My ak90 reads the ews properly and my original bmw key tests fine. However, when I try to write to the new PCF7931AS transponder it prompts a “Write Error” every time. Any ideas on what may cause this?
Thanks for the great video. Want to add that in my case, the plug to the ews board was somehow mismarked and after cleaning the pins to within a mike-mike of their individual little lives, out of frustration I turned the plug sideways 45º so that the arrow inside pointed to 9:00 from the little embossed dot. It made no sense and did not jive with any other instructional videos I watched, but it worked perfectly after that. Hopefully this may help someone else who was getting the incessant PIN No Touch! error.
the PCF7935AA ID44 seams to be difficult to purchase at moment, can other ID's chip work ?? what is the difference between for example ID44 and ID46? Thanx

So when you wrote the “new” key in slot 10, it said it was used. So im guessing you wrote over a key that existed before?? 2nd question if I want to make 2 keys, do I need to use 2 slots??
Hello - Thank you for your question and your compliment. The AK90 works with EWS Modules from BMW and Mini Cooper all the same. The device does not know or care about the difference in vehicle.

once you download the data file from the EWS and save to you computer can you just use that file should you need to add a key or reprogram a key again? Do you need to disconnect the EWS and hook it up to the computer any time you wish to add a key?
Amazing video. Well prepared. Pleasure for the ears. I did everything as was told here. My pcf key was installed. When i first tested it - it told correctly that my key is installed in position 9. However, when I removed everything and tried again - suddenly ak90 recognizes my key as 86 instead od 9! It jusy does not work. Could it be that I need to use EML instead of PCF? And as a side-note. How do actually find all this information about your car? Thank you!
Hey huge thanks for this video. If you have a business email you can share I’d love to buy you guys a beer. 🍺 just programmed my first EWS4 key. The garbage Chinese no solder adapter to X90 didn’t work. Bought a second one, it didn’t work either. I took it apart and made a third one (first two were missing a layer of plastic so the hold down wouldn’t work) still didn’t work even after cleaning the conformal coating off and trying to align the pins. Busted out the ol weller soldering iron and soldered on the cable adapter. Pulled the bin file and with your video programmed the key. 🎉
Is it possible to reprogram a used OEM key? The remonte functions of my existing key do not work, but the battery is good so I’m thinking maybe it would be possible to swap internals from a working key and reprogram the chip.

Hi, great video. I carefully followed your instructions, but the software is stuck during Read EWS sequence. The screen shows 'Reading 0D46J(MCU)....Wait'. I tried turning off the computer to reboot and restart but it is not working. At first the screen showed an error 'PIN No Touch!', so I cleaned all the pins on all four sides of the chip and reattached the socket onto the chip. But the software is not completing the reading step. I cleaned the pins multiple times and also tried rotating the arrow inside to all four sides, but still the screen shows either PIN No touch! or Reading....Wait. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i know its been a while but form where did you get yours ? do you still have the link? iv' got 2 from amazon and 1 from aliexpress and none of them work. came to realize they're "fake" versions of the real one. the 3 that i got had no speaker and the letters from it are black instead of purple ish like yours. even tho the add / pic from the sellers ware purple. im lost with this and tired already. can you give me the link or just sent the ak90+ to me and id send it back to you??? i just dont realy want to spend almost 200euro for a knew key

Thank you for your question. Once you have programmed a key for one of these BMW Vehicles with your AK90 the remote portion of the key programs with an On-Board Procedure. This procedure is shown in many videos on RUclips.

Hello - Thank you for your comments. An EML Key is a Remote Head Key that has a rechargable battery which is charged by the vehicle. A PCF Key is just a standard transponder key without a remote head.

Hello. Thanks for your very elaborate video. I have watched a lot of them but none was on point like yours. I am having a problem here. Everything goes as planned until it is time to write the key. It processes all the way to 100% then verify then I get a very disappointing "write error" message. It does the same no matter if I use EML or tranaponder 7930/35. I have an EML (aftermarket version of dealer key). Transponder PCF7935 previously read by Key tool Max. Preprogrammed key reads the same. I also tried a chil 7935 and i get the same error. Any idea? Assistance needed please.
Thank you for your question. From your description, it sounds like you have an issue with the AK90 Device or perhaps the AK90 Software. I would recommend that you try the process with your AK90 Device connected to a different PC. If this doesn't help I would communicate with the seller of the device and see if they can test or replace the AK90 Device.
@International Key Supply, LLC Thanks for your prompt reply; in fact, i spent a ridiculous amount of time Sunday insisting. I have 2 AK90 purchased from 2 different suppliers. The second one acted the same. Kept failing at the end of processing despite the chip type I was using. 1-Xt27 superchip set as an ID44 F7935=> NO WAY. 2- The 2 exclusive BMW PCF7935 purchased Later, I realized that it had written the info on #2 listed above when testing them. How did that happen? I don't know but I was not upset about it. I synchronized on the car just like you advised to and the car started. The remote.... I was never able to program it despite generating all the Mini cooper remote available. I was told "cycle acc & off, hold unlock and press lock 3 times" all within 10 sec. I gave up after 15 tries (procedure door locked and unlocked)
@@CBRRR-eh3ky We are glad that we can help you. I am not totally sure what your issue is. I have never tried to use a Super Chip in place of an Original 7935, in theory, this should work. I would try an original 7935 and see what happens anyway. As for the remote, the programming can be a bit tricky. Try varying the placement of the remote when pressing the buttons during programming. Thank you for your question. It sounds to me like you add the new key to the same position as the original key. If this is the case you will need to provide the customer with another key programmed to a different key position. There are other ways to do this but they all involve you providing the customer another key since you have two keys programmed to the same key position. Thanks again for your question.
My AK90 shipped but has no red dot on the EWS 2/3 ribbon. there is however a very small arrow inside the little box. Would my assumption be correct if I used it as that side being the forward?
Thank you for your question. We have seen a few of these sockets that left the factory without the red dot indicator. The arrow that you mentioned can be used as an Indicator, but the arrow does not point to where the Red Dot should be. If you view the socket from the bottom where you can see the contacts and then place the arrow pointing right, you would make the Red Dot on the top of your socket. Thanks again for your question.
@@KeyInnovationsWholesale I resolved it by turning it each way until I no longer got the "pin no touch" message then marked it. I successfully coded the key. My only problem is it locks and unlocks but has none of the press and hold features. I'm suspecting its because the remote won't do it. It's a blank flip style key I got off Amazon with replaceable coin batteries.
After cutting a blank key will ignition turn? Or does the chip have to be programed to unlock steering to turn ignition to accessory or on position?? I have succefully writing the chip data onto a new chip. Copied key and it turns all locks except ignition smoothly. I tried writing over existing used key and also tried new position. I read the new chip and it has all the info from car onto it. But I’m having trouble writing it back to ews cause after write key then try to write back to ews. When I read ews it doesn’t have new key position
Thank you for your question. On this vehicle, and almost all transponder equipped bladed key vehicles, the transponder programming has nothing to do with key rotation. If you have the proper cuts on the key, even if the transponder isn't programmed, the key will turn the lock cylinder.

Software installed and I was able to read the EWS and test an original BMW key successfully. When I try to write a new key (same frequency) I get a "write error!" message after it shows 100% complete and it doesn't show the new key in the slot that I chose. I re-installed the EWS in the vehicle and the new key will start the car but cannot be programmed to lock/unlock the doors. Any suggestions?
Thank you for taking a moment to comment on our video. I am not sure why you are getting a "Write Error" message. If the key starts the vehicle then the transponder writing was successful. Disregard this "Write Error" message since we know it is incorrect. The transponder that you programmed will not show up in the Key Slot until the EWS Module is reinstalled in the vehicle, the vehicle is started with the transponder you produced, and then the EWS Module is removed and read again. As for the remote programming, this is done on board. Sometimes these remotes can be difficult to program. Vary the position that you hold the remote and try the programming process several times.
Very helpful video. After installing drivers, I am getting to the "Reading 2L86D(Cable) ......Wait" but it just stays at that stage (@ the 12:17 mark in video). Using the smaller cable for ews-4.3 soldered to ews. Any help or suggestions appreciated!

i just bough one and when i plug it in i do not receive a beep from the ak90+. it is unable to detect that is is plugged in despite the correct software installed. however i do get a noise from my pc when i plug in the usb device so it recognizes it as plugged in. plz help i cannot find anybody else with this same issue.
Thank you for your question. Most likely the Memory Device needs additional cleaning. If this isn't the cause of your issue, please make sure the socket is placed in the correct orientation on the Memory Device and then try to put slight down pressure on the socket during reading.
great video and tried to write my key using this walkthrough. I was able to get the BIN file and I test the Key, but whenever I click Write Key, it give me "EWS data is error". Do you happened to know the possible solution to this? Thanks in advance for your help.
Thank you for your comment and question. It sounds to me like the Dump/Bin File is corrupt. I would try to read the Memory Device again and see if you get the same error.
Can I ask you, will the AK90+ charge the battery in the key when the key is placed within the AK90+ ? Or will keys only charge in the ignition of the car?
Hello - Thank you for your question. The AK90 does not have the option to charge an EML Key. You can use the Xhorse Key Tool or Tango to perform this task.
Thank you for your question and your compliment. The AK90 will work with an EWS Module from a Land Rover but it will not work with a LEAR Module from a Land Rover. These LEAR Modules have a different memory device than an EWS Module.
Hello nice video. Could you please clear some mistery under my new key programming issue. So i read EWS with AK90+ but VIN number on dump file doesint match with my cars... Its says WBAFL_9280OZ35CA5 that space after letter "L" doesint look as a full VIN refering to "_" sign.. And if i ignor that "_" still my cars VIN is different... COuld it mean that EWS is not from this car or is it a bad DUMP? Thank you
Thank you for your comment and question. If your vehicle is running then I would say the EWS matches the vehicle and the reason why the VIN is wrong in the dump is that the read is incorrect. If the vehicle isn't currently running then the EWS might not match the vehicle.

And i noticed one thing regarding ak90+ cabel/socket that clips on ews chip to read it. On top of it there is red dot if i understand it correct it is pointer for user to know which way it goes, but inside that broen connectore there is an arrow my guess it does the same thing as red dot on top? Why i ask becouse on my cable red dot on top and arrow in socket doesnt aline, maybe thats the issue? And car runs fine, it's just i have one key for it. Thank you

Hey alex, go to the control panel and find driver "Silicon Labs CP210XUSB to UART Bridge". Change the port number to 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 and retest. It worked on port 1 with mine. (You will get an error message for using a port that is already in use. Ignore it.)
Thank you for your comments and question about our video. The AK90+ is not capable of programming keys to any version of CAS4 no matter what claims you find online. There are plenty of other programmers that will perform these jobs but the AK90 isn't one of them. Take a look at the IM608, VVDI Key Tool Plus, or ACDP Mini to name a few.

Do you need to write back to the EWS after programming the key? I have tried multiple times with no luck. I read the EWS and write a key but the new key fails to start the vehicle every time.
You do not need to write the file back. Insert the programmed key into the Ignition once you have verified the vehicle’s battery is fully charged. Turn the key on and do not try to start the vehicle. Leave the key on for 1 minute. Turn the key off and remove it. Wait 30 seconds, reinsert the key, turn it on, and start the vehicle.
@@mahmoodahmed4050 I was able to make it work. My problem was the chips that were sent with the keys I ordered from Amazon. The chips had no part number or anything stamped on them. They would not allow me to start my vehicle after being programmed. I then ordered two new PCF7935AA chips from Ebay. These new chips programmed and started my vehicle on the first try. Note: The PCF7935AA is the proper chip for my vehicle, a 2005 BMW X3 (E83). Your vehicle may require a different chip if that is your problem.
I have same issue and I searched many places and I found that if you write the key in new positions unwritten before, then you need to write the EWS back and even analyze it, but if you write the key on solt 1 or 2 or any used slot then you don't need to as per what I checked but I tried the easy way which is second plan but it fails ,that's why I am trying to write the EWS back now

Hello Anony Mous. There is no need to write any information back to the EWS Module. Read the EWS Module, write the data to the transponder, reinstall the Module, and then start the vehicle. I have never tried to write data back to the EWS Module with AK90 because there is not a need. Try what I have recommended and I think you will be pleasantly surprised. I'm getting error Invalid Port Number on the laptop that I want to work with it (Win 7), on my personal laptop (Win 10) it connects without a problem. I followed the same stepts on each laptop. Any idee why am I getting the invalid port number error?
Thank you for your question. I am not sure what you have happening here. My guess would be that you have a com port conflict, something like two devices trying to use the same port number. Check in your Device Manager and see if you are able to find any additional information here.

Thank you for your question. The answer is it would depend on the Immo System in this Range Rover. If the vehicle has a true EWS System then the AK90 would work. But if the vehicle has a LEAR Module the AK90 will not work and you would then need another EPROM programming device.
Hello - The AK90 Software works fine on XP but I have never tried using it on a Windows 10 Machine that has virtualized before. Give it a try and I think that it will work. Thanks for your question.

Thank you for taking a minute to comment on our video. This error happens when you do not have a good connection to the Memory Device. You need to clean the legs of the Memory Device really well. If this cleaning doesn't help the reading of the Memory Device, try to hold a little downward pressure on the socket while attempting to read the Memory Device.
Hello - Windows 10 as an OS with the AK90 Software is difficult to say the least. Most likely Microsoft Security Essentials is causing your issue. You can try to disable Microsoft Security Essentials and give it another go. It is not impossible to make this work but even when you do get it to work it will not be as stable as using the AK90 Software on a Windows 7 PC.
sorry to hear you're having trouble. I installed my software on win 10 and it worked perfectly fine from the first time. Drivers installed automatically, not a single issue.
This presentation is a bit longer, but not in the least long-winded. All relevant aspects of the key programming are included in the presentation, and nothing superfluous or unrelated is presented. If you want to become semi-professional in programming earlier-model BMW keys, this video will make you that semi-professional, and the investment is only about 17 minutes or so.
Hello - From your description it is a bit hard to tell what your issue is, I have seen this error when a customer uses the wrong type of transponders. Please make sure you are using a BMW EML Remote Key or a 7935. What laptop should we use? I have one with Windows 10 64bit, is this a problem for installation?

This ak90, work only with bmw key?...or it is good for other brands(mercedes, Volskwagen, opel...)...?!!!

Hello - Thank you for your comments. An EML Key is a Remote Head Key that has a rechargable battery which is charged by the vehicle. A PCF Key is just a standard transponder key without a remote head.
So like aftermarket keys would be PCF right? Keys you would buy off of Amazon or eBay

Hello. Thanks for your very elaborate video. I have watched a lot of them but none was on point like yours. I am having a problem here. Everything goes as planned until it is time to write the key.
It processes all the way to 100% then verify then I get a very disappointing "write error" message. It does the same no matter if I use EML or tranaponder 7930/35.
I have an EML (aftermarket version of dealer key). Transponder PCF7935 previously read by Key tool Max. Preprogrammed key reads the same.
I also tried a chil 7935 and i get the same error.
Any idea? Assistance needed please.
Thank you for your question. From your description, it sounds like you have an issue with the AK90 Device or perhaps the AK90 Software. I would recommend that you try the process with your AK90 Device connected to a different PC. If this doesn't help I would communicate with the seller of the device and see if they can test or replace the AK90 Device.
@International Key Supply, LLC Thanks for your prompt reply; in fact, i spent a ridiculous amount of time Sunday insisting. I have 2 AK90 purchased from 2 different suppliers. The second one acted the same. Kept failing at the end of processing despite the chip type I was using.
1-Xt27 superchip set as an ID44 F7935=> NO WAY.
2- The 2 exclusive BMW PCF7935 purchased
Later, I realized that it had written the info on #2 listed above when testing them. How did that happen? I don't know but I was not upset about it.
I synchronized on the car just like you advised to and the car started.
The remote.... I was never able to program it despite generating all the Mini cooper remote available.
I was told "cycle acc & off, hold unlock and press lock 3 times" all within 10 sec.
I gave up after 15 tries (procedure door locked and unlocked)
@@CBRRR-eh3ky We are glad that we can help you. I am not totally sure what your issue is. I have never tried to use a Super Chip in place of an Original 7935, in theory, this should work. I would try an original 7935 and see what happens anyway. As for the remote, the programming can be a bit tricky. Try varying the placement of the remote when pressing the buttons during programming. Thank you for your question. It sounds to me like you add the new key to the same position as the original key. If this is the case you will need to provide the customer with another key programmed to a different key position. There are other ways to do this but they all involve you providing the customer another key since you have two keys programmed to the same key position. Thanks again for your question.
My AK90 shipped but has no red dot on the EWS 2/3 ribbon. there is however a very small arrow inside the little box.
Would my assumption be correct if I used it as that side being the forward?
Thank you for your question. We have seen a few of these sockets that left the factory without the red dot indicator. The arrow that you mentioned can be used as an Indicator, but the arrow does not point to where the Red Dot should be. If you view the socket from the bottom where you can see the contacts and then place the arrow pointing right, you would make the Red Dot on the top of your socket. Thanks again for your question.
@@KeyInnovationsWholesale I resolved it by turning it each way until I no longer got the "pin no touch" message then marked it. I successfully coded the key. My only problem is it locks and unlocks but has none of the press and hold features. I'm suspecting its because the remote won't do it. It's a blank flip style key I got off Amazon with replaceable coin batteries.
After cutting a blank key will ignition turn? Or does the chip have to be programed to unlock steering to turn ignition to accessory or on position??
I have succefully writing the chip data onto a new chip. Copied key and it turns all locks except ignition smoothly. I tried writing over existing used key and also tried new position. I read the new chip and it has all the info from car onto it. But I’m having trouble writing it back to ews cause after write key then try to write back to ews. When I read ews it doesn’t have new key position
Thank you for your question. On this vehicle, and almost all transponder equipped bladed key vehicles, the transponder programming has nothing to do with key rotation. If you have the proper cuts on the key, even if the transponder isn't programmed, the key will turn the lock cylinder.

Software installed and I was able to read the EWS and test an original BMW key successfully. When I try to write a new key (same frequency) I get a "write error!" message after it shows 100% complete and it doesn't show the new key in the slot that I chose. I re-installed the EWS in the vehicle and the new key will start the car but cannot be programmed to lock/unlock the doors. Any suggestions?
Thank you for taking a moment to comment on our video. I am not sure why you are getting a "Write Error" message. If the key starts the vehicle then the transponder writing was successful. Disregard this "Write Error" message since we know it is incorrect. The transponder that you programmed will not show up in the Key Slot until the EWS Module is reinstalled in the vehicle, the vehicle is started with the transponder you produced, and then the EWS Module is removed and read again. As for the remote programming, this is done on board. Sometimes these remotes can be difficult to program. Vary the position that you hold the remote and try the programming process several times.

Very helpful video. After installing drivers, I am getting to the "Reading 2L86D(Cable) ......Wait" but it just stays at that stage (@ the 12:17 mark in video). Using the smaller cable for ews-4.3 soldered to ews. Any help or suggestions appreciated!

Will this work for dodge keys?
i just bough one and when i plug it in i do not receive a beep from the ak90+. it is unable to detect that is is plugged in despite the correct software installed. however i do get a noise from my pc when i plug in the usb device so it recognizes it as plugged in. plz help i cannot find anybody else with this same issue.

Thank you for your question. Most likely the Memory Device needs additional cleaning. If this isn't the cause of your issue, please make sure the socket is placed in the correct orientation on the Memory Device and then try to put slight down pressure on the socket during reading.

Thank you for your comment and question. It sounds to me like the Dump/Bin File is corrupt. I would try to read the Memory Device again and see if you get the same error.

Hello - Thank you for your question. The AK90 does not have the option to charge an EML Key. You can use the Xhorse Key Tool or Tango to perform this task.

Thank you for your question and your compliment. The AK90 will work with an EWS Module from a Land Rover but it will not work with a LEAR Module from a Land Rover. These LEAR Modules have a different memory device than an EWS Module.

Hello nice video. Could you please clear some mistery under my new key programming issue. So i read EWS with AK90+ but VIN number on dump file doesint match with my cars... Its says WBAFL_9280OZ35CA5 that space after letter "L" doesint look as a full VIN refering to "_" sign.. And if i ignor that "_" still my cars VIN is different... COuld it mean that EWS is not from this car or is it a bad DUMP?

Thank you for your comment and question. If your vehicle is running then I would say the EWS matches the vehicle and the reason why the VIN is wrong in the dump is that the read is incorrect. If the vehicle isn't currently running then the EWS might not match the vehicle.

On top of it there is red dot if i understand it correct it is pointer for user to know which way it goes, but inside that broen connectore there is an arrow my guess it does the same thing as red dot on top? Why i ask becouse on my cable red dot on top and arrow in socket doesnt aline, maybe thats the issue?

Hey alex, go to the control panel and find driver "Silicon Labs CP210XUSB to UART Bridge". Change the port number to 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 and retest. It worked on port 1 with mine. (You will get an error message for using a port that is already in use. Ignore it.)

Thank you for your comments and question about our video. The AK90+ is not capable of programming keys to any version of CAS4 no matter what claims you find online. There are plenty of other programmers that will perform these jobs but the AK90 isn't one of them. Take a look at the IM608, VVDI Key Tool Plus, or ACDP Mini to name a few.

Do you need to write back to the EWS after programming the key? I have tried multiple times with no luck. I read the EWS and write a key but the new key fails to start the vehicle every time.
You do not need to write the file back. Insert the programmed key into the Ignition once you have verified the vehicle’s battery is fully charged. Turn the key on and do not try to start the vehicle. Leave the key on for 1 minute. Turn the key off and remove it. Wait 30 seconds, reinsert the key, turn it on, and start the vehicle.

@@mahmoodahmed4050 I was able to make it work. My problem was the chips that were sent with the keys I ordered from Amazon. The chips had no part number or anything stamped on them. They would not allow me to start my vehicle after being programmed. I then ordered two new PCF7935AA chips from Ebay. These new chips programmed and started my vehicle on the first try.
Note: The PCF7935AA is the proper chip for my vehicle, a 2005 BMW X3 (E83). Your vehicle may require a different chip if that is your problem.
I have same issue and I searched many places and I found that if you write the key in new positions unwritten before, then you need to write the EWS back and even analyze it, but if you write the key on solt 1 or 2 or any used slot then you don't need to as per what I checked but I tried the easy way which is second plan but it fails ,that's why I am trying to write the EWS back now

There is no need to write any information back to the EWS Module. Read the EWS Module, write the data to the transponder, reinstall the Module, and then start the vehicle.
I have never tried to write data back to the EWS Module with AK90 because there is not a need. Try what I have recommended and I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

I'm getting error Invalid Port Number on the laptop that I want to work with it (Win 7), on my personal laptop (Win 10) it connects without a problem. I followed the same stepts on each laptop. Any idee why am I getting the invalid port number error?
Thank you for your question. I am not sure what you have happening here. My guess would be that you have a com port conflict, something like two devices trying to use the same port number. Check in your Device Manager and see if you are able to find any additional information here.

Thank you for your question. The answer is it would depend on the Immo System in this Range Rover. If the vehicle has a true EWS System then the AK90 would work. But if the vehicle has a LEAR Module the AK90 will not work and you would then need another EPROM programming device.

Thank you for taking a minute to comment on our video. This error happens when you do not have a good connection to the Memory Device. You need to clean the legs of the Memory Device really well. If this cleaning doesn't help the reading of the Memory Device, try to hold a little downward pressure on the socket while attempting to read the Memory Device.

Using Windows 10, don't have the ability to use a 7 system, the software (3.19) does not even open!
Hello - Windows 10 as an OS with the AK90 Software is difficult to say the least. Most likely Microsoft Security Essentials is causing your issue. You can try to disable Microsoft Security Essentials and give it another go.
It is not impossible to make this work but even when you do get it to work it will not be as stable as using the AK90 Software on a Windows 7 PC.
sorry to hear you're having trouble. I installed my software on win 10 and it worked perfectly fine from the first time. Drivers installed automatically, not a single issue.
This presentation is a bit longer, but not in the least long-winded. All relevant aspects of the key programming are included in the presentation, and nothing superfluous or unrelated is presented. If you want to become semi-professional in programming earlier-model BMW keys, this video will make you that semi-professional, and the investment is only about 17 minutes or so.

Hello - From your description it is a bit hard to tell what your issue is, I have seen this error when a customer uses the wrong type of transponders. Please make sure you are using a BMW EML Remote Key or a 7935.
