What an excellent discussion. Pity that not one member of the European Parliament or the upcoming Trump administration listened in and took the advice of these two giants of the economy to heart. Thanks, Nima, for inviting once more Richard Wolff and Michael Hudson.

Michael Hudson 💯 speaking the truth. Larry Wilkerson did, but I think the lobby got to him.
Threatened his family would never get a decent job for the rest of their lives unless he stfu. My opinion.

An outsider's take on the American scene: The day will come when the world will be able to negotiate with America.
Many consumer-citizens stateside might say go for it! There are big oil and lithium reserves in Persia. Plus, with Trump's grand declarations about Greenland, Mongolia, Canada, and the Panama Canal, America looks primed to become number 1 again!
As a European visitor to your shores some years ago, I can tell you that many of my peers and colleagues back home still look up to America as being a beacon of hope and idealism for the world. Many Europeans are overwhelmed by the sheer immensity of its big box shopping infrastructure when they visite the US.
When I stayed in Cherry Hill, NJ, a couple of years ago, I made it a point to do daily shopping at the local big box. Even though the terrain in and around Cherry Hill is rather flat, I still nicknamed the area-"The Shining Big Box on the Hill". When I landed at Philadelphia International, I collected my baggage and went straight to the car rental agency. One might assume, that being European, I would've rented a compact car. But, no! When one travels abroad, one must do like the locals and go big or go home. I opted for the oversized Mazzerrati Humvee with built-in-the-dash adderall dispenser. To my enjoyment, it came equipped with a life sized portrait of Alina Habba strutting her stuff while walking down Madison Avenue dressed as the Virgin Mary.
Anyway, to conclude, I think that the US is ready for total domination under Trump and his sidekick/doppelganger-minister of foreign policy and international affairs, Dr. Quincy Magoo.

We wait for him to move in our direction with gifts of financialized gold.
Times have been a bit rough as of late out here in East Hempstead. My neighbor Margot McBride Winchester lives in a semi-dilapidated turn-of-the-century mansion not far from the waterfront. But, with those often ignored reports about climate change, the high tidewater comes along to flood her cellar, especially in the springtime.
I saw Margot leave her old manse the other morning with her son. I don't know where she was supposed to take him, but word from another neighbor was how she left him on the side of the road, in front of an old farm house. The reason being was that supposedly he was complaining about not receiving his usual yearly Christmas gift of caviar laced body wash and the annual winter trip with Banana Republic Barron to their palatial estate in Grand Cayman. After this abrupt drop off, Marlot continued on in her old rusted out '89 Mercedes to the center of East Hempstead to attend her weekly ben wa balls training session with the great great nephew of Andrew Carnegie. After the session, she received her weekly botox injection.
Many grand dames and expensive hand bag harlots out here on Long Island cluck and gossip about how Margot has received too much botox and plastic surgery and how her face resembles that of someone who's been stung by a swarm of yellowjackets and wasps. And, unfortunately, I would have to agree with them. Margot looks to be a bit on the rough side with all that's been going on in our wealthy enclaves. I'm not afraid to say that I shed a tear when I hear of her misfortune. And hopefully, the winds of change will blow through our little Long Island hamlet, and number 47 will be the goose that lays the golden egg for Madame Margot McBride Winchester and the many others who are just like her.

Because the oligarks are loosing heavily with Russian victory. Not only 11 trillions because of lithium but much, much more and also most of the reconstruction contracts, he has to throw some juicy bones to them: I'll give you Canada and Greenland. More ressources than Ukraine and they need them to industrialize with modern tech.

It is more than just the growing number of human beings in the world, it is also meaningful that each individual is now using more of the finite resources available than previous generations were able to access.

Interesting as always... It would be nice to find out from both gentlemen who actually is going to do the work in the US when they deport the illegal or undocumented immigrants... It reminds me when I was working between 2006 and 2008 in the UK, when you heard only the Polish language in the underground and when you saw the Britisch with beer cans in their hands standing in front of the unemployment offices, and being disgrunteled why the East Europeans took away their jobs... Well, in the meantime the Polish migrants all returned to Poland with a lot of experience in their bags, to such an extent that they now have a better life in Poland. I think the same will happen in Mexico. I think Mexico should embrace those people back as they will contribute greatly to their country. And the US... Well they will be wondering who will be doing those low-paying jobs that no US person will be prepared to do.

I understand all that Richard says about the accumulation of capital by Elon Musk and the power he yields as a result. However, I wonder whether Musks's own empire, largely built on a collapsing financial system, is also collapsing? Why would he otherwise be so overt in his manipulations and thereby make himself subject to ridicule?

400 billion net worth doesn't buy much in the grand schemes of things.
Buying American politicians is easy because they are literally like prostitutes. His actions clearly show he is narcissistic, holds few morals and a tax evading leech who benefits from military contracts and government subsidies
