So rather than being a game about choice and consequence like some other rpgs, Cyberpunk is a game entirely about worldbuilding. And I firmly believe that was a deliberate, artistic choice the devs made, not a mistake, not a missed opportunity, and not an oversight. A design choice. I think it worked out very well for them, and carved out a unique niche in the gaming space.
I agree but I also can’t blame people for wanting more choice. It’s not impossible to give us both. The better the world building is, the more I have the desire to role play and experience that world through as many eyes as possible.
I feel Phantom Liberty is a way for the developers to show that they CAN make a good Cyberpunk game and that given enough time, the world could be more like phantom liberty. I wouldn't mind waiting until 2077 for the sequel as long as it's as good or better than Phantom Liberty.
Hey, I just wanted to tell you that im thankful for that "loveletter to Cyberpunk" video you made. I know I am late but I just got it recommended and its literaly the best video on the subject I've seen. I was really touched. Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us.
Thats kind of the entire point of the setting though. No matter how big a badass V can be, no matter how large his legend, no matter how powerful V becomes... V cannot change Night City. The City persists as it always had. The impact doesn't come from being able to change the world. The impact comes from how we perceive our choices. The way our actions do not meaningfully change the city, but merely alters the course of just a few individual's life, adds to the cyberounk dystopia, to the pervading hopelessness underneath the lights of the city's skyscrapers.
Remember when All the RUclipsrs where saying Edge Runners saved Cyberpunk 2077 , which is good but didn't really make sense because it's ultimately experience is not even in the game but at least Phantom Liberty is apart of the game and makes more sense when saying it saved the game

See this is where I think the base game is far too big for it's own good. There's this huge map with generally very little in it! Outside of the gigs etc there's not really anything to do. GTA for example, allowa you to just vibe if you want. You can go to a bar and shoot some pool, go bowling, play golf etc etc. The fixers gigs are repetitive, along with the NCPD mission, there's just way too many of those! Again it's something PL does better, the Dogtown Gigs, whilst they are still "Go here, steal X, upload X or kill X" they have much more body to them and more interesting plots. The facility where the chrome kids up for sports for example. PL dives into what makes the world interesting to be in, in the first place. We get more backstory to Songbird in one expansion than we do for Johnny, despite playing as him twice in flashbacks! Ok you need to side with Reed to see her backstory, but still. PL gives you a lot of choices during it's story. The hardest being Killing songbird or not. That was frankly heart breaking letting her live, but I had to, because I wanted to get the new ending.
Have you really explored the world? I mean I kinda get what you are saying, but at the same, on my 200hours playthrough I encounter ton of hidden things to do, things that the game doesn't tell you until you in certain specific place, for example there is unique clothing all over the badlands, you just need to walk and walk there. The game rewards your curiosity and explorer soul. I took the same path, the Reed's one. And after witnessing all the flashbacks from Songbird life. I just couldnt help to feel emphaty for her, so I just choosed to hugg her and grant her wish and euthanized Songbird. Becoming a slave to the system and reduced to being a tool for the goverment is something that neither V nor Johnny could stand for, even if she lied and tricked V. The last conversation with Johnny about the whole thing, with “Never Fade Away” coincidentally playing in the background, was just icing on the cake.
I blitzed through the story/main side missions in about 55 hours on my first run/watched the tv show, (I bought the game for the first time this month). As soon as I finished I decided to do a 100% completion run as a different build straight after. I usually don't even like open-world games, the lore/world building here is something else.
The problem with CyberPunk 2077 is that I choose the dialogue and option that leads me to the iconic weapons, clothing, and vehicles. I hate regret and point of no return in video games. Losing out on experimenting on certain weapons because they were missable makes me avoid certain dialogue choices which is bad game design. I REALLY wanted to play this game blind, but due to the missables I feel forced to looking up a guide and being spoiled so I didn't miss out on certain weapons and items in the choice branch.
Not everything appears in the black market. You can miss an iconic in Phantom Liberty DLC and it won't appear in the Black Market. Only iconic guns from the vanilla game appear in the Black Market. @@miekamariehodson1731
Why on earth would you ruin your first play through by worrying about missable stuff that is always there waiting for you on your second play through. Realistically you’re going to want to come back and try different builds eventually anyways.
Yeah I don't have time to get a second playthrough in, also the save system sucks in this game. It is inferior to Elden Ring, Hogwarts Legacy, Starfield, etc, because there are no character save partitions. @@nuh-uhbro765

Except it didn’t in some stuff the endings it gives are basically icky
You can't blame the game for calling you a dingus for siding with Hanako
I blitzed through the story/main side missions in about 55 hours on my first run/watched the tv show, (I bought the game for the first time this month). As soon as I finished I decided to do a 100% completion run as a different build straight after. I usually don't even like open-world games, the lore/world building here is something else.
As a fan of cyberpunk, it's honestly mid, it's sad to see that's the last dlc we are getting.
whos gameplay is in the bg cuz i def seen it before
just hate the fact its the only DLC
😂😂😂😂
"Saved"?
It was already top notch. It's just better now.
Not anymore because of the black market
Seemed to master their engine with the expansion just to ditch it for unreal engine. Disappointing imo
Honestly this was still a faliure of a game, could of been truly great but was ruined by its trash launch, It was gonna have way more than just one dlc lml
jfc you people are sad this dlc is mediocre at best
I actually didn't like phantom liberty story, kinda meh.
After 2.0 my OP V wasn't OP, then 3 levels later y was OP again.
