Playing in character, remembering the history of said character, and being witty with the great Clive; now that's comedy genius.

coogan is awesome. Partridge is the best british comedy character.... possibly of all time. and his story is thus far is being perfectly played out, for over 20 years!!! the continuity is spot on and the growth and development of key characters over time is outrageous. I watched 2 episodes of Alan Partridge 15 years ago and didnt really get it. The same day i watched one more episode and found the funniest comedic character i think (to this day) that i will ever find. genius. if rumours are to believed.... new series is coming in the next 12 months.

I remember seeing the interview with Joanna Lumley, I loved it where she did the 'buy it now - it's in the basement!' bit, and the bit at 16:04 where she leans forward and asks who did Help The Aged. I found that bit quite entrancing for some reason. She's a warm, clever, very funny and beautiful woman.

So many layers here: Alan Partridge is a fictitious presenter hired by the real BBC / Norwich Radio, who shoots a man dead (not real), and subsequently has a realistic documentary made about his career and is interviewed here by Clive Anderson (real) all while staying in character. Somewhere inside all these guises is the absolutely genial Steve Coogan. Love it!
