  • Time: the mystery of what it actually is has enthralled humans for thousands of years. Einstein's special theory of relativity goes a long way to setting a new conceptual basis for the meaning of time. This is explained here by Pervez Hoodbhoy at a level understandable to all, including those with less than high school understanding of physics and mathematics.
    Language: Urdu.

I am 71 years old, a science graduate of 1970. I tried to understand relativity a number of times but This is the first time I think I understood Einstein's concept of relativity.
It is sad that Pakistan ignores to utilize
your services to modernize it's educational system

It’s good to pay attention to scientific concepts and personalities behind these concepts. I feel fortunate to learn Physics and science from an expert such as Pervez sahib.

One of the guests in the audience asked a very informative question about "time and Causality" and Dr Houdbhoy explained it well. That was the very last question. Beside him, most of the guests asked questions that were total waste of time. Like a question that if we travelled to Mars, Our lives would be extended? After such a question, I was about to change the channel but continued due to Dr. Houdhbhoy. Please invite the gustes who have better Physics know how so they could ask questions relative to the topic being discussed . Over all very informative.

      It's okay.
      It doesn't matter.
Today there are only a few people who listen to 'priceless lectures.'
Who knows, if this auditorium will also become short, in future?
Dr. Parvez Sir, his passion to teach and educate the society....
From the land of India, Heartly Salute!!!
Lord Shri Krishna himself has said and assured about this "Karma & Phal" theory in "Shrimad Bhagavad Gita."
I pray to Lord Shri Krishna that the efforts of Dr. Parvez Sir become successful and I have full faith in Lord Shri Krishna about success of Dr. Parvez Sir. The noble intention of Dr. Parvez Sir will be successful.
Dr. Parvez Sir is doing his "Karma".
      No "Karma" goes in vain.
Its result is definitely awarded according to those "Karma".

India mein bhi science mein bacchon ka interest bilkul nhi hai, school mein sab question karte hain ki ISRO ka 800 crore kharcha karke Moon mission bhejne ka kya faida.
Yahan log science bas private job pane ke liye padhte hai par baad mein interest develop hota hai.

Are postulates and assumptions the same ? Assumption - a thing that is accepted as true without proof. Postulate - a thing suggested or assumed as true as the basis for reasoning, discussion, or belief. Presumption - an idea that is taken to be true, and often used as the basis for other ideas, although it is not known for certain.

Beautiful effort by Prof Hoodbhoy,...I think one area which he does not recognise is that the people he is teaching do not seem to express the surprise value of the concept..perhaps Prof must resort to more movie style anecdotes to explain relativity...too bad one needs a scientific outlook to even fail to understand before understanding the concept.

@El-Ḥaakim be-Amr Allāh Thats what i said..too dull to have a meaningful argument..quickly resort to insults...btw there is no shame in not being good audience..Physics is hard, even for smart ppl it is hard..there is nothing wrong in not being able to follow it..and yes I am not a physicist of Prof Hoodbhoy standard, but i try to understand the concepts by asking relevant questions if possible....
