LYRICS MEANING: These are pretty biblical lyrics that seem to relate with the bible's revelation. It states fairly clearly it's about someone who is proud to be "someone to hate" because they stand for their faith and don't give into evil and false idols. It also seems to say they will preach their faith to others no matter what, even with constant persecution. The verse where they say "I will carry the weight" reflects this nicely, since many Christians say they will "carry the weight" like how Jesus carried the weight of the cross. "I will carry my decree into a storm of lead" seems to say that they will preach their faith even in a "storm of lead", which is commonly a metaphor for a battlefield or storm of bullets firing. In violent areas of the Middle East Christians can easily get shot for their faith. "All you advocates of Hell, you corruptors of free will The culling is nigh, better get your fill" This one seems to be significant in the meaning of the song since it says people who enjoy or are advocates of sin will endure the horrors of "the culling". "Culling" means to select a large population of people, or to reduce a population by slaughtering them. This relates to the tribulation in the bible where most of the population of Earth (the population that is not raptured) will suffer and be slaughtered.
Excellent insight. I only have one comment on the last bit regarding the culling. As a Byzantine Catholic, I do not believe in the rapture, so I take the lyrics to mean that as the final judgment arrives, all those deemed holy by God (wheat/lambs) will be welcomed into the Kingdom of God, while the wicked (chaff/goats) will be cast into hell, hence the culling of the advocates of hell. However, this being a theological difference doesn't take away from the meaning of the song at all, just different perspectives of it. Thank you for reacting to this song, and for continuing on your path to the Lord! God bless you, my brother in Christ, and you are in my prayers!
Born into the lust within our eyes. (Lust with the eye is adultary in the heart.) Taught to write the scriptures for our lives. (Our sad attempt at self mastery and the propagated obsession with self-defined destiny.) We inherit the lies. (The deception of our self worship and idolatry is deep rooted in our own persons, as well as our cultures and concepts.)
I have listened to this song/album a thousand times and as I was watching this and I was wondering what that verse meant. Thanks for clearing it up! I think it's the best song on the album, and I have every Demon Hunter album and IMO it's their best.

“LOOK!!! I have given YOU the AUTHORITY in my name to trample over snakes and scorpions and over ALL POWERS of the enemy and NOTHING shall injure you.” - Jesus Christ Luke 10;19
I really don't think there are any reasons for people to "hate" Christians unless Christians show antisocial behavior toward various groups that are "of the world." Can you think of any particular group that might hate Christians for some reason? I thought the whole point of Christian rap and Christian metal was to make people LIKE Christians and to make them seem more "cool" and "down." Actually, at least one Christian death metal band has stated that their group doesn't get treated any differently as they tour with the worldly-focused bands. So, at least there is not as much concern over such Christians getting too much flack over their alleged "Christian lifestyle." After all, they cuss, smoke, drink, get tattoos, and - for all intents and purposes - they couldn't be singled out unless they had on one of their band shirt, but even THEN it would be quite hard to distinguish THOSE demon shirts from the other demon shirts that are covered in blood. The fans are in the crowd getting contact highs and meeting loose drunk chicks who are probably grabbing their hands and sticking them up their shirts randomly just to be cute. Honestly, if I had been involved in any of this when I was going to my youth group "back in da day" I would have been given a stern talking to and there would be all kinds of drama and house visits from the pastor, etc. I mean, we were told to not listen to Ozzy due to the content and images and also the bad association (including optics) that it produced. Now, in this day and age when the church's influence in waning, almost anything goes, and even those sinful b*tches can get up and preach (EEEEEEK!!!!) and really nobody is going to give a crap because all those specific rules in the Bible have been blurred and completely distorted beyond recognition. All we hear is the never-ending cry of "God so loved the world," ect., etc. .... so then we bow our heads, give the lip service, get saved and maybe baptized and THEN WHAT?!!! The line we used to not cross was listening to death metal or rap or Ozzy, but now THAT is not the line anymore. It used to be that we would not get involved in drugs/drinking but now THAT is no longer the line. Even the occult is not off limits as the demon head of Demon Hunter has a bullet hole right in the "3rd-eye chakra" point and I noticed waves that seem to be radiating out of it. But, of course, you might not have even recognized that because they don't want you too. The black witches of the music industry want to watch Christians embrace "gorship" and all of their potentially spell-laced dark images while they laugh at their naiveté. Worldly psychology filters through the cracks, replacing spiritual solutions, and then we have that stupid Kanye West goofing on Christians, acting like he has been led to Christ. The idea behind "trap metal" is to don the trappings of the Devil's bands for the purpose of trapping those who would otherwise never have the chance to hear the Gospel. So, take that concept and apply it to preachers and pastors who are women. Do you think that if we can "bend the rules" and get into "trap metal," then it might be reasonable to bend the rules to draw in women who might otherwise be turned off by leftover patriarchal traditions of the Church? What's wrong with luring women into a church by giving them a role model who is also a woman JUST AS many young teens are given death-metal-playing teen idols who are also born-again Christians. Do you see a parallel? If we bend the rules one way, we can bend them the other way for the exact same reasons.
The idea of "If I'm being hated I'm doing the right thing" is a very dangerous one. Someone can believe they're doing right while harming their neighbor, and when they retaliate in defensiveness, it creates a sort of confirmation bias. So, this concept is scary. I've seen so many people and communities defend their actions with this logic, to where I've been turned off from the Christian community as a whole.

Christianity isn't about accepting and tolerating all things... it's about standing on God's word at all costs in love and truth!
