  • Part 2 of the Ficus cutting I took from my Ficus Benjamina in July 2019. In the last year I repotted it into an even smaller bonsai pot and it grew some pretty crazy aerial roots.

    I have watched ficus cutting videos 1 and 2 at least 10 times. Ha ha I'm really needing to see a 3rd video on the tree. Loved being able to watch the changes in the tree through those 2 years. Great job.

    I love your channel, it's probably my favorite bonsai youtube channel. Your videos compress all the dopamine from a year's worth of bonsai progress into a few minutes.

      Dude just buy one from anywhere as the are super easy to grow as cuttings. I've about a dozen about 6-8 inches waiting for the spring repotting even though they're indoor. plants.

      @jarheadbonsai 2 года назад +1

      @@BillyBobJoeSnr I was thinking of doimg exactly that. If i pick one up now...let it settle in then prune and plant cutting in mid March I should be golden. I am doing my best to unload some house plants to make some room 😄🍺🍺cheers

      Cheers bro. I am very curious to see what is actually growing inside the pot, since there is so much outside, but yeah i will keep what i can. probably not do any stilts carry on, just let them dangle and see what happens lol

    Daggum! The aerial roots went crazy this year on this one too!
    Constants pruning vs grow out & cut back. Are you alternating years with this? Or what are your guiding principles here?

    • @BackGardenBonsai
      @BackGardenBonsai  2 года назад +1

      cheer, yeah it went crazy.
      As its in such a small pot, there isnt really any point letting it grow out. i might/will put in in a larger pot this year, but i will probbaly just keep pruning it non stop really. i want this small, and its really only a experiment/fun tree as such, compared to the other ficus i want to grow a little bigger

    Wow. The trunk has really gotten thicker. 💕. Why did the roots grow like that ?

    • @BackGardenBonsai
      @BackGardenBonsai  Год назад +1

      yeah it got thick pretty fast! as for the roots a lot of tropical trees will do this. basically as the air is so humid, they will just grow roots out into the air.

  • @Ad_DOOM
    @Ad_DOOM Год назад

    how often are you pruning your ficus?

    • @BackGardenBonsai
      @BackGardenBonsai  Год назад +1

      I just do it whenever it looks like it needs it. ...If i prune it, i will show it in the video, all the work i do to my trees over the years is in the videos, so you can see when i do it, but more important you will see what state the tree is in before i do it, which is hopefully helpful
