Though they are a bit rarer at 8.3, my favourite target for 9bs are the climbers. A 9b becomes a 9g up high and it's insanely fun to use. I absolutely love them on the 9.0 - 9.3 bracket. The fact that the Cougar has 4 of them coupled with it's maneuverability makes it one of my favourite jets. I haven't even spaded it yet and I have a blast playing it every time.
I'm not really big fan of it because it just feels like I'm just not fast enough to engage stuff like mig 17s tbh I just prefer the a4b
@@douglet2294 Yeah, top speed is an issue. But the low speed makes it easier to reverse people and even shove a 9b up their asses if they choose to go vertical (which for some reason people can't help but do ._.)
I've been debating wether or not to grind it out, ONLY to troll and use it for fun. Because at 8.3 are the early aim 9b missles, which figured it's be fun.

Yeah have put some hours in on this jet back in the day. It's a lot of fun to fly. He pretty much nailed the performance aspects. This jet is real good at bomber hunting with the AIM 9bs. Also, a lot of times u get good missile shots because no one is expecting missiles at 8.0-8.3 and they are not looking out for them. AIM 9bs aren't to bad if they are at a consistent turn angle they might actually hit. However, if they are dodging all over the place you ain't gonna hit them.
I think the possible kill potential of the missiles is greater than any mobility gains from not taking them, especially in uptiers where superior planes can just fly circles around yours all day. They have to respect the threat of a sidewinder or else they'll catch one in their tailpipe.
Ive had alot of difficulties with this olane because of its bad acceleration 2, maybe 3 turns and it turns into a tub
It doesn't have bad acceleration you are turning too much, the plane has LEX which helps with instantaneous turn but not sustained turn. So try to not turn as much or as hard force people into a scissors type fight that is where you do best.

Damn, I never thought how powerful Aim-9Bs could be because most planes with them they are fast but this plane is slow and most of planes at the BR are slow.
only people not paying attention and flying in a straight line will be hit by aim9bs
@@charlescourtwright2229 almost all kills he got was him shooting the aim9b's at slow people because they cant dodge them
Maybe not the best acceleration, but it seems to dive really well, so I often use a short dive to recover my speed, and it seems to work pretty well.

this and the mig 15 are a great duo of beautiful early jets
Its good as support because of its missiles and cannon, its not meant to be really a frontline jet because of its performance.

I just got this thing, specifically for the Aim-9 at 8.3. I play GRB with the Sheridan and Bradley and wanted something fun to fly out when the air is too cramped for the B-57B
The information about overcoming the compression is pretty useful, I’ll try to hold my speed better and treat it more like a P-47 😂

I could never get this jet down right. I adore the look of it and I bought the "Lynx One" skin for it because RCAF fanboy.
Might revisit this plane. I just wish it couldn't matchmake with the MiG-21, absolutely ridiculous.
I've only ever had that happen to me like once every 8 or so matches.
I'm trying to grind F86A from stock but with sale it's nearly impossible with all the missile spam and constant uptier. Is there any hint beside whats in this video coz looks like 8.3/8.7 is another premium valley at the moment with missile spam everywhere (red tops and vixens arent fun)

I hated this plane at the start considering how bad it's stock...
then you have the F-86A-5 which is absolute dogwater for an 8.3! SURE you can go mach 1 in a dive with it but thats about all its good for... the guns dont do well at that BR since EVERYTHING else will be armed with autocannons that fire nuclear bullets capable of 1 tapping anything in the game (excluding tanks and ships ofc) the maneuverability is mediocre at best (your not going to out turn anything you face unless its an uptier and theres supersonics around) and if you physically cannot get any pilot skill points like me... GOOD LUCK GETTING ANY FORM OF LEAD ON ANYTHING WITHOUT PASSING OUT!

Hmm, this game should FORCE people into cockpit view...i dont believe in dogfights the way one would play with two toy planes in hand. It's to easy.
I got this thing nearly 2 years ago along with every other US rank 6 plane (this was before rank 7) and said F*ck this and only crewed and used the F-4E and never really tried anything else. I used other rank 6 and 7's when they were added such as Harriers, A-7D's, F-5's, Thuds and the F-4J but skipped the A-4's, FJ's, F-100, F-104's, F3H, F9F's and most of the F-86's (which is a sin considering they are one of my favourite planes visually)
Any rank 6 US planes I should go back and try??
F-2 saber. Amazing in a downtime but outclassed in every way in an uptier, but the maneuverability and the guns make up for it, if you can stomach the repair cost.
Edit: I forgot it’s rank 5 oops. Uhhmmm actually idk I haven’t played much else in US rank 6 recently.
@@_Joob The F-2 Sabre is rank 6 for what ever reason. But even with 19 million SL that repair cost is keeping me away. But hey might give it a shot

@@Thunderbox247 When dumb pilots stop playing a plane it only leaves the best to play and drive the rep cost up. Its worse in France the F1C is like an upgraded F4E but has 2x the rep cost.
