    As a local Cincinnatian, I carry this story with some pride. Great job on the storytelling! The most eternal leadership is humble.

      Also whilst it sounds like some sort of wisdom, the most “eternal” leadership of Rome was Caesar. Humble, that man was not.

    It's really not that hard to hand over power, if anything It's more of a tale of a man who valued home and family far more than the annoyances of politics. There is no greater life well lived than going off to stop the dumb from screwing up the good life you are already living.

    I wouldn't say it's entirely accurate to say Cinncinatus answered the call without hesitation. He had to be begged to return the second time - something he initially didn't want to do if it meant missing his cabbage harvest.

    I love how you wrapped this up with a quote from Lewis. As a combat veteran, student of history, and currently a farmer, I feel I can relate closely to Cincinnatus. Thank you for making this video

    The Emperor/Great King should only be used for emergencies. Find a worthy and virtuous man. Then, the Emperor/Great King will resign and return power to the Senate and General Assembly or demoted to Consul. Cincinnatus was so cool! 🤩

    Humility: it opens the floodgates of all the other virtues, it took more power to let go than hold on, Cincinatus knew that true value layin peace than war.

    Caesar spent his entire life trying to set himself up to be the supreme dictator of Rome and in his pathetic, trifling way he got what he wanted and was brutally murdered by everyone he had stepped over to get it.
    Cincinnatus had absolute dictatorial rule handed to him, and he just gave it back when he was done.
    I have a hard time imagining what Caesar would have said had he bore witness, or if he even had the self reflection necessary to understand that ultimate irony that someone was handed and gave up that which he coveted most, and that only of the two of them could say they were truly respected by those around them

    Lee Kwan Yew who was the great arcitech of modern Singapore built up that city state to the Asian powerhouse it is toiday can never be compared to Cincinaticus because despite the wonderful things he did for Singapore he never gave up power and he made a title for himself: "minister mentor"

    I think Cincinnatus was a man of faith with the ability to disassociate his value from his humanity. He should have been made a king. Thankfully, he chose to be a servant. Leaders have felt the highest honor one could be is just an ordinary citizen.

    Being born in Fort Thomas our family's history and our in the greater Cincinnati we all seem to learn about our history and where our community come from on the genealogical site for the landware family it explains how we got our farm in Strasburg it's interesting that these people from the old country knew their history or could relate to their Roman history to America's benefit for Washington in times like this stories about the Noble Romans could be beneficial like Machiavelli's discourses of liviy interesting abbreviation going under the Yoke was like running the gauntlet

      @@animeguardianxx I bet it was a North American who did that comparison, right? 😅
      My dear Anime fan, he was a politician from the 18th Century. He was no hero. He was wealthy, a hypocrite towards his religion, a slaver, and had all defects a rich powerful dude from centuries ago could have.
      Only North Americans, with their toxic patriotism like this man and keep trying to force this "great man" image.

    • @Fergusbaddog
      @Fergusbaddog 10 месяцев назад +1

      What? "Nobody reads the Bible more than me" Trump, is the opposite of humility, you'd have to be a complete fool to not see that at this point. Comparing your idol to people like this and Abe Lincoln (etc.) is an insult to good people.

    • @charlesberton2581
      @charlesberton2581 9 месяцев назад +1

      @@Fergusbaddog Please share the link where President Trump said, "Nobody reads the Bible more than me." If you cannot do that, then, that makes you the liar, doesn’t it? Therefore, everything you said after that point is suspect at best. You are the one who needs a dose of humility.

    • @Fergusbaddog
      @Fergusbaddog 9 месяцев назад

      @@charlesberton2581 I watched him say it (back in like 2016) I remember joking that he was going to get struck by lightning for it. He also said "nobody loves the Bible more than me". There is a huge montage of all the things Trump says he's the best at, the fact that you can't see how incredibly immature, foolish and arrogant he is by now tells me you have very poor standards and judgement. The truth is he has something you want and you're willing to give up your conviction to get it, I'm not going to go back and forth with you, if you can't see who he is by now you've completely sold out.
      His religious hypocrisy is far worse than the egregious sin coming from the left: a plank compared to a speck. Your chosen one is a fraud and he can't save Satan's kingdom here from passing away as God says it must, once he's done with you he will turn on you like he does everyone else that doesn't worship him.
      Compare the many specific Bibles verses about the coming of the lawless one and compare them to your idol that you clearly serve.
      Remember it was religious hypocrites that crucified Jesus
