Saw them at the Regent Theatre in Sydney on this tour went to both shows as they were fantastic. Gene Clark played a new song solo and brought the house down the audience went nuts with it apperation which took Gene by surprise. Is one of the best concerts I have ever attended and still reverberates with me 45 years after seeing them. Feel blessed to have seen Gene Clark before his early passing. R.I.P 🎼
@@derekjensen4680 there is a a audio recording of the first Sydney concert it’s not the complete concert but a large part that you can hear on RUclips The ABC recorded on film the Adelaide concert. Which is on RUclips about 27 minutes of it.i would think that the full concert of one of the shows on this tour would be in some vault.
Great comments. Attended 2 Sydney Regent shows & the Canberra theatre. Also the sound check at the Regent. Met the guys back stage & George Grantham. Great memories as you say. Genes solo set was out of this world.
Was a Byrds fan and was aware of this reunion lineup at the time. Don’t you Write Her Off got a small amount of airplay, on JJ at least. However, for some reason I was unaware of these Australian performances back in the day. I now envy your experience.
Chris Hillman is the best. Great bass player, singer songwriter, bluegrass oficionado and country rock pioneer. Funny how quiet and shy he was with the original Byrds and then went on as front man for the Desert Rose Band where you couldn't keep him quiet lol. If you don't know about the award winning DRB you should look them up. Fabulous band.
@@derekjensen4680 i seem to remember this was supposed to be released on dvd at one point but the quality was to bad because of the dark picture. By the way the date was 1978 , not 1977.
@@wilhelmberend116 interesting, it looks fine on their broadcast as far as darkness, couple minor glitches on their broadcast tape. curious if the whole show was filmed. Fixed the date
@@derekjensen4680 I’m confident the whole Adelaide Concert was filmed. A couple other clips from this Show featuring songs not shown here are viewable on YT but they are second/third generation so visually fuzzy or very dark. Video Taped of a TV screen direct when shown on RAGE . Do you know when this ABC DIG TV Summer special shown ? How did you source this concert excerpt ?

That's some nice playing bass playing from Chris.
Yes he always had an ear for melody which made his bass playing more than “ just bass playing”. 😊
Love Chris Hillmans bass playing! Multi talented musician
I just stumbled across this.
Big Byrds fan.
I saw Roger and Chris several years ago with Marty Stewart and his great band.
It was sooo good.

Those original harmonies!!!!
The Byrds, in all their incarnations, as a group or solo, or these reunions , remain the backbone of folk, rock from 1965 until the end of time
Gene Clark forever!💖
Chris is truly multitalented
Chris Hillman ❤rules. Underappreciated
Loved this. 4 musical heroes here
Loving the sweet mandolin playing by Chris Hillman. Absolutely beautiful! Ty! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Outstanding pick up this…..especially as Gene Clark loathed flying. Brilliantly shot. Thanks for sharing it😎
Beautiful
thank you for sharing this one!
sure, I was surprised it was not already on here

Wish I could have seen this live. Thanks SO MUCH for sharing this!
@11:30 Roger McGuin’s flatpicking is totally amazing!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉Showing his bluegrass roots. Thank you for posting this amazing video! ❤❤❤
I enjoyed this..
3 giants, indeed
😄👍👍👍
Gene is the best singer and songwriter 🎶❤️
Was, since he died decades ago (far too young).
Always the Byrd's!!!
Cool song. It reminds me of slow down you move too fast..
Ah, Pretty Boy Floyd; Woody Guthrie. 😊 Just a little bit of sweet bluegrass pickin’’ there; two guitars, 2 voices.
Actually “ as Gene Clark says”, not Roger, in relation to the recording of Chimes of Freedom.
They did not need the spoiled Crosby
"Kept by no track of ours, for they hang suspended" sounds like a pot bust.
Gene is drunk, oh well
Yes, well, it eventually killed him, as drink killed Mike Clarke also. STONED DRUNK.
What a lame and disconnected crowd.
