In the last quiz we can also say ‘she is getting used to her new role at work now’ indicating she is in the transition process’?
Absolutely. That also works as an example sentence.
I just confused in Quiz at 4 . I thought it is correct to put ( was used to )
Ex.
I used to smoke frequently. I'm used to smoke less frequently. However, I'm trying to get used to smoke rarely...
I hope I will be able to do it!
Thanks for sharing your examples, Meisam. Great work with the first sentence.
With the second and third sentences, I recommend reviewing the word "smoke." Revisit the lesson that highlights the structure of 'be used to' and 'get used to.' What might you change?
Sorry for the mistake and thanks for the correction, It was my fault and carelessness! I think "smoking" should be used in the second and third sentences...
I used to live in Sri Lanka. now I am getting used to live here; Texas USA.
I used to be afraid before.
I used wake up later till now.
I used to have challenges, but not anymore
I am getting used to watch your video every week .
I used to be a gymnast, now I’m getting used to be a squash player.
used to
I used to watching hindi movie since i was a kid but for now i'm watching korean drama everyday. I get used to watching movie with a snack.
getting used to
I used live in Afghanistan, but i live in Canada now.
I used to live...*
I will be getting used to foreign languages to express my real feeling about many things.
Thank you! But I still don`t understand the difference between TO BE USED TO and TO GET USED TO. "I am used to living here", "I got used to living here" look similar to me
They are very similar. The use of "got used to" emphasizes that this process took a lot of time. It isn't something that happened quickly. The use of " am used to" tells the listener how you feel now but we don't know how long it took. Did you become comfortable living in the location quickly? Or did it take a long time? I hope this helps to clarify.
@@Speakconfidentenglish Thanks a million! It indeed helped!
I used to drink coconut water but now I'm drinking coffee because of winters.
Is it right to say I'm trying to get used to....
Absolutely. If you are in the process of making a change to a habit, for example, this would be a good structure to use.
To sum it up:
"He used to get used to using used cars, which he used to get to work every morning."
Ha! Thank you for sharing! 😀
@@Speakconfidentenglish Thanks for your kind reply. Grammatical semantics is indeed a very complicated business to foreigners for they are always trying to find a way through confusing polysemy by means of contrastive and confrontative linguistics.
If you always wake up early, you will get to use to it.
"Used to" is a semi- modal verb. Is " be used to" and "get used to" also semi-modal verb? All three are followed by bare infinitive verb.
Hi, thanks for the question. You can get all the details of the structures we use with the lesson online. You'll noticed they aren't all followed by the bare infinitive verb. www.speakconfidentenglish.com/confusing-words-used-to/
Personally speaking I used to make mistake. No more. I'm pretty much done.
whats the different between GOT USED TO and USED TO? one more time pls
Challenges always teaching this .......mm
are used to
I’m getting used to not eat meat in the night.
Hi there.
Sorry, but your operator was squeaking their camera during the whole process. I've used my headphones so probably it was just my problem and nobody else cares.
Thanks for teaching.
I’d rather got used to be grateful than be ungrateful as her .
