Hello gorgeous Garrett, I have been following you for a little while and making the occasional comment but haven’t introduced myself. I’m Australian, a genuine mid-century classic myself, and will soon be downsizing to what will inevitably be my last home. In the past, all my home design choices have been dictated by other family members needs and ideas. This time I will actually be able to have what I want. So, I am really enjoying the process of planning this next stage in life. I actually know the design for my future home, so forward planning is entirely feasible so even before I move I will know what few existing items I love enough to take and will have acquired some new things. I love your content: You are not just creative, but extremely sensible and realistic about what will actually work and what are the pitfalls, particularly when it comes to layout and lighting. Your education and training are very evident. Everyone I know thinks I should be feeling sad to leave my big family home and its memories, but I’m not in the slightest upset. I’m actually very excited at the prospect and spend a lot of time researching ideas and sourcing items I will want. And as for memories-they live inside the head and travel well. So, Garrett, bless you, you are being a good friend and very helpful support as I move to this next stage.
The hint about the size of the rug under a dining table is priceless. I was wondering how big it needed to be to extend under pulled out chairs and Garrett came through again.
You are so welcome! Thank you for watching and supporting the channel. I enjoy sharing what I learned getting my college degree in interior design plus through my connection to the field over the last decade. 😊😊😊
New sub here - I get to be an OG 😀 Found your channel last night & have watched & liked quite a few of your vids. Notification on. I've recently been on a decluttering mission & a little redecorating as i go. Your tips & advice are much appreciated. U are so refreshing & relatable - a rare gem & you've earned yourself another faithful viewer. Take care ✌🏽❤️✌🏽❤️✌🏽 (p.s. - LUV the doggies!!)
Awesome! Thank you! Welcome to the channel. It’s great to have you as a part of our very valued subscriber family. I truly appreciate your comments and support!😊😊🐶🐶
I still have spec home kitchen counters and carpet downstairs, but I’ve bought custom curtains and custom lighting with dimmers. It’s a work in progress.
My home is small so have to be intentional and it has to be multi use. I’m glad I’m on the right track with adding a round coffee table and round dining table on my list. Great tips.
Arden is so adorable🥹 Great video again Garrett! I have a small home so I really need to write these tips down on my pretty notebook intended for home decor that is LeChic approved❣️
Sofas are tough. It’s hard to get to sit on them before ordering. Just because it’s comfortable if you do find one, doesn’t mean it’s the best for the space. The scale of chairs you already have vs the sofa is something worth considering too ( measuring the chair backs and seats off ground). It’s complicated.
Color is not easy. Every situation is different and allot goes into choices from tastes to architecture to existing decor and more. I’m glad to give you my opinions about your specific situation, but I’d need to see the space and have a discussion with you. I welcome you to book a virtual consultation with me at intro.co/garrettlechic The available times you see are already in your time zone.
Arden is precious. My King Charles is my best friend. Thank you for refreshing my mind. I have a small home. Previously I had a 5000 square foot home. So, it’s hard to decorate! I am listening to your recommendations.
Thanks for sharing!! Cavaliers are awesome and very beautiful. Our English Bulldog loves him too. Arden is in his puppy adolescence so he is very sweet, but quite rambunctious at times. We love him so much, and he has fit so well into our life and family.
Is Arden looking more like you? Or are you looking more like Arden? He is precious! Love your many great tips on how to achieve a cohesive look in the home.
Thanks for watching! Both he and Cornealius are in their daily nap period when we are filming so they are both a bit sleepy at that time, but other times during the day are very active with them especially in Arden’s case.
I have allergies too, and I think in the scheme of great design drapes are worth the maintenance. The truth is most everything can become a dust magnet and will collect dust if not maintained. However, everyone has to decide what’s important to them and what they do want to maintain. I respect that, and what ultimately people decide to do with their homes.
A very good evening Garrett, Thank you for the beautiful vlog. Really liked it, so rightly put about storage and declutter and that whether small or big house we do need things, but since I was doing all of that for the upcoming fest am thinking human beings and their needs 😬🤪 And mind you I am minimalistic🙃 The talk on colour was so so good. Arden your paws are sooooooo cute, touchwood. Mushy cuddles to the soon to be 1 boy♥️ You have a wonderful weekend and I am going to snooze and oh btw I am done with all of the mega house jobs and I will be back with you in routine:) Nigh Nigh🤗🥰
Thanks for sharing! I hope you are enjoying getting ready for the festival. It’s nice of you to still take time to watch the videos. Have a great week!🐶🐶
My dog skates my living room rug across the floor when she gets the zoomies. The furniture moves, too. My living room sofa reminds me of your studio sofa. I had to put a protector on it to protect it from my cat who likes to sharpen his claws on it to get my attention. My dog loves snuggles. Arden not so much.
I Love you Garrett your information is LeChic, I love your new baby, he is adorable. I bought a home that has a family room/TV room that is a large addition, they put paneling on the walls, I have people say they love it, haven't done anything to it, I painted the whole house white all the way through, the paneling just feels disjointed, the house is built around a huge red brick fireplace, do I leave the paneling, or paint it the same color as the rest of the walls? I know it's difficult without seeing it. I guess it's something I need to live with, then decide
Thanks so much, and thank you for sharing! I would have to see it and the home to give my opinions. I’m glad to and welcome you to book a consultation at intro.co/garrettlechic All available times are already displayed in your time zone.
Ok, I will be booking an appointment with you. So I am thinking ahead and want to be prepared. My stuff will be moving into the houseboat and I will be sending you pictures ahead of time. Stuff that needs to be hung on the walls will not be hung, but waiting for your input. So two questions. #1 Do you follow up with a print out of colors to paint or some other things you suggest? #2 I live alone so should I have a handy man join me so I can listen and chat and he can mark out what needs to be hung etc? I am waiting for a crane and a barge to be available to bring her 300 miles to my new berth. Excited and nervous, this is a big adventure.
Hi Gina! I would just recommend having a notebook to take notes. The sessions are of course very informative, but also casual and relaxed. I take my time with people working through everything. Please keep in mind that depending on how much you want to do decorating wise, we might not be able to accomplish everything in one consultation. I can’t really tell until I see the space and have a discussion with you. I know moving and particularly the logistics in your situation is not easy and I hope you can find some time to relax.
@@GarrettLeChic Definitely going to take more than one visit. Not even thinking about the 2nd floor. And instead of hanging stuff up where it was, going to stack it and wait for your advice. I think I will hire a handy man to be able to mark where stuff needs to go, on the walls. I will be sending pictures ahead of time. And yes moving is always stressful. This is the first time in a series of life adventures I have decided to move my house to my new location. I have learned so much in the last year about this process. I need to repaint the walls but that will wait until I meet with you. It is very comforting to know I can book with you and you will tell me where and what, so I can relax on musing about where to place things. I have been wrilting down things I want to ask your opinion about. Thank you for being here. I enjoy other decorators but you are my style of doing things and having the same taste in a lot of furniture.
Thanks
That’s very sweet! Thanks so much.

Great ideas. I am going to use the furniture layout ideas. 🌸

I love nice drapery however I have severe allergies. Drapes are dust magnets and a hassle to maintain 😕

Arden is true to his breed - Cavalier indeed.
Yes, he’s a great example of his breed, and a sweet loving member of our family. We all love and adore him very much!🐶

Since Cavaliers are generally considered to be one of the most elegant and beautiful breeds that’s a great compliment!🐶🐶
