Building A Bike Jump With NO Screws or Power Tools

  • We turn a Cedar tree into an epic, yet simple mountain bike ramp. No screws, no glue, no nails, no power tools, and no killing of any trees! This way, when the ramps rot, the hardware isn't littering the forest. This is a part of a bigger project to create a massive mountain bike trail in my backyard.

@@Jake-jx7hs not really pointless. The end result is a lot better for the environment as it was shown in the video, its also a lot sturdier. Yeah maybe not using power tools was pointless, but it brings us back to the older way of doing things, where more skill, precision, and closeness to the build was required. You also feel closer to the end result, after toiling over it for a long period of time, and its something that viewers enjoy seeing, so it brings up the views as well.

Brilliant. Love the thoughtfulness and passion that went into this build. That's a lot of dedication, time, and skills that most folks don't have. Much appreciated.

You should do this same episode but in Japan or South Korea with one of the local wood working master groups. Might end up with a sick skate park =P

I'm a huge fan of handtool woodworking. Estate sales, flea markets, and antique stores are all good places to look for handtools, and Paul Sellers and Wood by Wright are two excellent youtube channels, although it's generally moreso furniture making that they do.
