After joining the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series in 2015, Polignano a Mare's now a regular stop for the cliff diving elite, and it's easy to see why.. The town's perched on the cliffs surrounding a turquoise cove, creating a natural amphitheatre for the crowds who flock to watch the divers in action and giving the event an unbeatable atmosphere. Polignano a Mare delivered a big upset in 2016 when world champion Gary Hunt failed to make the final and Artem Silchenko delivered a final-round masterclass to bag his only win of the year.

Think of not having the platform, just off the rocks. They used to grab the rocks with their toes, it was crazy.

what a joke - every dive is awesome. Nitpicking some twist of a foot is one thing but when the next girl does everything perfect and the judges give her an 8 - get real. That's not a competition. It's a popularity contest.
I was a world record setting high diver for over 10years.
The judges and coach are All PSYCHOPATHS!
All.of them have never accomplished anything in their lives so they literally feed their entire ego off the accomplishments of the athletes...who they judge sooo harshly because they don't want anyone getting a feeling they could become something special and take away the power from the judges or officials!

I love water. I am never afraid to swim as far as possible and wherever is possible. I remember surprising people at the young age by the things I did in swimming. Once I got to the jumping board 10 meters high. I still remember the fear. I didn't jump and that was my last time up there. These girls jump from virtually unbelievable hight. I don't know how the hell they do that at all. Pure pleasure to watch. Thanks.
the highest i jumped was 12 meters doing a "mollbergare" (forward backflip) and one time i overrotaderd and landed on my butt an legs, an the for a week later my backlegs was blue,yellow green..and this is twice that height. if they land wrong its some serious pain

Omgosh, I would have to crawl on all fours just to get out on that platform, no way I would dive off.
Iffland did a great job! Especially being so tall. It's easier for a short person to tuck and roll vs a tall person. However all contestants looked as professional as they really are.

My friends and I used to jump a 95 foot cliff in Lynn canyon N. Vancouver when we were 17. Your body turns into spagetti when you hit the water at these speeds and you can crush a disk or break your neck and or back with the smallest mistake.

The guy who wrote the very famous song VOLARE..meaning..FLYING..came from this town ( Domenico Modugno..he used to dive from these same cliffs with friends, nearly everyday..and would say it feels like your flying ( volare ) hence the inspiration to write VOLARE.
That title is misleading! Not ONE of those divers was named "Cliff!"

Christ, these women are amazing! Such wonderful, gutsy role models for the girls of today. The most I ever did when I was younger was 11m (no training, just a whole lot of enthusiasm and love for the ocean), so I'm in awe.
Gonna jump my highest cliff today, 20m!! Quite excited

Great no doubt but seemed like she hit the water the wrong way, isn't the splash supposed to be minimal, now I don't know for sure im just basing it off of like Olympic divers, this is obviously different but im sure they still count that
Women did beautyful dives, but men's dives level and difficulty are just impressive !

@@candid1954 Where does one find a high-dive platform above deep water? They need many lifeguards, and they're jumping from much higher than regular diving platforms in Olympic pools
@@sarahdez1 We train in places like Area 47 in Austria(the have every hight from 3 to 20 and then a 27 meter on top), from cliffs or in diving shows that you typically see in amusement parks. If it is official training camps we have professional lifeguards, but if we just train by ourself, we lifeguard for each other.
