This was probably my favorite performance of any and all seasons of "American Idol". I've never forgotten this one, and that's saying something, considering how many years ago it's been.
haha, wow, Jason was so different back then in term of nervousness on stage. He was so so nervous. Well, Jason is great and is the heart of Season 7(one of the best season ever)!
Couldn't agree more with you, Rathadeth. After I saw this performance of Jason's, he instantly became my favorite and I looked forward to his song choice each week. That was my fav Idol year and I don't think any other will be able to top it. ;(
Honestly Simon (aka the ONLY judge that ever mattered) had a HUGE bias for this dude from the beginning. But he only ever gave just three memorable performances throughout this competition. This one, hallelujah, and somewhere over the rainbow. And the latter two (especially hallelujah) are just two of THE great songs that would tend to get very positive feedback. Ironically it was exactly the opposite for David Cook. Simon REALLY didn’t like him from the beginning. I think mostly due to the fact that he just didn’t think the whole rock deal would work out-It’s too easy to fall into awkwardness and pretentiousness and that was what Simon viewed him initially-just a rock joint wannabe. Simon liked this Jason Castro type of personality: somebody with a dreamy eye in the self possessed zone. He perceived THIS as “Charisma”, not David Cook’s stoic serious passion (which I personally find to be much more charismatic since it’s much more mature professionally). And afterwards he realized how wrong he was which was why he felt the need to apologize to David before they called. That being said. Jason does most definitely have a very beautiful voice, and his three memorable performances are very memorable.
this is an example of why Paula is gone. She gives a rave review and the audience stays silent, but Simon gives a great review and the audience erupts....her opinion meant nothing
This was the moment I went like: "Wow, who is this guy?" Season 9 top 24 performance just suck. Nobody WOW me a bit. I am searching for a contestant just like Jason Castro. I know it might be hard to find though.
