Great video. Couple of questions. Do you use static IPs for router and switch? Also, if I’m moving in 4-5 months, do you know how difficult it would be to relocate all equipment maintaining all settings?
You can use static IP for the switch if you want. The router doesn't need the static IP assignment. As far as moving it's as easy as unplugging everything and plugging it back in at the new location. Settings are all saved. Thank you for watching!
@@UltimateTechHubHow do you assign switch ports and or specific devices/computers on the network to a specific VLAN, so that they are tagged? And then how do you setup rules so that certain VlAN networks can talk to others while others can not? Maybe do a deep dive video on that. Thanks!

Help me understand your ACL. You stated verbally that "We want to block all networks from accessing IoT devices" - didn't you mean that you want to keep IoT devices from accessing the networks. i.e. - bad player gets access to my thermostat, however, he is stuck because the ACL says no IoT traffic on other VLANs. However, when I need to get to my thermostat I do not have to join the IoT network. It appears the ACL you created does exactly that. So would you need a ACL for each VLAN to stop traffic or could you select more destinations? I am not being critical here, just want to make sure I understand. Thanks again...

Second question from this great video. I’m in apartment now so can’t install a WAP. What do you think about buying them controller, router, and switch initially and use my google wifi router as in bridge mode for wifi. Use this setup until May when I move into my new house where I’ll install the WAP. Just wanted to get your opinion.
You can still use the WAP and just run an ethernet cable from the switch to the WAP and leave it on shelf or table. I would use only Omada hardware to keep everything simple and easy to monitor. You could even mount the WAP to the wall and run the cable from the bottom of the wall to the spot where the WAP is located.

hmm. you make vlans, but when you have by example 2 networks. 192.168.10.1/24 and 192.168.20.1/24 when you are on a computer with 192.168.10.40 you can not access a device that is on 192.168.20.45 you can only access devices on your own network, or am i wrong?
Why did you set the DHCP range to start from .2 not .1?
I leave the first IP address for a static IP address. Usually my main PC.
Whenever we change the controller gateway IP it goes offline and will never let us get connected without a full factory reset.
Do you need licenses for Omada?
I have one tp link eap 650. All I want to use it for is to take my wifi from my Verizon FiOS router from one side of my house to the other side. tp eap650 is linked via Ethernet cable to my modem/router, it's a combo unit.
How can I make my tp link have the same SSID as my current wifi. Sorry very tech stupid hear, just trying my best.
@vilifyahuman Did you figure this out? I’d like to use one on my home WiFi as well, but not sure how to configure it since it appears to need special configuration.
Really not understanding what the controller is for and what it does. You mention it in video quite a bit, but i dont really understand what it does and how you are using it. Help.
Some people want the physical controller but for me the cloud controller is much easier. And it saves you a few bucks too.
Would like to see a tp-link camera review vs unifi protect
Are you on TRT?
Strange question? Lol! Thanks for watching.
I don't like the size of the APs, for I'd like more like a mesh network instead of APs!
Yes the APs are pretty large. I prefer smaller units as well. They almost seem like they are designed for professional offices.
@@UltimateTechHub Me, only interested in a small home network as I've been retired since 2013.
New TP- Link Switch video just posted here is the link: ruclips.net/video/ae37i61m8BI/видео.html

Why the 670 over the 650? 3200 sq ft two story home was considering the 650. Or would you recommend the 610?
6 months later….what happened to the series?

Terrible support and warranty
Worked for 3 months
How long did it take to get the RMA? Any discounts on shipping charges or full price. Has it been good since it was repaired?
rebadged ubiquiti.
If I need a smartphone to configure everything... I will never get one of these...
You don’t
Are these “controllers” really necessary? Seems like a gimmick device that has features that should be right in the router anyway?
The controller isn't really necessary. You don't need it to manage the network.
@@UltimateTechHub wow thanks for the fast response! the reason i asked is because i just installled an access point using ethernet to an outbuilding on my property. my “ap” is actually an outdated asus router that isn’t even compatible with ai mesh. all i did was give it the same ssid and pw as the main router and i noticed that as i roam around the property, my devices seem to just automatically switch between my router and ap depending on which one i’m getting the strongest signal from. i thought maybe the controller had something to do with seamless roaming.
