    Hi Bryan. I took your advice and bought the T28 1.2m here in the UK. I've now painted the dummy radial and prop hub and installed nav and landing lights. Fantastic aircraft. A great introduction to warbirds! Great advice.

      Thanks and welcome to the T-28 club! I wish I would have joined the club sooner as I had no idea the T-28 was going to be such an awesome aircraft. I really love flying it. My grandfather trained in T-28's when he was in the Air Force and loved the plane. After flying my RC version, I can see why! Painting the hub and radial makes a big difference in how the plane looks. I wish I would have done the lights as those are always nice to have on a plane. I like to fly mine in the evening and having lights would just make the plane look even better. I might have to go back and add those later. I did add a tailhook to mine since the video was filmed since the plane was used for carrier qualifications. I have more pictures here flic.kr/s/aHBqjzUEGt

    Great job on this unboxing . I liked history segment . The T-28 is an outstanding aircraft and a must have for all RC plane enthusiasts .This version has some nice upgrades and livery . In a happy coincidence one of my 1.1M Yellow T-28s finally decided to touch down today , after going full blast , hitting and spending the last 2 weeks airborne in a tree . LOL All good , just some tiny repairs and paint touch ups . Lost one wheel . Back in the air tomorrow . 👍🏼

      Glad you got yours back! Those evil trees really like to hold on to planes. There has been so many times over the years that I got really close to buying a T-28 and never pulled the trigger. Everyone who has flown one, either the UMX, 1.1m, 1.2m or even the big Carbon-Z T-28 all say they are fantastic planes and a must-have. I am glad to finally have one! Now I just need the weather and my schedule to allow me to fly it.

    Cut a small piece of light plywood or paneling that will extend the battery tray at the back. Attach a battery strap to the bottom and epoxy it to the tray on top. Cover the tray with shelve liner(the rubbery kind). That will allow you to secure the battery tightly at an aft c.g.
    The Eflite 1.2m T-28 has a wide c.g. range. I fly with mine about 3mm back from factory with a 4s 2200mah and am able to flair perfectly every time!. 👍

      Thanks for the suggestion. I have been flying mine on a 2700 4S and balanced at the factory center for the CG range. I love how it flies, and yes, landing on the mains and not the nose gear is key to keeping your nose gear on the plane. Too many pilots slam the plane to the ground on the nose wheel first and wonder why they are having problems. A real T-28 would have that issue as well if the pilots landed the way some RC pilots do. Since getting mine a year ago, the T-28 has moved up to become one of my all time favorite planes to fly. I just love the model.

    Very nice video, Sir. I've about 30 hours on my Eflight Commander 1.4m mPd controlled by my Spectrum NX8 and I love it. It feels a little underpowered, and it would be great if it had a stronger ESC, retracted landed gear and LEDs included in the kit, of course it would jack up the price a little. I just recently purchased this beautiful looking warbird trainer, and once this weather clears, I'll get up in the air.

      Thank you! That is a lot of time on the Commander! I have never flown one of those, but always hear good things about them. You will love the T-28! I was not one who was overly excited about the T-28 and probably why I held off on getting one for so long. I fell in love with the plane over the summer and it went to the flying field far more than I expected. It flies great, looks great, easy to see, and can easily go from relaxing to exciting with pouring on the power. Don't be shocked if the battery sits really far back in order to get it to balance. Mine and a few others have reported that the battery is hanging off the tray in order to balance properly. Mine balances per the book and flies awesome, but the battery looks way too far back. Don't panic if yours is like that as well. Just position the battery to get the plane to balance per the manual and you will be ok. With any tricycle landing gear plane, be sure to take car of the nose gear. Flare on landing so the mains always touch first and hold the nose up to bleed off airspeed until the nose drops naturally. That will protect the nose gear and will match full scale landings very nicely. Enjoy the T-28!

      @@BRGT350 Thank you, Sir! Your reply is very well taken. I did have, or what I thought I had a CG issue with my 3200mAh 4S 50C. As you state, I had to place the battery far back, but as long as it doesn't interfere with any wiring or servos like you said it should be fine. I can't wait to maiden it hopefully this weekend when we get some clear skies here in San Diego.
      I'm curious, if you look at the specs on this AVIAN lite 70A ESC, it takes 3S-6S. The next question is will the 850kV motor handle a 6S. If so, I'd sure like to give it a go.

    • @BRGT350
      @BRGT350  Год назад +1

      I would not suggest 6S. Typically the 6S aircraft use an IC5/EC5 connector to handle the current, plus the motor, prop, and airframe are not designed for 6S. You would most likely burn up the motor, cause the prop to come apart, pull the motor out of the plane, and damage the airframe. The 1.2m T-28 was originally designed as a 3S plane only. The updates to the electronics allowed it to run 4S. The plane is already way overpowered on 4S. I typically fly mine on 3S, but have used 4S a number of times. I just throttle far back on 4S to avoid it looking silly.

      @@BRGT350 I understand. I initially saw this idea from this YT video: ruclips.net/video/yAKL2S4zqVY/видео.html and was intrigued. It also ripe the wing(s) off. Quite honestly, if you're looking for scale, I suppose a T-28 doing 600 MPH doesn't really make a whole lotta sense. LOL. But 4S should suffice... Thanks for the great advice and videos. 👍

    2200 just feels too small.

    • @BRGT350
      @BRGT350  Год назад

      I have flown on a 2200 3S, 2200 4S, and 2700 4S. All are fine. I have started to standardize most of my 1.2m warbirds on the 2700 4S packs as they balance better after I get done painting/detailing/clear-coating the planes, which tends to make them very tail heavy. The 2700 4S packs moved further forward help to offset the weight of the paint and clearcoat on the back half of the planes. The only exception is my 1.2m P-51 that flies on a 2200 3S as the 2200 4S pack is very tight against the canopy and I need to modify the canopy to get it to fit properly. My 1.2m T-28, both Corsairs, and P-47 are now standardized on the 2700 4S.

      A considered response. Have seen people fly this bird on 4s 4000, am picking this model up tomorrow and am taking inspiration regarding your approach to gloss coating. What kind of flight times do you achieve on 4s 2700?@@BRGT350

    • @BRGT350
      @BRGT350  Год назад +1

      A 4S 4000 would most likely help lead to overstressing the landing gear along with making the plane feel very heavy in the air. I get about 5 minutes out of my 2700 4S pack. I am sure I could throttle back and get more like 6 minutes, but it is too much not to get on the power a bit.

      @@BRGT350 bought this plane and been successfully flying with 4000 and 5000 packs, very agile still, bags of power. Used Overlander 5000 mah.

    • @BRGT350
      @BRGT350  Год назад

      You can surely fly on whatever battery you prefer, but I wouldn't fly on a heavy pack. I tend to avoid heavy batteries at all cost. I have found that a lot of people who break or damage landing gear also fly with large packs, which can overstress the landing gear. Plus where I fly, I can't really go more than 5 minutes before needing to be back on the ground, so having a large pack to fly longer doesn't do me any good.
