Oh Whao! Didn’t know IITA still looks good like this!! I am from Ibadan & have known IITA for a long time!! Can you tell me the range that their Apartment is going for now? I’ll love to come visit very soon!! You did a wonderful job capturing my City, this is so nice of you!! Good job @gidistays!!! 👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hi Titilayo, I believe the apartment is now around 70k (we stayed during the weekend, 2 adults + 1 child). I can't find a price list on the website (I only see older price lists online). I know they also have rooms but I don't know the prices. I guess you can sent them an e-mail to request prices: iita-reservations@cgiar.org . Thanks so much for watching!
Thanks for sharing this adventure. Ibadan & the IITA are now on my list of places to visit especially for the serenity, lush greenery & amazing views. It is the perfect stress-free getaway from Lagos for nature lovers especially by train. Much love from the UK.
You're right Sandy. If no one tells me those houses are in Nigeria, I would think that is the US. Looks so much like our 1960s and 1970s neighborhoods we have here, same type of ranch houses with massive front and back yards, especially in the Midwest. Great job Sandy!! IlTA has been around since the 70s I believe. I knew of the place when I was in High School back in the 70s. Glad to see the place is still around, being kept up. Glad to also see the ongoing renovations and refurbishments. Those windows are called "Glass Louvered Windows, jalousie windows, or just Louvers". They were quite "the thing" in the 70s and 80s. I love them! Looking forward to lodging at IITA when next I'm in Nigeria. Thank you for showing us around. Great video!!
Hi Joy, ah nice te know! I wonder why those louvers are not a thing anymore. It was so nice opening those up on both sides of the room. Yes for a place that has been there for so many years it is well maintained and such a unique vibe overall. I would highly recommend so yes please try to go whenever you are in Nigeria. I'll share more about the costs etc in an upcoming video. Thanks so much for watching 💜
Great IITA😊 I spent a year here in 1984 as a research assistant after my A/L . It’s such a wonderful and beautiful environment. Hope it’s still well maintained. Thanks for sharing this.👍🏾🇬🇧🇳🇬
thanks for this video ; indeed information is key ... I have been in and out of Ibadan almost all my life and I know about IITA ; I never made this discovery thank you very much Sandy...
@straightshooter8751 it is normal to not know everything.. That's why it is good to share so we all know and can check all the beautiful places in Nigeria. Feel free to let us know the places you love or would like to check out 💚
Thanks for this highly informative video. Despite living in Ibadan for a few years myself, i never realised there was such a beautiful resort right in the middle of the city. It's looks so serene and peaceful; a true oasis. Nigeria really has some hidden gems that don't really get much publicity by the media. Judging from the layout of the IITA resort, I would bet it was the blue print for Lakowe Lakes and Golf Resort in Ibeju Lekki, Lagos. Another tremendously beautiful place in Nigeria.
Hey Sandy! Good job with this video as always. You really need to check out Lakowe, maybe get a couple of apartments there for your shortlets. Beautiful place.
aww thank you. I do have a part 2 coming up.. I'll also try to look for more calm places in/around Lagos. It was so nice to just get away from all the hustle and bustle.
@@gidistays yeah just little, you know it's OCTOBER but from November it will start cold and raining ⛈️ and December January snow ❄️ but I'm still going out with shot nicker, you know SCANDINAVIA cold 🥶 is different from all others European 🇪🇺 countries
IITA is beautiful, hard to believe it's in Nigeria.l wish everywhere in Nigerian cities are like this, planned, grasses and trees🌳 🌲 🌴 🌳 along the roads and streets.NLNG camp in bonny lsland is another place like this, you will like it.The insects noise is cricket definitely, there are a lot in Nigeria, especially in rural areas and in the villages..l eat alot of them growing up in the village.😅Thank you.
Yes surely in Lagos I miss not having more public parks/more green throughout the city. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll keep it in mind! lol @ the crickets... are they tasty? Thanks for watching 😀💚
@@gidistays Agodi garden Ibadan is another place to visit in Ibadan. Obasanjo Presidential library resort Centre at Abeokuta is equally recommended. A road trip from Lagos to Abeokuta will fix the bill. Enjoy
I have a follow up video coming up in a few days. I’ve requested all updated prices from IITA and will share those with you. So stay tuned! Thanks for watching 🤍
Really nice video and thank you for bringing IITA to the fore. We that grew up there have almost forgotten there's such hospitality facility there! Every travel blogger out there, though they've done excellent coverage of the train route, should do reruns and visit the IITA premises Keep it up!

Your video has given me a sense of the type of where I will live if I retired in Europe to my beloved country Nigeria. Though I have properties in Lagos but I will preferred to live in my village where I can enjoy the natural beauty of nature. Thank you For this video
Exactly my thoughts when I was there! It was so calm and beautiful. Staying in Europe at an old age is an absolute no for me. Which part of Europe are you in?

Sorry, the Military Govt happened to Nigeria and we lost our way. I remember how Murtala Muhammed dissolved a whole Civil service in the mid 1970's, these are experienced men and women who built Nigeria under colonial Govt and few years after independence under the regional system. The industrial layouts like Ilupeju etc, standard Universities, buildings like Cocoa house in Ibadan which was the tallest in Africa all funded from Agriculture proceeds, the North and Eastern region as well had it going. The new civil service came with nepotism, unqualified people, man know man, inexperienced, lackadaisical attitudes, corruption, nepotism etc if you ever heard of the Town councils which were very powerful those days, they are today's Local Govts and weak. The military messed up the institution including deliberate weakening of the Nigeria Police force cos they had powers to abort a Coup and also arrest anybody those days. I laugh when people wish for military take over in Nigeria😅
...what's your point? Are Nigerians the only people going to bed hungry?!? Your leaders don't give a hoot about you guys, compared with Kuwait or dubai...a similarly oil wealthy countries yet with quality leaders! See the difference!? Therfore stop your complaints!
if people are hungry you shouldn't be on here watching. you should be out there feeding then. lets appreciate little things for the bigger things. stay positive.

The insect sounds like Cicadas also may be called locusts. Grasshopper
Not cricket?
They are actually crickets chirping. The sounds can be intense at night in Nigeria rural areas
lol it was intense for sure! Thanks!
The sound are from insects called crickets.
Thank you 😊
The birds that you thought you saw in the evening were not birds, but most likely bats. Bats are very big in Africa.
Ah yea you're right.. That would make sense considering the time of the day. Thanks!
Are you from St Lucia, originally, you sound like a friend of mine

EBUTE METTA!!! Is that really spelt in Yoruba or another language? That is, METTA ? Just being curious. Thank you.
In Yoruba language, Metta means three(3)
I think it translates to 'three harbours'. Why? Is it similar to another language you know?
EBUTE META Means three destination.
In Yoruba language, ÈBÚTÉ Means destination while MẸTA Means three.
