Love your Porsche add! I know you can get a decent paint from 2X by doing mist coats and wet sanding. This should be interesting. 😎👍

I used what I call "Hardware store" paints for decades, But over the past 4-5 years I don't use them on bodies anymore. Several reasons: 1: Some cans say gloss on the can, then you spray it, and it's matte. 2: You don't know what kind of paint it is - the can does not say most of the time. Enamel? Acrylic? A hybrid of the two? 3: Most of them give a model body high and low spots no matter how you spray it. Granted I've used some successfully but it's to rare. When people say they are cheaper they are comparing a $ 8.00 big Duplicolor can to a $ 14.00 Tamiya short can. There is no place near me to walk in and get Tamiya paint so I have to order them online - paint plus shipping $$. This year I plan on going to airbrush full time. I have a booth, compressor and two old airbrushes that suck but I think I just need a good new realy good airbrush LOL (note - always test that generic paint (and later with your clear) on a plastic spoon !!! ) 🙂

I used test spoons alot. And I haven’t painted a body with “hardware store” paints in years either. But it should be a fun little test/experiment. I am 99% airbrush now. I use Tamiya ts cans occasionally for odds and ends.
