Why you don't race the 300 SRT ?
Why would I buy merch for a car review channel?
You can also install ac cooled seats into that mk7. Could make for a throwback mcm episode like the good ‘ol days…Think about it 😉
Why you need awd in australia.. i get it here in Quebec cause we have real winter but in australia ??? Why pay more ?? 💯
Now that you have changed to the Golf Channel on youtube... can you get a Golf Country and do a offroad episode?
Love how the boys remain extremely frugal despite their success. Part of the appeal of MCM is the relatability. No wide body Lambos in sight 😂
I mean isn’t the price of a run rate golf the same as a wide bodied Lambo in Aus? But totally agree.
93k for a golf ? Wouldn’t say that’s extremely frugal haha. So happy for the them though they are living the dream
That's what I am thinking too. Was a quirky auto mod channel years ago now its like a legit apparently well funded RUclips show.
Great guys!
Leave that to the Americans😁 They get a little successful and go straight to supercars🤣
SO stoked on this episode because I literally just bought a 2019 GTI Rabbit edition in white and I absolutely love it!! Cheers boys!!
My all time favorite RUclipsrs now own my all time favorite car. I’m so happy and can’t wait for the GTI mods!
Seeing Marty defending the honour of a Volkswagen Golf GTI is the absolute pinacle
For the price of the 7.5gti you can buy a Cupra 5F modify it and really slay the 8R.
but a cupra is a golf with a seat badge on it

Great to see Marty join the dark side and embrace the VAG. But you're both wrong about one thing, the best Golf is a Mk3 Seat Leon Cupra 😜 OK I may be a bit biased but really looking forward to this series since it'll all be aplicable to my cupra 😂
Marty switched to the darkside
Keen to know where all the mk7.5 gti’s are? The cheapest one on the internet currently is 30k (30-35k seems to be the cheap end) not 15!? I would buy one right now for 15k!
What keeps me coming back to these guys is that once they blew up, they didn’t jump to Lamborghinis and Maseratis like everyone else.
Exactly this. The older, weirder and ..smaller.. the more fun we're having!
How much $ you think 1m view on RUclips does? I understand they have sponsorships but they would be on Ferraris if they could trust me 🤣
They have jumped on Lotus before 😜 but that doesn't matter. As long as they keep doing what they enjoy, I probably keep watching.

Too bad you blokes don't get the best Golf R, which is the manual Mk8.
Today I test drove both a DSG and a manual, and sure the DSG is quick, but it's so incredibly boring compared to the manual, no driver engagement or involvement or fun.
Subie till I die but recently I found myself looking at either a Toyota Chaser or a Nissan Stagea, I would love a double unicorn R34 front end like mechanical Stiggs
Too many newer cars lately were are the nuggets
"Understanding is probably the most important thing really, so you can have an informed opinion." Good life lesson there.
I love the Marty gets to the heart of the matter of the HVAC issues. Moog says that people who actually own a Mk8 have gotten used to the new interface and it doesn't bother them. But the reality is that whether used to it or not, it's objectively worse. It introduces more actions to do the same things and removes your attention from the road to do it, making it less safe and more cumbersome. I'm glad VW announced they will go back to steering wheel buttons. Now do the same for the environment controls. I don't know if I agree that the Mk7 GTI is overall the better car, but it's definitely the one I'd rather be in right now.
I'm in Team Marty. I'd be a Mk I camp if there was one.
You might have to settle for Mk2 camp, Mk1 GTI's were never sold here so the dozen or so cars that are on our shores are worth more than Martys 7.5
14:58 How bad ass is that cop car!!
Yeah, they really fill your rear screen with lights and noise. They're not bad ass at that point.
Would have been nice to see a old vs new series. Was hoping Marty had purchased a vr6 of some sort like a mk4 and then did a turbo build and put them to the test
I was fuckin sure he’d poached a vr6. Or at least a r32
R32s are £15k in the UK and we've got tons of them, probably more expensive than a mk8 over there
But the vr6 is a heavy pig.
@@foreverjim5240 Exactly, as cool as a VR6 is , if you want to turbo one of them you'll be spending a minimum of 20-25k to have it done right , that is the same price in the UK, Canada or the US, they are not simply off the shelf parts , talk to any Vag specialist and they'll tell you to get a GTI Mark 5 or newer, I have had a series of Mk iv Golfs and the newer ones are cheaper and easier to mod and get big HP out of them
@@99unclebob You don't want to turbo a VR6 anyway. You want to super charge it to keep the responsiveness and the sound. I can't believe with all the VWs the guys have never done a VR6.
Edit: That sounded negative. What I meant was, I’m surprised getting a VR6 car didn’t happen already, just because the show has done a lot of VW stuff.
Even my Dacia Duster came with Bonnet struts from factory. And that car costs less than 20k Euros brand new. (Starting at 14k. With every option about 20k)
Sorry I have no interest in VAG cars, I think they are overpriced and boring
OH MY DAYS 2x Golf’s - starting to look like my garage boys!
“When you remove the emotion from the argument and just look at the facts and figures objectively” I don’t think I have ever herd something sound more like the manufacture talking. emotion is why we are all car nuts in the first place. Emotion is what drives us to modify cars. To buy old cars that are objectively worse then there newer counterparts and fix them up and modify them.
I was half expecting a Hyundai i30N lol
Holy shit I’m so excited to see what you do to the GTI. I’m looking at doing a 7.5 GTI or GLI, haven’t decided yet. But I’m pumped to see this.

Talking of Shannons Insurance plugs though, I have to give 2 thumbs up for Shannons. I have a modified turbo SAAB, and they were the only mob that would insure me. As the owner of a MY13 mk6 golf GTi, the ECU and DSG Remap is game changing. The gear shift is so fast.
The jump between my old MK5 and my recent 7.5 was absolutely remarkable. On an ‘08 2.0 FSI, with an IC, downpipe, full host of bolt-ons and full software (ECU/TCU) upgrade, I was still 30-40hp below what my new 7.5 GTI can achieve with a simple Stage 1 remap. Couldn’t love it more.

@@QuarkGluonSpasma the jump must be unreal. The mk5 was prone to gear box issues from what I read…?
@@thomascarruthers4397 Indeed, my particular model year had a warranty extension up to 100k miles on the mechatronic units in the DSGs. Problem is, its a VW
There's been a lot of regulation changes between these two models. Things the 7 could do the 8 had to find new ways. We test drove the EV version of the 7 here in Germany. It was literally a ICE and tank delete replace with an electric motor and battery pack. The 8 has been designed to be EV ready. So you could argue the 7 is the peak of IC design. We actually ordered a golf 7 comby from the factory. The order was delayed due to the regulation changes that meant all the engines needed upgrading. We cancelled the order and bought a showroom Touran, which is also baced on the golf 7 platform. 180kph is the top speed before the 1.4L engine gives out to the buffeting drag over the bigger body. The front right shock absorber was blown from the first test drive. And the ACC can easily get bumped out of calibration. Costing 400 Euro to restore. The panorama roof leaks and still needs fixing. Other than that a great car.
Nice, you put our old Turbos and TÜV plate on:-) Greetings Björn
