Got a Recording King lap steel last year and am about to purchase a Dirty 30’s Resonator. Great company to help out musicians with not a lot of income! Keep up the good videos!
choosing my first guitar and im down between this one and a epiphone starling at my local shop. so glad i came across your video! what a beautiful guitar
I've got a RK RD318 and it's a great guitar. It's really got me into Recording King for price/quality. Have been considering an RPS 9 too! Really love their guitars and haven't seen a single negative review on any of their models!
I love mine, it's a very loud guitar especially for its size. Changed strings and shaved saddle plays like butter. The only thing that gives this away as a "cheap " guitar is the truss rod cover. No one believes it's $150 Don't knock China built, they've got the robots. Update got truss rod cover and a slightly used baby taylor gig bag. It's now my number 1
Hey man just came across your Channel! Was doing some research on that goldtop Harley Benton! Just wanted to say that the videos are great, they’re professional and the audio quality is great, super informative and really helpful, you sir have restored my faith in affordable guitars!! I will be buying both the recording kind and the gold top very soon, keep up the great work bro!
Not sure what they do now, but I got the first run Dirty Thirties 0 and the top was solid spruce black/red sunburst with "boxwood" back & sides - generally birch or some other inexpensive wood. It was all solid with rosewood fingerboard and bridge and bone nut and saddle. Billed as an "old Montgomery Ward" copy. Nice little instrument for $150. As I understand it, they were modeled after pre-WWII Gibsons and the like, and still use the old designs and techniques. Chinese manufactured, but they really have the process dialed in. Pushes a lot of sound and nice fit and finish. No obvious mess inside as some cheap instrument have. If he really dumped that because of the fingerboard "flaw" he's going to be very disappointed as ebony becomes harder to find and they start using the mixed black & white ebony for fingerboards. Even GC is turning to them as their business decays and they can't afford the "big names" anymore.
yes they are exceptionally loud for being so small. Great tone and just different enough to set it apart from other guitars especially in a mix or on stage.
I want to second this opinion on how good this guitar is. I have the Single O series 9 plus. This has the solid sitka top and laminated mahogany back and sides. I think the one in this video has the black finish on the back and side and what they describe as 'white wood'. Either way, these guitars sound like vintage old time instruments, they are loud and responsive and good for slide too.
I got the Single 0 and I share your enthusiasm! I do recommend replacing the tuners. They do look legit, but man, I kind of like to be able to TURN them. I used cheap Grover Sta-Tite ones, they look like Waverlys but cost only $25 for a set.
I have 2 RK Dirty Thirties, the ROC-9-TS Century 33 and the 12 string. Love them both and maybe in the hunt for a 3rd. Can't beat the value. A buddy who jams with me leaves his Taylor in the case 50% of the time and plays my RK's.
I bought a cheap recording king parlor guitar, which was all laminate whitewood. I bought at guitar center 3 years ago, it was advertised as having a solid spruce top at guitar center and also on musician's friend. I paid 100 bucks for it and 50 bucks for a nice gig bag. I had sold one of the best guitars I ever had, a dreadnaught Alverez, a Rd20S, which was an excellent instrument, but because of back problems, I could not play it anymore. The recording king has turned out to be a good guitar.
Bought the EZ tone all solid model 0 size and it plays and sounds as well if not better than Martin O’s I’ve owned and played .. I prefer this guitar over all my guitars and I own a good few .. outside of my Gibson L-OO Montana series it’s my favourite! I highly recommend these guitars ! So totally agree with ya .
I've been thinking about picking up the same one to carry around, saw it on sale online. Traveling with a full size dreadnought is getting a little old. I subscribed since we are local, haven't talked in a while. Ken
That does sound great! Your playing is fantastic too! I have an Ibanez PN15 parlor that I put a fishman in also, same deal. What strings do you put on her?
I keep seeing a lot of these on Ebay for parts or repair. Usually either a neck broke at the headstock or a lifting bridge. Even one with a brace that had become totally detached. I do believe they sound good and play well for a small , cheap guitar but I dont think they would stand up to constant use on the road. Nice little guitar tho.
I think with any guitar if it's on the road will take a beating. Acoustic guitars are way more fragile due to Glue, heat, and all that. So you are probably right, however Eddy Dunlap, Guitarist out of Nashville tours with one. I am sure there are others, but he's one I actually personally know. thanks for contributing to the conversation.
Jason Simmonds Jason. I really can’t comment on I’ve only ever played the 9 series for any length of time. I’ve played a few in store and thought they were great. I store hearing can be deceptive if your ins. Room that’s all wood as lost acoustic rooms are. Everything rings Recording King makes great instruments. Can’t imagine it wouldn’t be great.
I'm considering one . Can you tell me what you didn't like about it ? I'm looking for a good all laminate guitar that will stand up better to the elements , travel and changing humidity levels in New York . Thanks .

Big_ Red_Wanderer thanks man. Yes. I’m thinking About another recording king. Met those guts at NAMM and super great
I've got two little Recording Kings and I love em both. They play and sound great. Bought both as beaters and fell in love.
choosing my first guitar and im down between this one and a epiphone starling at my local shop. so glad i came across your video! what a beautiful guitar
These are fantastic guitars. Good luck in your guitar journey
-the slide sounds amaaazzzing on that guitar !!!!
solid African Mahogany backs and sides
I have one, and there is something very different about it, I put medium heavy strings on it, which makes it pluck and twang. It’s got character.
I agree there is something. Different about it. Character is the best description
I personally found out about Recording King the other day. From the ones Demo'd I am very impressed with the sound and cost.
same

I am looking at a 318 or 328 dreadnought and I played a RPS 11 that was amazing.
Iv got the ooo version. Gets played more than my D-18.
The back and sides are laminated "whitewood" which is a variant of Pine.
Great sound for the money. I would suggest you go with a bit softer pick for the strings you got on there and to sweeten up the sound a bit.

holds tune unbelievably well. I put a fishman Matrix infinity and it's great with a Baggs DI
@@usuarioprivado574 there is not a truss rod cover. The Truss Rod adjustment is on the body end through the sound hole.

Kristian, thanks I appreciate the kind words. Both really great guitars

Thank you!
Thanks man, keep on strumming!
Thanks man. Appreciate it
How low is the action? Is it low enough for small handed girls? Thought about one for my daughter. Sounds good, by the way.
Thanks. Action is super great. Get a proper setup if you get one. It’s perfect for smaller hands
I got a 000 RK for $200 with beautiful mohogany back and sides. Pretty killer deal. I'd like a single 0 though!
great find
Great video - subscribed

Great vid man! Thanks for the review.
T-bone it’s a great guitar.
It sounds beautiful. Do you have low tension strings on it?
In the this video I had 13-56 mediums but tuned down to open D
Sounds as good as any Gibson ! 😁🖒✌
I dig this cheap guitar. Great sounding!
The projection is insane!,at least through the mic it is
For sure. It’s crazy that this little guitar does this. I’m even tuned down to Open D.
That does sound great! Your playing is fantastic too! I have an Ibanez PN15 parlor that I put a fishman in also, same deal. What strings do you put on her?
Thanks. D’Addario 13-57 EJ 17 I think phosphor bronze
Its IS the best parlor on the market. Its incredibly responsive, with low low action.
Couldn't agree with you more. Great guitar
Are the inlays just painted on, like on the RPS-7?
They are inlaid at least on the one I have.
The headstock is different now.
Thanks for helping convert me
Great guitars. I’m glad I could help
Subbed.
Happy new year!!
PauL TerL thanks Paul. Happy New Year to you
It sounds good . They always sound good when tuned down to d c g e what ever.

How does the series 7 stack up yo the series 9?

Not bad at all!But I prefer my gretsch jim dandy!
Whats the tuning? dadgad?
very close Guzman, it's open D DADF#AD
I can never see the point in wearing a cap backwards!
tiger woods could beat me with one cheap club. it’s the Indian not the arrow… these are what you make them
Ordered one.....sent it back after 5 minutes. I don't get the appeal.
I'm considering one . Can you tell me what you didn't like about it ? I'm looking for a good all laminate guitar that will stand up better to the elements , travel and changing humidity levels in New York . Thanks .
This is a finger style guitar ,not to be used with a pick
Didn’t realize there were “laws” dictating how each guitar body size should and should not be played
I do what I want.
@@BrynTru as does every musician
Why the generic computer music on a guitar channel? Ugh...
