As a youth my buddy and I searched for a Leatherman cave in North Salem NY, one of his stops. We lived our summers on Lake Waccabuc in South Salem. There were no paths just locals telling us, “somewhere in those woods” but it was too thick and we did not find it. The locals showed us where to start in but we never found it. Still yet to be discovered by non-iPhone and gizmo addicted youth! Are there any of us left? Good hike video!
I can see how he survived why back in there with a fire going. Id imagine some of the locals may have given him a heavy wool blanket or two. Shame he had to live like that but he definitely had freedom.
There’s a Leatherman’s Cave in Ward Pound Ridge Reservation.we’ve been there many times. It seems to me that the Watertown cave has much more protection from the elements than the one in Pound Ridge. Now I’ll have to visit Watertown!
The rock formation you call the Leatherman Cave is incorrect. The correct name is the Rock House. Until the 16th edition of the CFPA Connecticut Walk Books (1990) it was called it this. For unknown reasons, the name was changed to Leatherman Cave In the 17th edition (1993). The true Leatherman Cave is on a feeder trail near Route 6 at GPS 41.64113, -73.09253. There is a new sign next to it. Please check it out.
I absolutely love to see kiddos outside playing and exploring the woods! Growing up in Ct enjoying Gods blessings
The wonder of your kids exploring was well worth watching your adventure. Family it's everything.
Nice post! Thank you!
God Bless the Leatherman and
God Bless you & your family too!

Thank you for making this. I've been so curious as to what it looked like on the inside. Now I know.

Love Leatherman's Cave there in Watertown. There's a few different ways to get there.
how do you get in i’ve been trying to figure it out where do i park ? is it the little entrance that it has in the map
@@lexibierce493 the entrance is off a road a little way past Black Rock State Park called Bidwell Road. The map in AllTrails has it marked correctly.

Given it's 2024 and the name on the sign is Leatherman Cave we'll just stick with it. It's been 30 years.
Kids; always remember to check for ticks when you go in the woods
