Hi..got my decision letter today after they awarded me and avoid tribunal.
I'm confused by the dates though..can you help please.
It says the award is from 31st Aug 2023 to 20th Dec 2026..but then states they will contact me after 20 Dec 2025...a year before award finishes to review ??..is that normal and what's the likelihood of them stopping it short on the review..is it common ?..please help.
this is normal with the DWP, the award was from the date you applied so basically they have paid you with backpay from 31st aug 2023 to now and then you have the remaining left to be paid monthly untill the 20th dec 2026, however the year before is normal due to the backlog they have on going.

Less than a month in power and I've already gone from having a glimmer of hope, to disappointment to downright flamin' angry. I'm a pensioner. Migrants get far better treatment than people like me who have paid income tax and NI for all our working lives.
How about cutting benefits to illegal migrants before cutting benefits given to people who have paid taxes in this country for their entire life. This is on you if you voted Labour.

Yep proudly worked for nearly 50 years.Only on dole for 3 months when i was 16.Now ive just started receiving my state pension apparently i can go freeze.I might die but ill be warm knowing the fuel allowance im not getting is keeping illegal immigrants nice and toasty.
I didn't vote for Labour, not least because I didn't trust Starmer one bit. I was right not to.
On July 1st, Starmer, campaigning in Tory heartlands said "Pensioners have nothing to fear from me"

This was 3 days before the GE, and it's taken him and his government a little over 3 weeks to renege on that assurance.

I’ve always worked and saved. Now I can finally receive my pension - now I’m told no Winter fuel payment as I took a responsible attitude when I was working. Thank you broken Britain. Hit the most vulnerable of society, pensioners cant hit back. My husband and i are both disabled pensioners, we need the heating on to keep ourselves from getting worse. The winter fuel payment helped us alot, now we have no choice but to go to bed early to keep ourselves warm. What a life. Meanwhile they let thousands of immigrants in and expected to like the idea .what about us.

I am a pensioner with a couple of small pensions on which I pay tax, but it precludes me from receiving any benefits. The winter fuel payment was a Godsend. It’s always easy to bash the pensioners because we don’t have much in the first place. For people like me who are just above the limit for pension credit, we pay for everything from glasses to dental treatment, so the loss of the winter fuel payment really hits our lives. I suppose the free travel card will be next!😊

Second Point: I object to losing my winter fuel payment to pay for the illegal immigrants that Starmer has given carte blanche to. If there is a hole in the economy, maybe paying for all these migrants might be a good place to find cuts.

Notice they aren't complaining about sending 3.5 Billion to Ukraine, or putting illegal immigrants into accommodation free of charge , 🤔 we are bolloxed for 5 years . Yes I will be affected because I worked for 50 years , I have two private pensions and a state pension works out at £16, 500 a year and I pay tax on it , so me and my wife will loose £500 HEATING allowance this winter and it was bad enough last year even with it , was costing us £100 a week and that was just having the heating on 2 hours a day . Disgraceful, Liebour knew what to expect , they are traitors to us and the country .

I'm 74, paid taxes all my life, I struggle now to warm my house in the cold weather,,,,, but this labour government will take away my winter fuel payments and instead, use it to keep foreign criminals in warm cosy hotels, comfortable beds, 3 hot meals each day, free WiFi and even give them pensioners taxes for their pocket money,,, I'm delighted at this, as I'm sure every law abiding, tax paying True brit is,,, such a pleasure to have a government that cares for this country,, I've advised my grandkids to sell my house and get out of this crap country ASAP

I M ONLY ON THE BASIC PENSION . FOLK ON PENSION CREDIT ARE WAY BETTER OFF THEN ME.
I am a pensioner as well as my wife I don't get credits so will be loosing winter payment I worked till I was 68 and have paid 50 years of stamps I also have since 13 suffered chrons but still work as I had a family to feed my wife is in poor health and has had to have two valves replaced in her heart she could not get her pension till she turned 66. I saved up to help us live with out worry should have spent it then would have got pension credit council tax relief ect etc I am not a rich pensioner. I am really pi##ed off.

The anger at the Tory blackhole was palpable. Disgusting what they have done to this country. Slashing at the poorest in society is not the way forward. Foreign aid budgets should have been stopped and support for foreign wars, we cannot afford these luxuries at this time.

Yes I am a disabled pensioner and I don't get pension credit as I have a private pension which takes me just above the limit I will not be able to have any heating on, possibly have to cut down on cooked meals as well. For the first time I am scared.
