- RDR 2 lets you do a lot of things, like stealing trains for the hell of it on your own time. They even took the time to make the train extra detailed just like everything else in the game.

Well, I suppose if you had a straight stretch of track with a level grade, and you weren't haulin' no cars behind you, and if you can get the fire hot enough, and I'm talkin' about hotter than the blazes of hell and damnation itself... then yes, it might be possible to get her up that fast.
@@Popnetic "weren't haulin no cars" a double negative..so we are pulling cars? the tracks back in the early days were crap.. very light pound rail and I doubt it was very straight. none of the high tech MOW equipment existed that lays track these days...jointed rail is something....now get that 2-6-0 on a modern day line with 115 pound rail and a long straight and there is a possibility it could get to a high speed...

Train robbery was never really a thing in the UK. Probably because the trains are never where they're supposed to be when they're supposed to be there...
Well that and nobody owned guns. Sombody would blow a whistle and the coppers would bash you with their clubs.
Apart from in 1963 when there was 'the great train robbery' which was one of the most famous robberies in UK history. Sadly no cowboys involved due to the times though :(

Me and my friends rode around the map with a train. Hogtying each other and trowing them off. No bounty ever we killed everyone on it in the middle of Saint Denis and no one bat an eyelid. Super fun 10/10

There should be a crash system where if you take a corner too hard you crash. Would look amazing if it went down a mountain
I can only find cargo trains with the ones flat bed cars and the box cars, and there no guards on them

My only real issue with the train is that the passenger cars look rather fat and low to the ground. I suppose this was so the camera could flex around a bit easier, as the coaches were a little less roomy in real life, but they could have just scaled down the characters since people generally were smaller back then.
But I give them serious props for getting the controls on the locomotive right!
Maybe in Red Dead Redemption 3 they can study some blueprints of some fine rolling stock, like the Virginia & Truckee or late 60's Central Pacific. Maybe even go all out with the color schemes.
One thing that would be absolutely awesome is if they could add a full out roundhouse and train yard like the one that used to be on the Virginia & Truckee in Carson City. With a large variety of locomotive types and switches leading to many different towns.
That would be PERFECT!!!

And I'm aware that this game takes place in the 1890s, but that doesn't mean a this railroad can't use older rolling stock.

I still give them extra props for there cabooses being the correct style.
1890s 4-6-0. Uses strasburg 90s bell and whistle. Gotta love that cab tho.

How did you lose your wanted level while driving the train? Did you outrun the lawmen that normally chase you when you hijack the train?
Wingview Productions sneak through and hogtie all guards. Wait until over a bridge and push the train operator out the window. Reverse until you’re in a tunnel and wait 30 seconds. Hide against the inside wall of the operator cabin and wait.... and I’m chatting shit, even with all that you still get caught. Cheats or a glitch I’m guessing...

Brian Liesberg the reverser handles that. The throttle is pulled back regardless
1:47 he's pulling the throttle back farther to go back faster, doesn't touch the reverser once.
If you come across a train being robbed you can kill the robbers and take the train without a wanted level.

no, but that's kinda realistic because the boilers of steam locomotives have thick steel walls to withstand high pressure, this also means that for most guns of the time one of those boilers would be bulletproof.

Nope its not like GTA SA where you can steal the train and go so fast you derail it. But in GTA 5 now its on PC there is mod that lets you drive the train and derail it just like in GTA SA. So I guess Steam Trains in RDR 2 are not as fast as the locomotives we have today.

Yes you can? Theres side missions and shit. In an open world game they don't stop you from playing once you've completed.

Can you get your horse back?
as long as the horse doesn't hit the side of the train in any way (cause it might get knocked over and killed by the train, and there's no reviving the horse after something like that). i would guess that much like OG RDR your horse will find you pretty much wherever you end up after you're done driving the train.

I really don't understand why Rockstar didn't let us drive the trains in GTA 5.
Honestly it would be pretty boring..none of the railroad in GTA 5 is accurate..grades are to steep, crossings dont activate early enough, signals dont function (they only show a " Clear" aspect..green over green, which should only be found in rare occasions on dwarf signals, not on signals on the mainline) they should have different aspects for different parts of the route. Physics are crap, no sense of weight of the train and no slack action in the couplers...air brakes dont work, cant throw switches, cant uncouple and couple cars, no variety in power and rolling stock..trains are too short, and they run in a huge loop, no point to point like real life....etc...etc...etc...

I feel like GTA SA's map was more bigger and the railroads were in different cities, but yeah I do feel like they could've done more with the train in GTA 5. Thankfully there is a mod for that on PC.
