best EDH channel on youtube hands down. big ups cam and dylan. also random shoutout to Dylan for supporting hardcore bands and whatnot by wearing merch in videos!
Mox amber also just keeps getting better as we get more Legends that are good in the 99, Ragavan, Lotho, etc.
100% also with more things like kitten/tyrant combo's. chrome mox, mox opal, and mox amber have a bit higher side value than a diamond for this reason and definitely upped amber's play in the meta.
I think Mox helps in Stella for the fact that it is a 0 mana rock that can add to her ability (three or more spells) and give mana with now downside (exile or discard a card)
Especially as wizards seems to like printing low costed legends lately, tinybones for example
All W comments 🙌🏼
I think another reason people are playing Mox Amber in Stella Lee is because it’s a free spell to help get to your spell count for her ability.
that is very true.
Great List, I would also include Basalth Monolith and Senseis Diving Top
Also void winnover
@florianwerk4505 it'd be weird to rank it only really is played in kinnan
@@thoroughlyrinsed3532 ok and? Still a 2 to 3
I never thought I'd see a Play to Win break up because of Wandering Archaic
😂😂😂
Every Friday and Sunday has become the most looked forward to of the week! Great vid as always. Surprised Walking Ballista didn’t show up or the soul cauldron.
I love the enthusiasm you guys brought about Fellwar Stone 😂
The only decks I've seen not running Mana Crypt have been some budget Yuriko lists, and some normal Yuriko lists.
Also sad to see no Chalice of the Void cause that card is awesome
Yuriko doesn't even run sol ring much of the time
My Yuriko list actively cut crypt.
Karn gets the one ring back from exile 👀
How often is that the target of exile removal?
@@timtehwizard7898 As often as it gets removed cause no one is destroying it 😂
Look I’m not saying it’s THAT relevant, but it’s something 😂
One thing about the legendary artifacts that didn't get mentioned is that in some niche scenarios with mount doom.
I was going to comment this!
It also isnt nothing that they just trigger some cards like say rona herald of invasion and can even be a combo with her and retraction helix.
@35:05 i actually 100% agree with Cam's evaluation there
I also for some reason picked up some odd body language from Dylan there too, good on Cam for just checkin with his homie
"Who'd a thunk it!" LOL, great stuff, All perfect lists so far, absolutely no mistakes, even the ones you doubted on, those assessments were correct, why anyone would watch any other playable card rating videos for cEDH is beyond me! 🤣 Keep up the great content guys!
Great Video! I have been watching your videos for years now. I actually made my Blood Pod deck because of Dylans! I would love to see an updated video where Dylan talks about it in the current meta!
I play dihada so its nice being able to put mox opal into my hand with her -3 and then make 3 treasures that turns it on (love your guys content!)
first time watching on youtube instead of listening on spotify. really love the graphics at the bottom! helps us keep track of how everything is rated relative to other cards
As a colorless main finally the podcast I’ve been waiting for
When your commander wants to cast 3 spells, getting your first spell for free and having it make mana is really good.
I play liberator, and I have been waiting for this video since they started doing these color videos.
O melhor conteúdo de cEDH do RUclips! Parabéns! Abraços do 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
FINALLY COLORLESSS - KOZILEK PLAYERS REJOIN!
I got a tourney coming up so I wanna get as much win cons in my colorless deck as possible
tbh your discussion on karn makes me want to see what cedh would look like if wish effects were legal. itd be very interesting.
Great list as always! ❤❤❤
With Minamo seeing more play, Mox Amber and Opal being legendary can sometimes be relevant because you can use Minamo to untap an opponent's Mox to help them pay for interaction
mox amber has become better due to 2 things, in my opinion. #1 displacer kitten/tyrant loops, just upping pieces that can combo with a sol ring or mana crypt has gotten much better i'd also add that chrome mox is better than diamond now because of kitten/tyrant. and #2 cheap relevant legendary creatures being packed into main decks, ragavan, lotho, kutzil, etc.(or even not so cheap, talion's) turn this on much more commonly then in the past.
Regarding Sticker Goblin and Cloudstone Curio: You can't actually go infinite unfortunately - you can only have 3 sticker sheets per game, and so after 9 ETBs you won't have any name stickers left to apply to the goblin, and it will stop generating mana (and even before you hit that point, you'll be left with only stickers that make less than 4 mana).
This is a hard limit with no way to circumvent it currently under the rules.
39:47 there is 1 sticker sheet with 6 (Delusionary), 2 with 5, 6 with 4, and a large number with 3, so in a random draw, you have a 70.833~% chance of hitting a 5 or a 6 with sticker goblin in your 3 sticker sheets you start the game with. You will 100% get 4 mana for 3 mana from it at a bare minimum.
So do people usually just gentleman for 4 every time? I feel like that would be a good compromise to not have to own/find all those specific sticker sheets.
@@KalleDemoss There are probably apps for it, you take your 10 stickers, and roll 3 randoms at the beginning of the game. The card functions completely differently on modo so it's a bit lucky that it's not super ubiquitous in cedh I guess. Also just paper proxies work as they are just tokens and you don't actually have to own the sticker sheets or apply the stickers.
@@KalleDemoss You get to choose 10 for your "sticker deck" but pre-game requires you to choose 3 random ones to actually use in the game. Regardless though, you'll always net positive the first time you cast it.
I want to see you guys all play a different 5 color commander, put the 10 best cards from each color into the decks, and fill the last 39 as you see fit. Would make an interesting match.
Explore the vastlands [3]
Sorcery
Each player looks at the top 5 cards of their library, reveals a land card and/or an instant or sorcery card, then puts the cards revealed this way into their hand and the rest on the bottom of their library in a random order. Each player gains 3 life
I won a game of cedh a few weeks ago with my Kozilek the Great Distortion deck. Trinisphere turn 1 was nice.
The second ability on Karn is actually the one that usually decides whether he gets played or not, since he's mainly put in decks that have an artifact as a key combat piece so they can retrieve it from exile. Stuff like Magda with Clock of Omens, Tivit with Time Sieve, etc.
I play Wondering Archaic in Niv-Mizzet and I think its wild. I am normally slowing the game down the best I can and this just helps stop everyone and helps you get to and protect your one card wincons.
Minor correction for LED, is you can't activate it as a mana source. It's been errata'd to only be able to be activated as an Instant; so that changes some very important interactions.
I feel like with mana vault if you have at least one reason to play it then it should be in the deck so id say just under a 5 sounds right. I think 4.8 though as it can cut it very close sometimes. I play it in Sisay which I’ve noticed some people don’t anymore but for me the generic 2 mana in Sisay is enough when it can also get the one ring, rhystic study or tithe out early and there are times you’re going to untap it with Derevi
in turbo decks springleaf drum is better than any 2 cmc rocks. as long as deck has more creatures at low cmc. format is definitely more creature heavy than it was a couple years ago. great list as always!
40:00 It's 4-6 Red Mana everytime. But, you also know ahead of time exactly how many it is at the beginning of the game (because you select the three sticker cards at random from a 10 card pile as a pregame action then use the one with the highest vowels)
But also, because of the way stickers work, you can't actually go infinite with it - since you can only have 3 sticker sheets, you run out of stickers pretty quick
thanks for yet another perfect list
You forgot that it's possible to use LED to cast your Commander. That's a line seen pretty often with Narset, Englightened Master and same can be done in a pinch to cast Kraum.
Don't you play that in Etali or did you just forgot?
Paradise mantle produces 2 mana in urza which i think is worth mentioning.
46:00 I love grinding Station in Ob nixilis. Eventually I'll mill both soul cauldron & ballista. Then I can win even if I only have enough cards in GY to escape 1 thing at a time
Honestly, I run all but amber in Korvold. Even if vault, jeweled and opal are dead on the board after Korvold hits, that’s fine. They are still value for me for Korvold’s power and draw ability. I don’t run amber in Stella Lee, same with opal because I got cards like Storm-Kiln Artist and Birgi, God of Storytelling for the extra mana, so they aren’t really irrelevant. Yes they both help the spell count nicely, but the way I have Stella built is a little different. It is more midrange control because of all the interaction and it focused more toward card advantage with a few untap effects like Minamo and Furnace Reins. I play test it everyday and after today’s run, tried new combos like copying Jeska’s Will for the extra mana and card advantage to get my magecraft creatures off more. Honestly, why Stella decks don’t run Storm-Kiln Artist and Archmage Emeritus is a crime in my opinion because of the advantage they grant. I know they are both four mana and Stella wants to run no more than a few 4 mana cards like The One Ring but the card advantage my built grants speaks for itself. Running Karn, the Great Creator is more good in decks like Urza, Jhoira, Magda, and in my opinion Daretti, Scrap Savant for the stax power.
To add to what you said about Karn, the -2 is a way for Godo to get Helm out of exile, is it a good strategy? No, but it does mean that the -2 has some use in a very fringe deck
@40:03 bros, the goblin does not go infinite, you only get mana as many times, as many stickers you have available, which is 9 per game.
9 ~ infinite. If youre not winning w 9 mana, ure doing sth wrong
@@aklepatzky That's just not true.. like yes it makes a lot of mana, but not going infinite means it *doesn't go infinite*, and so can't be used as a mana source for other infinite combos that require a mana input
@@ary31415 zzzz
Kinnan and roxar could also run jeweled lotus as a commander lotus petal or on commander tax
i would love to see you doing this with multicolored spells and lands (utility and non utility)😋
It's Karn's -2 which makes him broken and you can't use that in commander; the ability to tutor from sideboards silver bullets or lock pieces is why its banned in pioneer, limited to one copy in vintage, and is a staple in big mana decks in both modern and legacy
Love the Nightman shirt
excited for the mana rock podcast lol
For Sticker Goblin, also known as Name Sticker Goblin, you can use the MTGO version of it for ease of triggers! When it enters you roll a D20, on a 1-6 it makes 4 mana, on a 7-14 you make 5 mana, and on a 15-20 you get six mana!
Not in paper. The only reason it works that way in MTGO is because the stickers mechanic couldn't be programmed without breaking the entire system
Mox Opal also sacs to Mount Doom :) as the meta has moved toward creatures mattering, mount doom gets stronger
Mox amber in Stella is for the trigger abilities to go off
9:35 not cedh, but Jodah can always cascade into opal (same as mox amber), Lara can get it back (lara + kci stuff) etc.
there is a new 1 mana colorless instant that gives a creature protection from all colors and has overload for 4 and a colorless. with the amount of cards that people play that produce colorless, what is your hot take on this card?
By the way the legendary on mox opal and mox amber is very good because of rona. It goes infinite with retraction helix. Thats my deck that I play in cEDH so I love it.
Dylan's mic has some strange frequency or feedback/interference, its like a high pitch buzz. Otherwise great as always.
I thought Dylan would look hos collection again !
Talk about KCI and Isochron Scepter
Yall sleeping on cloudstone curio in any thrasios/x deck. Barrin master wizard + dockside requires 6 treasures to go infinite (which is a surprisingly high amount in a lot of early turns). Whereas curio enables your dockside to go infinite w/ thrasios if you make 5 treasures.
That 1 treasure difference doesn’t seem like a lot, but there are a TON of situations where that one additional treasure is the difference between winning on your turn vs having to pass.
Additionally, curio can help turn on your metal craft cards.
The only rating I would definitely change is that you should give artifacts that produce blue mana an extra 0.01 rating and lower the Fellwar Stone rating to 4.25
Sisay sometimes plays birthing pod too
I played conquerers flail in godo when I had that built
I play Lion's Eye Diamond in my Bomberman Breya. Combo's with Auriok Salvagers and Breya for infinite mana/Breya damage.
I think I saw Coval playing some Displacer Kitten list in Legacy that looped LED and Tormod's Crypt with Karn, since you can leep getting the LED out of exile. Other than the one-sidedness of it being a Null Rod for everyone else, and that corner case, it's probably not that great.
The accuracy and specificity of your bulletproof ranking system continues to amaze me 🔥🔥
Mox opal has a litttle bit of synergy with Sissay
Is Conqueror's Flail playable in Sisay, because it also ups Sisay's power for her activations?
It's a bit expensive for the effect, but yeah you run it.
The one ring is that card that despite doing nothing in my tayam deck often i wish i was running in it due how powerful it is
5:30 I don’t know. Chrome mox is a sacrifice target for bargain at all times. Mox diamonds discard is better than chrome mox’s exile but the free artifact is relevant with opal frequently.
What about Scroll Rack? Specifically for after a Naus or Peer
Is oswald really good because of the one ring?
You can almost say a lotus petal is a time walk lol #iykyk lol
Surprised you guys didn’t talk about null rod, which is probably a 2.0
The visuals at the end confused me lol it was panning Highest to lowest and Cam was listing them lowest to highest xD
16:24 Dylan just described edhrec
I love graf diggers cage in my gitrog build
You guys have to do a "Super Tierlist" where you rank all the best cards from this series!
Mostly because I don't want the series to end!!!
Not super relevant, but if you're on rakdos colors and you play mount doom, that can be used as a sacrifice target to blow up the table (as well as the one ring, ofc).
Chrome mox above sol ring because they both allow you to go plus 1 mana and require another card to generate the mana. Sol ring requires you to have 1 card to make a coloress cast and chrome mox requires a colored card in hand. Chromed mox make colored mana versus coloress therefore is better than sol ring.
Ranking the best mana rocks in cedh
Agree with Cam on Sticker Goblin. Don't want to deal with that stupidity
K'rrik is a big fan of Jeweled Lotus I'd say
I don’t know why, but while watching this I came to a conclusion. I prefer higher power pods purely because it’s easier to read an opponents board and threat assess. In a lower power/more casual game, I have a harder time with threat assessment.
I find it funny that they suggest jeweled lotus is best reserved for higher-cost commanders. Meanwhile, here I am, using it with my Light-Paws, Emperor's Voice, a mere two-cost commander. This is because dropping her on turn 1 packs a punch. Typically, I'd align with their perspective, though. Admittedly, my deck isn't quite CEDH-level.
I prefer chrome mox above mox diamond. If you draw mox diamond in the early draws ends up being a dead card until you get a land drop. I also have had felwar stone back fire way to much to and I cut it from almost all my list I prefer chromatic latern if I want color fixing.
Tapping for any color instead of one color (sometimes 2) that you pick at the begining is significant though. Diamond also helps cast stuff thats not in your colors like you might get with Praetor's Grasp.
They are close, and when you go below 27 lands Chrome Mox starts to be better since you'll have more 1 landers, but normally Diamond is better.
If we argue that cards like swat and fierce guardianship are auto included regardless of your commanders MV, then Mox opal should be equally as staple-ish
I want an arcane talisman that costs one makes (C) and deals one damage to you. just for the irony.
i fully expected them to just start by saying the one ring is 5 to get it out of the way
Mount doom can sac the opal or one ring
Yuriko artifact stax here FTW
Any deck running displacer kitten should also run Mana Vault
Mox opal being legendary totally matters.... if you're playing Mt doom
"Food Chain decks are not always great" but... but... Food Chain wins games... 🥺
Arent all 0 mana spells good in stella lee? You have to cast 3 spells to win.
I feel like this list subtley reminds all us Rakdos players why we never win games 😂
Podcast idea: ranking the best targets for mental misstep
What about Trinisphere
Me on my Pepe Sylvia board noticing all the times they've referenced goes both ways without the other one giggling, being convinced it's an elaborate bet they have about their ability to slip it into every episode I see y'all y'all can't sneak it past me
(it's bananas that artifacts are so good and CEDH is so high powered that LED isn't a 5)
one ring in yuriko tho?
Sticker goblin can’t go infinite unfortunately
Do you proxy all of these in cardboard? I have the Lotus petal, a gold boarder chrome mox, and a mox amber. I have the talismans and the stone and the ring and shit but the high end is way out even for someone making decent money. Who drops monthly utilities for 1 card?!?
If you're playing CEDH most people are totally cool with you playing proxies of any card you need. We like to play against your skill not your wallet. No one that didn't start playing in the 90s would be able to play if it wasn't for proxies honestly lol
@@WanderingOzz can I ask a real dumb question then? How do people make quality proxies?
@@sayntfuu Cheapest way is to print them at home and then put it together with another cheap card (land...) in a sleeve. You can also print them on 300-350g/A4 Paper in a copy shop, that's almost the real deal. Next step up would be a proxy service - there a several in the US, EU and China (obviously). If you plan to play a tournament get quality proxys
@@kaimetzner821 Great info thank you!
Basalt Monolith and senseitop feel like semi relevant cards that got missed
Sisay could grab Mox Opal, but if you are doing that you are in a bad spot lol
