This exchange and Bowie's Tesla pretty much elevate the entire movie. They sell Tesla's mystique and genius so well. Without him, the movie wouldn't be nearly as interesting.
@@PiCheZvara I agree, I got obsessed with learning more about Nikola Tesla's work after this movie and his inclusion in the movie shrouded everything in a mystery
I remember when he was mostly famous for doing MoCap roles but seeing his actual self on screen is awesome! Wish we got to see more of his “Klaw” character from Black Panther
As great as the movie is, and it's pretty damn great, I feel it wouldn't carry half the punch it does if it didn't have Tesla as a character, Bowie portraying him so well and the analogy that science is the actual, true magic in the real world. There's just something in these scenes about Tesla and with Tesla that's almost poignant. Whatever it is, I honestly can say I am intrigued by Borden's and Angier's battle, Jackman and Bale are top notch, but it's David Bowie and his Tesla that made me love the movie. And nothing sells the mystique around him like the lines "where are the wires?" "Exactly."
The issue is they keep using incandescent bulbs in the movie which co some high power while his Florescent bulbs used less and can light up from emf radiation easily which he demonstrated often
I had this surreal moment watching the film recently when I heard the name Tesla and thought, "Hey, they're borrowing the name from Elon Musk's company!" "No, wait, he named the company after *this* guy." Lol
That's just a fan theory. One that is disproved by Nolan himself, BTW, since he literally said he personally took a plane and went to try and convince Bowie to take the role because he though only he could have portrayed Tesla.
The question is: Is fallon an actual twin brother, or is he a duplicate made by borden with another machine that angiers believes tesla made for him previously?
He's a duplicate from the machine Tesla built him. At some point before this story unfolds, Alfred got into contact and met Tesla and had him construct a similar machine to only use for show and it ended up duplicating him and Alfred took advantage of this and used it for his work. He hid it all too. He hid it extremely well and it paid off.
@Axel von Axelsson yess that is the main difference between bale and hugh's character , bale does it for art and hugh does it for showmanship to be better magician
There are twins. If they were duplicates, then they wouldn’t have been so confused how Hugh Jackman was doing his trick. If they were duplicates then it would have obvious to them that Hugh was able to also get a machine.
The two Bordens are twins, the machine creates exact replica's of whatever goes through it. Thats why Angier never knew if he was the prestige or the man in the box since they are just exactly the same. From beginning you can tell which borden brother is actually around since their personality is completely different. There is the angry one which was the the dare devil of the two and was the one that did the knot that got that girl killed. Then there is the quiet one that is the brains the operation hes the one that designed all the tricks and could figure out other magicians tricks. Hes the one that went to that magic show with Angier to figure out the trick of the Chinese guy. This was all before they went to see Tesla's presentation which the quiet Borden could be seen staring at Alley very curiously the entire time and not dumbfounded as everyone else by the Tesla machines. The quiet one cant figure out how Angier is doing the transported man since hes actually using the tesla machine to duplicate himself over and over killing himself every night. Quiet Borden tells the angry one to drop it and leave Angier alone. Angry twin cant leave it and goes to the show and gets set up by Angier for his murder. Borden writes that tesla is his method because tesla is running the same trick as the Bordens. Tesla is actually Alley and Bowie's character is just a proxy so Tesla can freely move around unbothered by Edison's men since they would think hes just tesla's nobody assistant.
Europeans are so insecure when talents of theirs move to the States where their talent would be better harnessed and appreciated than the failing countries they came from lol.

Plot twist, the movie is really about Nikola Tesla.
Tesla, maybe the greatest scientific mind of all time.
Be believed that power could be sent through the Earth dozens/hundreds of miles. He believed a signal could travel through t heEarth a thousand miles.

Wireless transmission of power through the Earth was conducted successfully by Tesla. It was not a myth. Reproduced by Eric Dollard.
The issue is they keep using incandescent bulbs in the movie which co some high power while his Florescent bulbs used less and can light up from emf radiation easily which he demonstrated often
Apple is acting as if their wireless chargers are amazing. Idea is 100+ years old.

Fun fact we are actually watching Tesla not his assistant. He uses David Bowie's character as a face of Tesla so that he himself may still live freely
Like Ra's Al Gul/Ducard in Batman Begins a year earlier. Seems plausible enough
