Excellent video. Everything is very clearly eplained, and every concept demoed in multiple settings to show the difference, and all in a concise 12+ video.
Thank you so much for this video, Mark! I believe, this is the most comprehensive class on studio lighting I've ever seen. The mistakes section makes its value skyrocket. Many thanks again!
Mark, thank you for this wonderful video! It confirms that my portrait separation skills are on point but can be tweaked a little more. Your video trainings are so helpful!! Again, thank you!
I see that the strip box is positioned to light up the model on the same side as the main light. I was wondering why not place the separating light on the side that is more in shadow? Is it because it would look less natural to have it coming from the opposite side of the main light? In what circumstance would you recommend choosing to place the strip box on the opposite side?
Sorry for my question ? I could'nt understand well. For back light , we should decrease or increase the light ? Because all of them were well and accetable 😁
Even with such detailed instructions, it’s really hard to capture the exact same picture. A single step left or right, or a slight movement of the models head, and the photo will be ruined.
Ngl I don't like that he portrayed allot of these as negative, it's just a different look, the reason people hire you as a photographer is to get your look, not for you to follow a "recipe" and get a portrait that looks the same as every other photographer smh 🤦♂️
"Basic approach to Separation Light" Perfect.
As the word Academy in the channel group implies. Pure education.
How does this not have more views, thank you for the information.

Probably one of the best tutorials I've seen.
Showing examples of what 'not' to do and seeing those results was very helpful.
Thank you!
