the biggest reason for his wife dumping him. It shows how this so called upper class society acts like they are the WOKEST human beings on the planet but in reality they don't give a fuck about anyone but themselves. The difference in the way they talk about their help workers, partners and women in general with their friends and family and acting all educated and woke in public...

      I believe it's meant to be a satire. A mockery. But I haven't watched yet, so I'll leave it up to Jammy to let me know before I invest my time into it. He's the most trustworthy one out there.🤭
      I have hope, because
      A) Madhavan is associated,
      B) People often fail to understand sarcasm in our country. (Take any of AIB videos for example. People hated on them and found them unfunny because they didn't get the humor.)

    In 2013 I lived in bangalore. Most of the youths(men I met) were like Yash's Googly character only. Movies are a product of it's time. That's it. And also, men at the age of 22-23 won't be 100% matured. That's what this movie showcased. He was wrong, but he corrected himself to be a better version of himself. He became a better, successful man due to his love failure. In that sense, it's a motivational movie for boys!

    Pls react to the Telugu movie Chavu kabburu chalaga . Although it may seem like a progressive film on remarriage at the first glance it is actually a terrible film . The hero , a mortuary van driver , sees the heroine mourning for her dead husband and he falls in love with her and starts stalking her and trying to get her to forget her husband since he’s dead and that she should marry him . The funny thing is that she actually agrees that she should forget her husband and marries him. Remarriage isn’t wrong but forcing a random person to marry you when they are still mourning by stalking them is not cool !!

    Telugu Industry is without doubt one of the worst in the country. Now they are being celebrated because of somee high budget productions...but budget is all whats there...
    most of the movies have the same crappy "mass hero" glorified superhuman who beats up bad guys...cringe and problematic notions of romance...heroines reduced to glam dolls...lame attempts in the name of comedy...stereptypical villains..and insane amount of melodrama
    Even in this one episode there is absurdities of Allu Arjun, Ram Charan and Balakrishna listed...all these are big stars of the state and their movies are hit despite the repeated presence of such regressive content.
    Such a rotten industry

Just beacuse you doesnt like something or accept something, calling it worst just shows ur maturity... can i name the films in all other industries which had such regressive elements?

      @@sivateja4942 I did not say these movies are hit. I said their movies are hit despite having regressive content.
      Let's take Allu Arjun's mega hit Ala Vaikuntapuranuloo for example. I loved the song Samajavaragamana without knowing the meaning of the lyrics. When I actually got to watch the movie on Netflix with subtitles, the entire song was primarily dedicated to objectifying her legs in the name of romance.
      Even his latest movie Pushpa, which is yet another cliched story, had its 4 minute so called "romance scene" trimmed off because audience felt uncomfortable.

I don't mean to offend south movie fan Boys but this is the hard hitting truth. This trend is ardently followed in Pushpa as well

    I grew up watching movies of Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna and RaviTeja. Although as a teenager it never occurred to me that most of the movies tend to cross borders of anything that is remotely close to logical thinking or reasoning. I like the fact that you bring out the weirdest of weirds with this series of MATLAB KUCH BHI. Nandamuri BalaKrishna is by far one of the most meticulous actors of Telugu film industry. But as he aged, he experimented with weird roles and his fans just loved him for anything he did. It would be unfair to discount the fact that he is one of the few actors who can always get the diction right with his impeccable language skills. But I guess Telugu film audiences, at least most of them (mass category) are just interested in watching antiques of a man and a woman, however senseless it might be. And this is one category that cannot be ruled out of entertainment.

    I don't know if it's only me but when we see problematic scenes in movies and say they are problematic.
    Why don't reviewers point out when people who wrecked our country in name of what not and modern generation directors glorify their acts and give a heroic reason for doing that.
    And upon that reviewers instead of even pointing out the lies being fed, they focus on technical aspects of movie, acting and talents involved.
    Why is it this hypocrisy when issue is not sexual.
    Problematic is problematic, whatsoever the budget, talents involved or efforts are.
