Overrated? They're one of the most famous hard rock bands of the 70s, that really doesn't qualify as overrated. If you personally think they should have been even bigger that still isn't really the same thing.

@@erikthompson619 I said they are underrated. Yes in the 70’s you didn’t here much about UFO it was Zeppelin Sabbath, Maiden, Priest you rarely heard about them. This was a cover recorded in 1996 w/ Blaze Bayley as the singer or Iron Maiden... The original song was by British rock band U.F.O. and they were a huge influence on Maiden... Iron Maiden still use the original 'Doctor doctor' song as an entrance at their concerts before they come onstage.
U.F.O. was from the 70's and had some success and were hugely influential on hard rock music... but they didn't get the massive commercial success that bands like Black Sabbath and Deep Purple enjoyed... U.F.O. had 2 albums out, but they became a hard rock band by 1974 when Scorpions' lead guitarist Michael Schenker joined U.F.O. and recorded the 3rd album 'Phenomenon'... w/ fan faves 'Rock bottom'... 'Doctor doctor'... 6th album 'Lights out' in 1977 was a landmark hit w/ the songs 'Lights out'... 'Too hot to handle'... U.F.O. had their famous line-up: Phil Mogg (vocals), Michael Schenker (lead guitar), Pete Way (bass), Andy Parker (drums) and Paul Raymond (keyboards/ guitar)...
However, after the live album 'Strangers in the night' in 1979, Michael Schenker quit the band and briefly rejoined the Scorpions before leaving to form his own band M.S.G. (Michael Schenker Group) in the 80's... U.F.O. became obsolete afterwards, but kept going w/ new members.
The classic U.F.O. did reunite in the 90's w/ Michael Schenker, but he quit again by 2003... Vinnie Moore (lead guitar) joined on 2004 and U.F.O. has been active since... But the deaths of longtime members- bassist Pete Way, keyboardist Paul Raymond, and ex-guitarist Paul Chapman ... and vocalist Phil Mogg announcing his retirement and suffering health problems afterwards suggest that U.F.O. might be done.
Iron Maiden's bassist Steve Harris is a huge U.F.O. fan and his playing was influenced by (late) bassist Pete Way, who had that style of galloping rhythms that Iron Maiden is famous for... Metallica's lead guitarist Kirk Hammett is a huge fan of Michael Schenker and claimed he learned all of his guitar solos in U.F.O.

Not that it isn't a good cover, but IMO this is kind of disservice to both Iron Maiden & UFO as far as trying to explore both bands. This was recorded with Iron Maiden vocalist Blaze Bayley who was the band's 3rd vocalist (as far as recorded output), replacing Bruce Dickinson from 1994-1999.
Some must listen Maiden would be Running Free, Phantom Of The Opera, Iron Maiden, Prowler, Remember Tomorrow Killer, Wrathchild, Hallowed Be They Name, Children Of The Damned, Number Of The Beast, The Prisoner, Where Eagles Dare, Revelations, Die With Your Boots On, To Tame A Land, Flight Of Icarus, Still Life, Powerslave, Two Minutes To Midnight.

Who have been singers for Iron Maiden?
While Bruce Dickinson is the longest serving vocalist for Iron Maiden, Paul Di'Anno recorded the band's self-titled and Killers albums, and Blaze Bayley recorded the The X Factor and Virtual XI albums during his tenure.
The Number of the Beast is the third studio album by English heavy metal band Iron Maiden. It was released on 22 March 1982 in the United Kingdom by EMI Records and in the United States by Harvest and Capitol Records. The album was their first to feature vocalist Bruce Dickinson and their last with drummer Clive Burr RIP.

Great song choice. This song has some history. Created in 1974 by English hard rock band UFO, the song was written by band members Phil Mogg (singer) and guitarist Michael Schenker (18 at the time). Schenker's guitar playing is a key feature of this song. It has been covered by many including the Michael Schenker Group (naturally) and the Scorpions (which includes Michaels brother Rudolf Schenker).
You might enjoy watching a version with guitarist Michael Schenker in it. UFO (very old) ruclips.net/video/-16KJkJA5Bo/видео.html or MSG: ruclips.net/video/hcpTnV2SP6s/видео.html

This is a cover of a UFO song that was a vehicle for the incomparable Michael Schencker to show off his skills (Michael’s older brother Rudolph formed Scorpions and Michael was lead guitarist their first album when he was 15 years old). Michael and his countryman Uli Roth were major influences on Maiden, Van Halen, and other huge bands that you react to

This is a cover by Iron Maiden (1995). The original recording is by "UFO" (a MUST listen to) in 1974 and then covered by "Michael Schenker Group" in 1981/82. Iron Maiden rocks it, but credit where credit is do.

As others have said, check out UFO, especially Stanger's In the Night, one of the greatest live rock albums ever released. Recommend Rock Bottom or Lights Out. Maiden always play the UFO original of Doctor Doctor before they hit the stage ! you will love Strangers In The Night !!

  • @sebastianschilling7337
    @sebastianschilling7337 Год назад +2

The fun thing about this cover (the original is from UFO, out of the “strangers in the night album”), is that is an all time favourite song from the guys at Iron Maiden. So they play the original song on the PA every show before going on stage. It is great to see the crowd go absolutely bananas as soon as the song hits, because everybody knows that the Iron Maiden show is just about to start! 😂
Speaking of Iron Maiden live, I think it is time to see why even today they are one of the best rock/metal live performers of all time. My pick is “Fear of the Dark” from the album En Vivo! (Recorded here in Chile 🇨🇱 😊) cheers!!

Well, technically "Doctor doctor" is not from the "Strangers in the night" album, because the latter's a live album. The original version appears on "Phenomenon", UFO's third studio album and their first with Michael Schenker, released in 1974.
