First video I've watched on this subject that laid it out neatly for someone without professional gear. Thank you!

Thank you. I am curious to clean the fringes first so not treading upon the cleaned carpet.

Dish-washing detergents often have added scent and color. Would it be better to use a pure product like Tincture of Green Soap?

No need to rinse rug to remove soap?

You can use a damp towel to absorb the soap. No need to rinse the rug and best not too. If it requires more cleaning, you can take it to a professional rug cleaner in your area.

How about if it has pee. Will it clean it that way?

Depends on how long since the accident. If you get to it quickly you can use the stain removal technic showing in this video ruclips.net/video/DtF2hwQaLSc/видео.htmlsi=FKGZqDBFt1Xm0q5d
However if it has a strong odor and it's been a while since the accident, then it's best to take the rug to a professional rug cleaner.
