What happens if you fall on those slip-knotted runners? If they don't slip, won't they essentially be "fixed" and shorten the amount of rope in your system? Or do you want them to slip and accept the extra slack as a compromise?

Yes. I prefer inverted gri gri attached with a quick link, no chest harness. I accidentally put it on right side the other day and it feed so much worse.
