    They should honestly change +100 to under -136kg or something. Teddy has both height and WEIGHT advantage. Naturally he has a better chance of winning.

      Why are you all so salty that he's actually good at competition judo and making excuses for his victories ? If it was natural advantage, wouldn't any man his size be capable of having his record ? Guess what... That isn't the case, lol.
      I would agree with complaints about his semifinal against Krpalek (Krpalek's second shido was unwarranted and perhaps pressured him into fighting sub-optimal) but this final against Harasawa was clean.
      By the way, height is not an advantage in judo. It is against Harasawa specifically because his specialty is uchi mata, but that's a matchup thing. On the other hand, weight could be an advantage, but first off, Teddy is not the heaviest at all (compare him to Silva for example) and I'm pretty sure he is not above 136kg. Second, it's not that much of an advantage in this weight class, as Tushishvili, Krpalek, Naidan and others have proved. (Also Wolf who won the openweight All Japan as a usual -100 !)

      @@ry5116 only time height is a disadvantage is when your opponent is good at seoi otoshi or koshi waza. Ojitani, Kageura and Naidan are good at Seoi Otoshi but they are simply not strong enough. No one in heavy weight is good at Koshi waza.
      Krpalek's specialty is Tomoe but it may be the case that Krpalek is not strong enough or Riner is heavy or both.
      Tushisvilli is the best bet on beating Riner but im willing to bet Riner is heavier than him.
      Height is an advanatge beacuse u can dominate the collar grip. Just ask Daria Bilodid.

      @@ry5116 "wouldn't any man his size be capable of having his record"
      Hahaha, what, you think that's rhetorical? My answer to that is yes, absolutely.
      Name any other judokas that are his size from a judo powerhouse country like France.
      I'll wait.
      And I do think yes, if you find any other man that was 6'8" and 300 lbs and give him a bit of training, he'd do just as well as Riner.
      You think I wouldn't say that? I am saying that right now.
      It's not an excuse because from any match of him, attacks don't work against him not because of positioning or counters, he just doesn't move because he's so much bigger, heavier, and stronger.
      Height is absolutely an advantage when you have the weight to go with it. It's not like he's a 6'8" and 200 lb stick. He's 6'8 300 lbs.

    Has Teddy Riner ever gone against someone who is actually his size? There was perfect form and control on the Uchimata that Hisayoshi attempted.. but all Riner had to do was.. well.. nothing, because he's got a 15 KG and 13cm height advantage...

    • @nomoremrniceguy368
      @nomoremrniceguy368 5 лет назад +5

      Uchimata is never working against him. It has to be tai otoshi. Get right under him!

    • @miguelespejel2462
      @miguelespejel2462 5 лет назад +10

      your saying that a perfect move was not effective against a heavier/stronger opponent is insulting judo itself since this is against its very own philosophy. I rather believe that the technique was not perfect as you claim.

      @bigcatfb Part of Judo (and all other budo forms) Is respect. That should extend to anyone enjoying it on any level be it competitor, spectator , recreational participant or otherwise. Mr. Riners way of doing it clearly works for him. But that can well be boring to watch for some. One is not stupid for finding his style boring that is personal opnion and says nothing about how they vieuw the guy in any other way, one could be seen however as "stupid" (though i would prefer other terms) for assuming the other finds it boring means that he does not understand why.... Nobody said Mr. Riner is at fault. How could you the results speak for themselves. It is just not very pretty to look at in some people's opinion.

    I hope someone can enlighten me. I did judo about 40 years ago. In those days in a match if you went to the ground you continued on the ground. These competitors break off every time they go to ground?

    • @vittocrazi
      @vittocrazi 5 лет назад

      because they break you if competitors show no intent on continuing the fight on the ground. the japanede didnt attack, and the french didnt either. also happens that lots of heavyweights just hate ne waza, so they usually stand them up because they wont do a thing anyway.

    • @vittocrazi
      @vittocrazi 5 лет назад

      if you watch teddys fight against lukas krpalek, you will see a little more ground fighting. but still not much since riner really doesnt play ne waza and has a good defense.

    I IF rules give the advantage to the bigger judoka. The number of attacks , not foot faint, was 6 to 1 at the halve way point yet only one shido was given to the judoka not attacking! If a judoka can use stalling tactic by their physical size and not be panelized, why not! Today's judoka's use the rules to their advantage, don't fault the judoka . There are rules and penalties for false attacks and stalling, in force them.
