  • It all started in the gym for BD Athlete Carlo Traversi. Now, 15 years later, he’s come full circle, tracing his roots back to where it began, only this time, as the owner of Sacramento’s new premier bouldering gym. But Carlo’s motivation is not only to provide quality plastic pulling, but also to create what he experienced growing up-a communal place for climbers to train and hang out, but also be mentored and taught the valuable ethics needed for the crag. Check out this film documenting Carlo’s journey from the gym to the crag and back again.

The boulder field is honestly one of the better gyms I've been to. Would recommend!

Any thoughts on this style of progression implanting unrealistic expectations of what people should be experiencing in the outdoors? "My own self worth was tied to my climbing ability" As someone who grew up privileged to experience the colorado mountains intimately, it pains me greatly to see gym culture permeate into the outdoor spaces I grew up loving. A culture not based in a dance with nature but a testosterone fueled beating of routes into submission.

Lol, when the camera man walked around the table during the meeting.... you could see people trying not to look. That must of been really weird for everyone involved

Obviously winner misspelled with one n autocorrects to whiner.

I feel like this film was more about balancing the challenges of climbing at a professional level and managing a new gym (something new for him). It is immensely stressful work and I think the fears and challenges he shared are legitimate. If you don't like to see pro climbers as real and sometimes insecure people, then maybe you should stick to watching the highlight reels.

You should read what Jeff Lowe said about climbing defining one's self worth.
Even more in the superlative sense of "self worth" I offer
What is the chief end of man?
Man's chief end is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever.
    Seek Christ Jesus your Redeemer
    God Bless You All
