- The legacy of Scrooge McDuck has been secured at the end of DuckTales, but who will carry Clan McDuck forward? Today I'm breaking down by the daughter of Scrooge McDuck herself, Webby Vanderquack, will carry the Duck family far into the future. Huey, Dewey, Louie, Donald and Della are all key family members, but the responsibility of leading them all will fall to the duck who earned her place in the family square.

If you ask me, i think both Webby and the Duck triples should all inherit half of Scrooge's company as well as his fortune.
I think it makes sense that Webby is the Heir of Scrooge. Webby always took an interest in Scrooge’s adventures and past, even when he shunned it. She kept up his legacy even when she didn’t know that she was related to him, and even when Scrooge kinda rejected her as a family member.
And Webby definitely helped to solve some conflicts within the family.
The series does show that other characters are dedicated and worthy members of Scrooge’s family, but the message is that Webby is the one that makes the most sense to be the Heir.
Webby also represents something that Scrooge never had: a child of his own.
Well, considering the fact that he's immortal...probably no one.

@@JoeMama-kj7bq But there are still things in this world (and others) that can kill Scrooge; it can be something simple as a virus, disease, a supernatural accident, etc. The biggest mistake some of his enemies make is believing that he's invincible and can overcome anything. I know he's Scrooge Mcduck but that doesn't mean he can't be stopped or destroyed completley; even if he somehow came back to life there could be a limit to it.
I thought he would split it amongst all the kids (including, but not exclusive to Donald, Della, Fethrey and Gladstone).
Fethry and Gladstone aren't part of Clan McDuck. Scrooge has never declared them to be so, and they've never applied for membership. They are Donald's cousins on his father's side of the family, and aren't Scottish at all.

Looking back there are multiple clues to Webby's identity
In the fountain of youth episode, Webby was taking on more and more of Scrooge characteristic even as Scrooge was getting younger
In Lena's dream, Webby had Scrooge's iconic hat and cane
I bet that Donald, Della, Huey, Dewey and Louie would have been able to find the Parchment too, because they were emotionally bonded. May and June couldn’t because, despite being biologically connected, there was no emotion between them and Scrooge.

I just watched the entire series with my son - I loved it! Sad it's over, but I am sure it is really hard to keep coming up with storylines. I do love how the show revolves around the idea that family is the greatest adventure. ❤️

Scrooge said *the rightful* heir and by that, people usually mean their child, so what if the Papyrus indirectly created Webby through FOWL?

She's NOT even canon, let alone Scrooge's "heir." So yeah, we're laughing because this is Frank's and Matt's deluded and desperate attempt to make a glorified Mary Sue "canon." Too bad canon doesn't work like that. DONALD is Scrooge's true heir. The one that actually DID go on adventures with him and even before him. 😑
Webby couldn't just be the blood descendant of Scrooge. If that were the case, May and June would've been able to find the Papyrus of Binding. Webby is not Scrooge's next of kin unless that is a known fact. Basically, Scrooge had to acknowledge that Webby was part of his family. Which he did long before he knew she was related to him. Webby was a member of Clan McDuck from season 1. And she was the only member of the clan who showed any interest in inheriting the rights and responsibilities of Clan McDuck. While Huey, Dewey and Louie will inherit McDuck Enterprises and all its aspects, Webby will inherit the clan titles, Castle McDuck, and guardianship of the Templar treasure.
NO. Webby is a glorified newbie and she doesn't even EXIST in canon, much less is Scrooge's "daughter/clone." Scrooge's true heir is DONALD DUCK and to a lesser extent, HDL...the ones who actually DID go on adventures together.

What's " blatantly false" is Webby being Scrooge's "daughter/clone" when she doesn't even EXIST outside Ducktales and when she didn't share a drop of blood with him in the 1987 original series.
"Anyone with half a brain" can tell that she and a bunch of other newbies are NOT canon to the Disney Ducks universe. Scrooge's "true heir" is DONALD and to a lesser extent, HDL. Not that overly glorified newbie. Learn something about the source material before you try insulting me. 😑

@@ThePaganSun I know AT LEAST as much about the source material as you do. Probably more. Whether you like it or not, DT17 is a reboot of DT87, making DT87 part of the source material. The only completely original characters in DT17 are Mark Beaks and those directly associated with him. Literally everyone else comes from somewhere in Disney Duck lore.

One of the many tiny bits of foreshadowing that Webby was related to Scrooge was in her hairstyle- instead of "no hair, round head with feathers," she has a bob very similar to Scrooge's sister Matilda. Since Matilda's bobbed hair was already established- albeit in brown in the earlier family trees- the creators likely chose that as Webby's style.
They did such a good job hiding that in plain sight, and making us think that it was mostly the fact that Webby was such a hardcore fangirl that led to her taking on similarities to Scrooge. And the fact that she had to break down Scrooge's walls to even be noticed by him- after living in his house for her whole life- was a great way of proving that she "earned her way square."
(As well as a great nod to the fact that Scrooge can get wrapped up in something so much that he doesn't even notice what's in front of him, like becoming so preoccupied with his quest for wealth that he didn't even notice his own father's attempts at affection and support.)

The more I watch that final the more I kind of hate it. If anyone should of been the one or ones to get that paper. It should of been the boys. The show is kind of about them and Webby was their sidekick in most cases. Not saying being a sidekick is bad. Dang how wish this show got another season. So they could of gave it a proper send off.
@King Pistachion Some things didn't add up. Harren was fighting Scrooge through out that one episode to get a feather. She had not once been near Webby. So the clones should of been Scrooge's clones and them not being able to get the paper would of made Bradford try to use the boys to get it. Heck Webby as a clone also was meh. If you like it cool. Me it's on my worst finale list.

While I can appreciate the whole clone/offspring idea for Webby as a Marvel fan it kinda just seemed like an off-brand X-23 attempt plus it seemed at odds with the shows idea of family being those you choose not those you necessarily share blood with. Having Webby be adopted by Scrooge as is heir with her parents being F.O.W.L agents trying to claim her as a way to manipulate the McDucks might have been more poignant. Particularly if they were her Nanny's estranged children.

honestly, this series was the BEST writing of balance of the muses. I mean the writing was at its heart, it kept so much momentum and fantastic pacing, all these writers HAVE to start on movies. Speaking of, I really hope they do a movie series to canotically end this IF it's the end.

*Scrooge's "true heir" and closest living relative in actual CANON is DONALD DUCK.* _Donald_ is the one that started adventuring with his nephews in the Carl Barks comics and then Scrooge joined them later. Webby (and the rest of the newbies) doesn't even exist in those comics and in the original Ducktales she was not related to Scrooge at all but was just a girl who liked tea parties.
It was very disrespectful of the DT17 writers to disrupt _three_ established families and even combine two different and separate characters like April and Webby and claim that April, May and June are clones rather than Daisy's nieces which they actually are, and to elevate Webby over Scrooge's actual canon family who did deserve the credit, _especially Donald._ Donald and the nephews are the ones that are actually related to Scrooge (or he to them since they were created first) and are the ones that actually went on all the adventures the series was based on.

He completely changed the dynamics and relationships between them. It doesn't make him "evil" per se, but careless, negligent and arrogant? Yes. He misled a bunch of people into thinking he'd respect the Carl Barks and Don Rosa comics canon (or Ducktales 1987, for that matter), not deliberately try to subvert it. That's unprofessional and disrespectful to the source material and to the canon characters who deserved better.

There isn't going to be. Disney did not renew the show for a 4th season. The DT team strongly anticipated that to begin with. We're all very fortunate they were able to finish telling the story they set out to tell since they started the show.

Something that confuses me is the fact Webby was created as a clon of Scrooge, so genetically she is (in fact) his artificial sister. Like her DNA actually comes from the Scrooge's fathers union.

Man... the MCD is more beautifully written than the MCU. Shame they jumped and sprinted to the ending. Honestly I thought webby was gonna be descendent of the writer of the journal, which is funny how much they wanted a soft continue of Gravity Falls. I just figured webby if had to be his daughter, it been like solid snake and batman beyond, where it was because the world needed that nexus of the universe.

I think webby is a future qeen
I wasn't a fan of the connotation thay webby would inherit most everything. The reason is that that would men she would have to run McDuck Enterprises and I think that would go badly given shes never been shown to be interested in business situations. So what if after getting the company and everything else, she shares it with her family so everyone has a palace in helping Mcduck Enterprises and other responsibilities run as well or better than before.

I know that many will not like what I am going to say, but I feel that Webby is highly favored by writers, he was always superior to the triplets in every aspect, another thing that bothers me is that he literally steals the spotlight from Huey, This was supposed to be his season, but he focused much more on Webby, he was only humiliated by Violet's Mary Sue at the beginning of the season and he was never redeemed, soon he had his moments in Astro BOYD and in the Sword chapter, but not much else, I would have preferred that Huey had defeated Bradford, or that Bradford had corrupted him by putting ideas in his head that his family did not want him and reminding him how Violet humiliated him in the Woodchucks chapter so that he is the villain, and in the end his family succeeds in making him reason and Violet and Lena apologize for having insulted him
