Somalis have tribal politics issues but that is just politics and all Somalis are friends, brothers and sisters. I'm from Puntland and Hassan S Mohamud is an adversary of Puntland based on how he handled SCC Khaatumo's conflict with Somaliland. All that is nothing when it comes to the independence of Somalia, it is untouchable and on that note, Hawiye are my brothers and sisters whatever happened between us in the past and that's core Somali principle for centuries, we don't moan around when we have a common enemy. Pick up the guns guys because that's how we lost huge junk of land to Kenya and Ethiopia by infighting between ourselves for no apparent reason other than tribal differences. Somaliland is part of Somalia. Somaliland ports and control with military navy is what Ethiopia wants. If Somaliland becomes independent it will be a pariah state, not aafe for anyone traveling there.
Ethiopia's agreement with Somaliland is a surprise news for us Ethiopians. We really don't know what our leaders are thinking until now. What the people of Somalia should know is that the people of Ethiopia have not officially supported this agreement. It was not expected that the Ethiopian government officials alone would decide on such an agreement that could destabilize the East African region. What I want to say is that the people of both countries should not get into conflict too soon and open the door to our worst Western enemies who have been waiting for this opportunity. I do not think that the people of Ethiopia will support any armed conflict with Somalia because of this agreement. It is the other way around. However, because of this agreement, if Somalia intends to cooperate with Ethiopia's bitter enemies such as Egypt to endanger Ethiopia's national interests, believe me, Somalia's existence will be in serious danger and in the end Egypt will not care about any danger to Somalia. That's what the West did to Ukraine. Therefore, the Somali authorities should resolve the problem by holding frequent talks with neighboring Ethiopia before they make an unwise decision too soon. When Somalia was torn apart by civil conflict for thirty years, Egypt did not care and neither did the Arab League. Instead, it was Ethiopia that was doing a lot to bring peace to Somalia. Egypt would be more than happy to wage a proxy war at the expense of Somalia. Ethiopia is a country that has a lot of experience in armed struggle both internationally and domestically. In addition, it is a country that has strong allies such as Russia and the United Arab Emirates. This means it will lead to a western proxy war. This is more dangerous for Somalia, which recently gained stability than Ethiopia. And that is what the West has always wanted. Somaliland actually does not consider itself as "part" of Somalia. This is not really about the port but about Egypt's goal to blockade Ethiopia which historically is a red sea nation. They supported and trained Eritrean separatists in the past.😏

By your logic, Palestine that lacks a unified police force, or their own currency is not a legitimate country. The juvenile Ethiopian PM Abiy Ahmed is like a drunk driver down the hill without a break. He has been creating so much pain and chaos to Ethiopia to the point that the country is at the edge of disintegration. Millions died, displaced and impoverished since he came to power. Most probably, this was his silly strategy to garner the support he lost domestically by signing a MoU to have a military port in Somaliland - in return to acknowledging their independence. This is like a bombshell to the Horn of Africa, AU and Ethiopians as well. As long as this man is in power, he is adding more and more problems left and right to the myriads of domestic crisis. Ethiopia has always respected the sovereignty of Somalia until this MoU signed by the unpopular Abiy Ahmed. Ethiopia has also been like a second home for millions of Somalians during the crisis in Somalia and vice versa. The friendship of the two countries should not be affected with incompetent leaders. Hopefully, the MoU fails to realize so that no unnecessary war is triggered between the two nations.
