Thanks for ur time...I've been dealing with ol sbc motors etc for years...these hei dist have always been very reliable except for some module issues...I agree those coils never go bad...and that Chinese junk really bites us all in the azz... I've never had to replace that pick up either until recently...it's a real shame we can't get good gm parts anymore at a good price...again thanks for time....
@@garlitzhyperformancegarage8818 What causes rotor buttons or distributor caps to burn up repeatedly? Replaced distributor, coil, cap and rotor button. Purchased cheap and premium quality parts. Still same results. It's a 305 in my 1985 GMC sierra classic truck.
Question if it's going bad will it stop it from running like after so long it's like after I ride about an hour to start acting like it want to cut off is that something it do
When the spark module goes out the spark dies immediately and when the pickup coil goes bad it'll stay running until you shut it off or it'll short out and only fire on 4 cylinders
Hei has different makers. The screw's that hold in the cm. (Control module) can be different than stock. So don't lose them. I having the same trouble with my hei. I'm burning up CM's it works fine when it's Luke warm. It acts like a VA (vacuum advance) problem. Which my VA is adjustable. I would believe that PC (pickup coil) is low voltage and could see the value in resistance just being wire wrapped. Distributor's don't have a weep hole so moisture can cause problems that PC and CM can get hot when engine over heat's.
Culd you please tell my how upgrade that thing? I want waste spark on my e core type ignition coil and enabel the R terminal selenid option but my fuse pops always dono why? Maybe because the 4 pin ignition module ore because the voltage regulator inside the dash board its anoying for cold starting in winter I have problems with starting engine.

What's was the problem caused by pickup coil?
Pick up coils can short out! Sometimes they only fire 4 or 6 cylinders or go out completely!

@@keithbell8690 change your advance springs! Put heavier one's in! The lighter the spring the longer it advance's and heat is excessive!
That's why they call them Jesus clips. When they go you say Jesus where did that go.

The pick up coil inside diameter is different because it was made in China…as you just said. 14:00
