As his family would have spoken of his past (the past he wanted to leave behind), they would have been missing to. That is needed for a clean cut and break. He wanted to isolate his old from his new life. Anything else would not make sense. I lost my kids for similar reasons. These stories may be fiction, but similar stories happen. This stories would not be believable if there would be more fiction than reality. But if you describe reality you must be truthfull. Law and courts work in certain ways. If you break the rules of reallife, stories would sound fake. This story was close enough to what might happen.
You were not unreasonable and your son needs to just grow up. Find their own solutions, by the way are they now too rich to find a new place and have better connection. Don't try to get the wedding finished. Lilly needs to cancel on this guy who will never be good for her. Now he need to know what a fix himself and respect you. Forgiveness may come not because you see it fit to forgive but it takes too much energy to go on. What will happen is you will never forget. To bad for him because it was unconditional love and trust now his mom will never not stop looking over her should.
