  • Professor Rick Berg and San Diego activist Carol Jahnkow identify the pervasive, yet often unnoticed presence of militarism in American society. Berg examines the way in which the film Platoon (and others like it) have become the most widely accepted historical realities of the Vietnam War, so much so that they have almost completely displaced the actual event. We go from Hollywood to San Diego, where local peace activist Carol Jahnkow decries the massive military build up that has been taking place in the San Diego Harbor. This video provides a varied and interesting look at the way in which military culture and the production of war have become seemingly innocuous part of our daily lives.
