    I appreciate this. Have some old tractor trailers I need moved that have cut airlines. Everyone I spoke to who knew how to manually do this acted like it was a huge pain in the ass. Looks like a very easy job as long as the bolts aren't frozen from rust.

    I’m planning on buying a trailer tomorrow and we’re not sure if the lines are going to hold it’s a 27 foot I’m curious if I can do this to the trailer to release the brakes 1969’ trailer

    • @PatrickBaptist
      @PatrickBaptist  2 года назад

      Thanks, yeah it's gonna be the same process on any truck/trailer/bus that has air brakes, if you do this and it seems like the brakes are still on you need to rock it back and fourth a little the pads are just stuck to the drum and need a little encouragement to release.

    Why do you advise to not use an impact wrench?

      You can run the bolt down too far and then need to replace that brake chamber.

      Socket wrench? The other thing was a "caging bolt" that was on the brake chamber in a little holder.

    I’m doing the same thing on a non running bus. In some videos I also see them clamping the emergency brake tube. Is that necessary in the case that the bus is being towed and is not running?

    • @PatrickBaptist
      @PatrickBaptist  2 года назад

      All you need to do is just cage the rear brakes, nothing else to do it will roll till you remove the caging bolts.

    Do you release park brake first

    • @PatrickBaptist

      That would make it easier, but when making this video there was no air pressure to release the brakes.

    Dear brother in Christ.
    My class A motor home, don't want to move, once the engine runing, because the emergency/parking brake, don't want to shut off.
    i press the yellow brake button and it pushed back, not releasing the brakes.
    Dash panel that shows, air 1 and air 2, lights, don't turn off, and the beeping sound neither.
    Mechanic found that the problem was the air dryer.
    Have the air dryer bad, needs replace, but the mechanic, told me that if i needed to move it, that i can shut off the emergency
    air brake manually.
    Can this be done on a 1995 Holiday Rambler Imperial. Spartan chasis, cummins 8.3 diesel engine?
    i don't know anything about this. So, is this the same on a diesel pusher?
    What's the name of the tool that you use? Got it!, nevermind.
    To have the brakes back, just need to released back that screw? i suppose so, but i want to make sure.
    And by any chance do i need to shut off any air pressure before taking the air dryer? Or is it just straight forward take out, and put back in?
    Again, new to me.
    Thanks for the tutorial. May God keep you blessed.

    • @PatrickBaptist
      @PatrickBaptist  2 года назад +1

      Caging your air brakes will be the same on anything, school bus, coach bus/rv bus, semi, they are all the same.
      No need to do anything to air supply when caging brakes.
      I haven't really worked on any though to give advise other than I've just parted them out, but you will for sure want to relieve all the pressure in the tanks before you fool with the air dryer. It's pretty straight forward and I'm sure someone else has a video on it, it's a common thing to deal with. I like those HR units, better built than alot of others, I scrapped out a 83 HR trailer and it even had 12ga wiring in it for the 120v outlets, I've scrapped out other units and only find 14ga stuff mostly unless it was for the AC that is or genny.
      Thank you, Lord Jesus bless you and yours.

    Safety feature? More like a danger feature if you loose compression while driving.

    • @PatrickBaptist
      @PatrickBaptist  Год назад

      Um no, that is to prevent a run away situation, IF the warning buzzer works as it should and is required by law you would get enough warning to pull off to not just stop (provided there is a shoulder), and I'd prefer this over running over the people ahead of me. It's designed to lock up when you are loosing too much air pressure, this is only on the rears and trailers, not the front axle so you can still control it if you aren't controlled by fear that is.
